IS THERE AN AFTERLIFE?

Is this it? Did we spend our lives taking in knowledge as a child, growing up and experiencing encounters with different people and situations. Making mistakes and wrong decisions. Some of us having romantic relations to the point of marriage. Creating children. Watching and helping them develope into adults themselves. Then we may look back and think that if only we knew then what we know now. Perhaps, and most likely then, life could have been so different.
It seems so ridiculous that when you reach a point in life when you can reflect on the decisions you made and what you have now learned, that it can end and your life experiences mean nothing, and no longer valuable. You become just dust blowing in the wind.
OR IS THAT NOT THE CASE?
dunno confused

Yup! no denying it!
Dead is dead, gone is gone. What you believed, thoughts, memories - all phssed evaporated disappeared - unless you have left a body of works. Gone is gone.
Yes. If you leave something such as author of a book or pieces of art that you have created, then that's at least a thing that can go on.
You can also leave the memory of you in the head of other people close to you, and maybe they pass that on to others. But in time that fades.
Yes. In the stomach of all those creatures who'll banquet on your remains.
I have said before. Einstein made time a dimension and it's been proven, at the very least, by the time corrections needed for satellites outside our gravity well. The point is, for you, that your life never ends. New parts stop being added, but how much of your life already lived do you remember? The past and the future are very similar in that regard. I know it is hard to picture, with the blinders on that our nature imposes, but the only thing imposing about death is any pain involved--just as the pain you might experience before going comatose after a car accident. Worry about the occasion of dying not death.
Once I was in England; I am not there now; should that bother me?
Does it not sound strange though that all you have learned and any wisdom you have is all for nothing? Whatever put us here, did it or they know how we would develope, or were we just an experiment to see how much we could achieve before running out of time? Or was there a plan to get us to their level, so that we were sufficiently intelligent to comprehend our true origins and possibly how to reach that place?
Then we may look back and think that if only we knew then what we know now. Perhaps, and most likely then, life could have been so different.

True enough Crown, but if we did know then what we know now....
look at all we would of missed.

Better we start out knowing nothing, is that not the purpose/test of live confused

Not sure though what has any of your questions got to do with the after life dunno

But yes, I do believe there is one angel
For me, there's an after life, after life, after life. The concept of progression and or regression indicate the many levels we have to go through. One has to read Msny Lives Many Masters by Dr. Brian Weiss to have an idea of what I am talking about.

I do know that if you don’t believe in God, it's much more difficult to understand whether there's an after life or not.
But can't you see that in my version the other lives are there, too. The problem with rebirth is that the connection between the lives is thin. Even in your version very few try to say you remember the previous life at birth. Worse than that is the problem of how many single souls are there? What is the magic number. If it's only one you're back to my version.
Not according to Dr. Weiss.

The reason we can't remember is because we're not capable (yet) in connecting the dots. We eill be able to reach at a certain point when we're ready. We've to go through a lot of levels depending on what we do with the current one.

You can't really understand all of this law of regression and progression unless you read hos book which is a documented experience of his group with some actual people in their field.
Lindsy do I understand that you believe in reincarnation?...................................jenny
@ op

I've never been there, but I can only hope there is existence after death. Maybe those who believe in re-incarnation can speak better to their own pre-existence. dunno
Jenny according to Dr. Weiss, yes.

I believe him.
ALL our lives are happening simultaneously - past, present and future.

And we do NOT have to come back at all!
We have a choice if we want to be recycled!

We can choose to leave this illusionary world forever.
Which means that we need to be free of all our beliefs, sin & karma. (They do NOT exist!!!!)
Celtic.......you say look at all the things we would have missed if we knew then what we know now. We could have avoided most of the bad stuff and made decisions to enhance our life, and got the best out of it. Quality of our present existence would dramatically have improved. For some if us anyway. There of course would be people who made all the right decisions and had no regrets.
But my point is, all the experience we have gained good and bad is in the end of no use.
Unless I can be convinced there is a purpose to it all other than we just exist and disappear. If it's all for a reason, then I am open to someone's theory. Whether there is something after life or not.
LJ ...... There is nothing to convince me to believe in the biblical god and the after life suggested there. But I do not have a closed mind. I question everything as we all should. And I have done as you might have gathered. I do not shut out any suggestion or theories people have. Yes, it would be easy to say I'm a believer and not examine the credibility of such beliefs and say I have faith regardless. I'm just interested in what others think and always how they arrived at their view on life and any afterlife.
One possibility of existing in a kind of afterlife is to transfer the knowledge and experience gained since birth, that is the contents of your unconscious mind and your collective unconscious( the section of your brain which determines your personality), to a computer. This data would then be stored until your normal functions terminate. When we can recreate body structure by artificial means, this data could then be added to the recipients computer brain and we have a rebirth. I believe this will be possible in the future, but until then who knows what we can achieve.
Another possibility is that, if we were put here by extra terrestrial beings then at some point they may decide to officially visit us and give us info that could revolutionise our existence. Maybe to promote everlasting life.
Sorry Crown, unfortunately I'm still at a loss trying to understand what your questioning has to do with the after life hole
But going with your point .... " But my point is, all the experience we have gained good and bad is in the end of no use"... I take it Crown" if there is no after life?

Maybe step away from the after life a bit and look at it in a different way ....
good and bad but if all the experience you gained resulted in giving you a better life, after life or not, then it is NOT wasted which is what I think you could be implying dunno

I agree, we could of avoided certain bad stuff had we of known handshake
but I'm more inclined to agree with Garth ....
I'll leave him to sing it as he explains it a lot better than I ever could wine
Ms Lindsy, My beliefs are with GOD and no man, as reincarnation is not Christian Doctrine.
I believe that when the Lord came back to life, there's an absolute possibility that when we will be with Him as promised, we're no longer our old self. We're reborn and completely absolved with all our human flaws.

I'm a very open minded person Sea and after reading Dr. Weiss, possibilities are great. After all the Universe, this magnificent creation is unfolding with powerful inhuman creation as we speak. cheers
I agree with Mr worthy thumbs up

Ms Jones wave
does that mean you are considering we have more than just the one soul?
Celtic...... The after life connection is that if we exist now to acquire knowledge through experiences good or bad, then it may justify that there is something more than this life to receive the benefit of what we have accumulated in this world.
I can't put it simpler than that. So the question, is there an after life? Probably not, but some people may say yes there is. It's an opportunity to say what you think and not be criticised for it.
sigh
And that's you telling me sad
If I've come across like I'm criticizing your questioning, then my apologies...
such was not my intention.

I don't live this life with the hope to get into the next, maybe reasons why I couldn't find the connection but hey" that's alright.... understanding don't always have to be reached.
Celtic..... I wasn't criticising you. I was saying that this was an opportunity for people to express views without being criticised.
comfort handshake
Celtic..... Also I've used Garth Brookes music when teaching line dancing.
thumbs up
Right you are Crown handshake best we park it here " for the right reason of course" wave

Just to say, you have some interesting blogs wine
I've given my two cents worth....twice!
That's the dimension of highest level I think.
I am not surprised if we're actually in a multi dimensions existing all at once. This universe as being understood ever so slowly by human beings provide such possibility. In the meantime I do rely on what others claim that has been proven and to me it is a very fascinating reality.
I wish I can put my understanding in simple words so I can share but deep down to the core of my soul, I feel all these possibilities in the realms of God and with God. Just because can't quite understand doesn't mean there's a limit to what is out there.

Note: it was through the creation of a more powerful technology that we're discovering more about the universe. It's there we just have to find a way to know more both mentally and technologically. heart wings
CROWNAFFAIR ~ you are very tolerant person and respect all beliefs and theories.
I would just finally like to say that Being a Christian, I am expected to hand my life over to the will of God and to believe JESUS died once and for all, for My sins, and the sins of the World.
I have 10 commandments to live my life by and of course Jesus who said of all the commandments Love is the most important. As a human being i fall down in this as we have a human nature and I repent and ask for forgiveness. Reading scripture, old testament and NEW TESTAMENT slowly and asking holy spirit for guidance gives us a great insight in to Gods amazing love for us and how he want's us to come for eternity to live in Paradise.
It amazes me that so many who are Christians have not read the bible and I don't mean to sound critical but it is like saying that your favourite author is say, Steinbeck and yet, not bothering to read any of his books.

Take care. handshake
Foreplay... Afterlife... It's all about the here and now.
I personally believe the soul does not die. So it's not so much an after life as a continuation of the soul. Yes the body or shell does and turns to dust or ashes in some cases. Be creamated. I think of life here on Earth as an educational training. Where we learn and grow.
GG..... When I ask questions, it's not to show people up, but to try and get clarification.
Sorry that answer was to LS.
MRBLECOLLECTOR ~ I believe that the soul lives on too. I believe that we are in heaven and decide to come down, some of us to learn more. I realise this is not part of the Christian teaching but I have always thought it so. It's a very strong gut instinct. Some come to be humbled, others to learn tolerance, I just feel that we as souls who are one with God in heaven, [my belief of course ] and we want to improve ourselves and grow not because we have to , but because we want to.

CROWNAFFAIR ~ Really good blog, made me think. Thanks.
GG..... You mention that you think we came down from heaven to learn about life. That's what Mormons believe. We pre existed as spirits and when there is a birth on this planet, one of the spirits enters that body in order to develope and gain knowledge and experience. Returning eventually to their place of origin. God's apparent plan from the begining when he knew that Adam and Eve would chose knowledge.
Knock-knock Ms Jones wave
If you'd rather not reply, then that's alright but I am rather curious in your opinion if a person has more than one soul???
Celtic.... I took my shoes to a cobbler and he said I had two soles.wave
TANZILA......But have you seen a real ghost?
help wow
Does after life mean we become ghosts?
dunno
