Is It True That All Men Are Promiscuous?
I hope my fellow males will forgive me for asking such a vile question but I need to have some example. Of course, it is not true.We see this type of question fairly often on the blogs. But why ask it like that? Why not ask the question straight up? Like: ‘Are all men promiscuous?’ It indicates that the questioner does not know and would like to learn the answer.
What we have here is a subtle piece of psychology. By adding the question (‘Is it true that’) in front of the statement (‘All men are promiscuous), we attempt to sway the opinion by suggesting that there is some degree of consensus about it and therefore it is likely to be true. The questioner does not want to learn the truth; he wants confirmation of what he already believes.
And we cannot generalize like that. The question indicates a serious ignorance about or hatred towards all males. We know that every man, like every woman, is unique. If they all appear the same to you, it is only because you were exposed to too small a sample. Hence the strangeness. It may interest you that some of us think the same about you.
Some people do seem not realize that the minute they include all members of a certain group, like all men, all women, all Americans, etc they display bias (a like or a dislike) towards that group. You cannot dislike all men or all Americans because you had a bad experience with one or more of that group. It is just another application of the non-existing law of averages to believe that the results of a small sample will always be reflected in the total population.
You have to treat each member of a group on merit. Treating all the same signifies an inability to deal with members of that group and is in all probability the reason for your poor success rate within that group.
Enjoy the rest of your day.

Just dare!
I always think "speak for yourself", there are some people who like to speak for everyone of their gender and they definitely don't speak for me.
You don't need to like and agree with everyone - just stay away from people which attitude you don't like, pick a partner and friends with a similar attitude to yours and let other people be.
If only everybody thought like that. One person may be a member of several groups. Which group does he represent. I am human, white, male, Afrikaans speaking, South African, animal lover, meat-eating, retired, and many other things. If all males are the same then surely all males must be retired as well.
Eischh, I picked a bad example. Should have picked something like 'hard-working' iso promiscuous.
A very insightful comment. I cannot add much nor can I differ much.
However, if you have an unfounded dislike towards a group because of some bad experiences, and you judge all members by that, you limit your own vision.
For instance, I had some bad experiences with two Australians. If I judged all Aussies by that standard, I would have believed that all the people from Oz are bad. But by keeping my mind open and seeking contact with more, I learned that most Australians are in fact very nice people.
On the contrary, I love women. Some of them are my best friends but don't be a copy cat. Be original and try something of your own. I won't call it fiction. Fiction writing is an art.
Keep on entertaining us.
Thanks. I will try for as long as some members allow me to do so.
Funny, of course, could have more than one meaning, at least here in Capetown. It could be comical, odd, strange, spiteful and a few others
Very odd that is. Your comment is nor consistent with the undertone some of your blogs. But why don't we stick to the blog. So far we have dealt with everything except that, including a hypothetical question in the header of the blog that did not require an answer.
Thank you for another fruitful contribution. At this stage of the blog I wish I had some of the comment beforehand. It would have enhanced the blog greatly.
I'm lost on that. In what context is it a diversion? Do tell please.
There is a thing callex freedom of speech except when it grates as wrong.
Then I speak out.
Ur current blog is bazed on my blog of yesterday.
Using it as a base is revolting to say the least.
U must be runni.g out od ideas to take mine. Not so ?
And yez Afrikaans men r most to blame for their attitude towards women.
Pregnant. Barefoot in thd kitches busy cooking as well with a few kids around her. That is how afrikaans men see most women in generly. Please deny it with proof if u can ?
but you need not bother, I'm not about to be dragged into a mudslinging contest by somebody whose self importance is only superseded by her arrogance. I have neither the time, nor the talent for that.
The may u manipulate the people on blogs is a fine example and very obvious.
Have a nice evening.
U r so used to people suvking up to u that u can't hanhle tbe slightezt opposition.
Where is your on/off switch?
Exactly. The key is in the word 'some'. Some men (and women) can be anything good or bad under the sun.
But sometimes generalization is acceptable. We could make a statement like: 'All humans have two feet'. Although it is not strictly true (a small percentage may have been born without and some others may have lost one or both their feet), we do generalize like that because that is an accepted norm.
What are you telling me?
Btw I see you made the headlines too. And I always thought you spoke British
