Issues, issues... let me get you some tissues...
Looks like we're ending the year with comparisons about the defunct Matchdoctor and Connecting Singles again. My advice: Don't bother. It's like my dad's dog is bigger than your dad's dog. It's comparing a theme park to an amusement park, the better magician Houdini or David Copperfield.Although MD had forums, blogging and people from all over the world, it was a different venue. If you ask a comedian if the jokes he tells in Vegas get the same responses to a supper club in the Catskills, his answer would probably be no.
I've been here about 18 months and what I found isn't much different than what went on there. I'm speaking about the CS regulars long before the first wave of MD refugees arrived. Actually, the most significant differences I found are the CS regulars being a bit clannish and not really friendly to newbies. I see lots of sandbox mentality, bullying and empty forum threads as though a quota had to be met.
My first blog here was a success.
I was told how my profile should read. Yes, thank you.
Early on, I did a blog about menopause. Inspired partly from a friends experience, partly from internet research and partly from my own (first wife) experience, yet I had enormous resistance from women who told me I was wrong. Huh??
Quick recap: Me "This is what I experienced" some members "No, you're wrong"
I locked the blog, deleted all the comments and wrote something different in it's place.
We're coming up on a new year. I don't expect people to change.
Stop crying and stop supporting things you dislike about this place.
Do something productive.
Show your fellow bloggers you can do more than complain.
Connecting singles is alive with about 6,000 people online right now.
Think about this... With less than 100 people who blog and use the forums. We're a really small part of the site.
Blogs don't ask questions... but, If the site administrator decided to close blogs and forums, would you be upset?

So, where are the other 5900? Is there a secret, more interesting part of CS? A VIP members club? The plebs need to know.
The counter is on the right side.
POF currently shows 442541
Me, you and Palm, where's the other 5738?
There was suddenly an influx of people high-fiving each other then apparently waiting to welcome the next wave of MD members to arrive.
From my memory, none of them attempted to introduce themselves or participate in existing blogs or forums.
Then the blogs were flooded with US politics.
This is not about 'clans', it's about etiquette, just like everyday life
I have no reason to delete it, so if goes 'bai-bai' it wasn't from me.
My response:
1) I was invited here.
2) I came alone and invited no one. No mass arrival. If there was, I had no control over that.
3) reading old blogs I found numerous complaints about new members long before I arrived.
4) actually it was you who made pot-shot comments to my blogs as though I was the alien enemy. Thanks for the friendly welcome.
5) I have only one profile -- no socks.
6) I should name you the 'sock master' as I'm not sure if you've been booted and returned or require additional profiles to fit a medical condition.
7) I never mentioned the site I came from until another member had blogged some erroneous details about the final days before the site closed.
8) I stand behind what I say the statements in my blogs are factual, rarely do I have any conflicts with the other members.
9) can you say the same?
hpy, I left there years ago and remember activity to be much the same.
rizlared, didn't they block the Philippines?
I'm pretty sure the young women were hitting on American men and the complaints were enough to be removed from the list of countries.
I do know they invoked an age spread... something like 8 years. So you couldn't contact anyone who was older or younger by more than 8 years!

Having seen the less than cheerful comments. I acknowledged those who recognized me, but didn't go around 'calling up the troops'
The old site died and I moved on.
From my memory, none of them attempted to introduce themselves or participate in existing blogs or forums.
I did introduce myself and received a few hello greetings and it quickly dropped off.
Since all the regulars knew so much about each other and their comments to blogs were esoteric, attempting to 'get into' a blog I had no background on would easily appear as "Who is this guy and why is he commenting on my blog?"
At risk I'm repeating myself. I blog on various topics, typically ones I'm interested in. They are open for all to comment. Some get no comments and some get many more than I expect.
You say it like it is!
My (over) clarification is for the people who put me in a group simply because I came from the poor side of town.
I've not seen you be political and that's a good thing, please continue with your blogs
You appear to be one of the few who understand what a blog is meant to be.
I did this when a person from India just joined as I just happened to know a few words in his own language
'This was appreciate by him
Yes, I do believe it does make a different in this often cold world to know you are welcomed
Lets keep this nice habit going can we?
I answered the question.
So, thank you for the tissues but I don't need them. I usually mind my own business and mostly speak only if I am spoken to.
But I don't want this place to be more divided than it already is. We have pro and anti Trump division already. I don't think CS and MD clashes are necessary.
It's a small world. Yet we can live and let live.
People often suspect that this person is this or that, I'm guilty of that myself actually.
