For me Isabel, pinakbet. And atsarang parya. Or Tinapa with tomato.

Now for California, I think burger. Which I never eat. But each region there is a certain specialty I think.
I only eat my foods that I grow up with. I was 29 when moved here. I grew up in Laoag. Studied and taught at UB.

My mom stayed with me until she passed away in 2005. All my children eat Filipino foods. They even learned to cook them from my mom.

My ex husband of 30 years ate all except the parya.

If you visit my blog "my blessings" you'd find out about the abundance of Filipino vegetables here or anywhere in the nation for that matter. So yes, my favorite (sorry about digressing), will always be Filipino foods and don't bother about recipes from anywhere.

1978, MA.

Right after graduation, 1973, I taught in NWU, went to Manila for my MA and taught at PWU and FEU.

I still have my faculty IDs.

When I moved here I was going to continue at Stanford but I got married and family first came in between my academic ambitions and dreams. No regrets, life was never better. Enjoyed every part of my life. I have 4 lovely children and 7 grandchildren. Just retired now but might have a need to go back to work.

What do you do? I'm PI bound in December. Will visit some friends in Baguio. I was so disappointed the last time I was there. It's too crowded and not much trees anymore like it used to.

I met Mrs.. Academia here in San Francisco, long time ago. I'll PM you.
Lol tried to mail you but I have to change my settings. Try to mail me if you want. hug
laugh I did try to email u but it didn't go.
This is a picture of an old passed down dish that my French Ancestry used to make that my late mother used to make and that I sometimes make.

It is called Glissants or homemade thick noodles that you could put in soups or just by themselves in some kind of broth.

Ok I'll change my settings. I'm leaving for Sacramento and try to do it before then.
Oh Bear that looks yummy. My son's favorite dish is chicken and dumplings but I've never been a dumpling maker.
Fay I've made dumplings too and use chicken stock.I've also been known to drop dumpling dough in stews.
Fay the photo is a stock photo but when I do make some glissants for real I will post the actual photo and not a stock one.
I've never even heard of glissants but I would try those in a heartbeat. Actually there are a lot of foods I haven't heard of on this wonderful blog. I'm not to shy with foods and will try most anything, I just need to be exposed to more dishes.
Isabel I will try to modify my setting right now.wave
