Ovenology

Ovenoloists are warning that the migration of ovens is being affected by the change in weather and geopolitical issues.

Baby ovens used to be born in the wild and as they are slowly becoming extinct they are being bred in factories by unscrupulous business men turning a wonder of nature into profit.

Ovens are very intelligent appliances, and it is possible that one might be elected president of the United States in the future due to the lack of viable candidates.

Do you love and care about your oven like you would a member of your own family, or do you just abuse it and treat it like a slave?

Typical Oven abuse...shame on the person who did this!

U know the pudding does boil over but luckily I have a maid to do the cleaning and she's very good.
Snooks, What about letting your oven breed?
Hi DC, I suppose if you are not using an oven you are not abusing it, did you let it go free in the wild?

Your daughter baking cakes for her boyfriend sounds OK as long as she cares for her oven.
Mm. I have the big oven in the kitchen and the portable in the garage. I can dust it off a bit and introduce them ?
Map, I sold that oven together with the house before we moved to Macau.

When we came back to Malaysia for good, I got a portable one for my daughter to bake. Yup, she takes care of really well wink

OB laugh laugh wave
DC, At least your old oven isnt homeless, There are so many homeless ovens and they are unable to claim Social Benefits, they just beg and try to wash windscreens to get enough to live on.
Map.. He is a big boy.. And well behaved. Maybe I should have said..I rub his tummy once a week??rolling on the floor laughing
Lisa, Rubbing his tummy will make his "trays" emerge, you could sort them out with a feather duster, A happy oven is a loyal oven grin
Map.. I'll take your advice. Every girl wants a happy, functional oven..heart wings
( I was wondering about the trays popping out, mind you..)
OB, I care about inanimate objects, my previous blogs were more about my relationships with a coffee machine and a trolley, Ive never dated a suitcase, that would be wrong. cheers
Lisa, Oven trays popping out will often be a bit messy, thats why aprons were invented...Its true (maybe)
Mm. The portable oven in the garage might be smaller but should be seen in age as older than the one in the kitchen. Like a giant and a dwarf.
Mm. I will have to go anonymous. And my x boyfriend stole my video camera. It will have to go down in history as Could not quite make it.
Molly, Im now totally jealous of your oven, The way you treat him is how all ovens (and men) should be treated, Id love a gentle rubbing and coffee, the thought of that makes me very hot (300C or 450F) on a good day.
All my possessions (including men) get treated as they deserve to be treated.
They look after me, I look after them wink
Oldblue! Who say this work of women? Dinosaur living outlook. idea
And something else I've noticed lately, my oven and toaster oven have developed jealousy towards one another. I'm not sure how to handle this as I'm trying to give each equal time. Sometimes the toaster oven is just easier and better. dunno
Shine, oven/toaster issues are quite commonplace.

I had them myself a few years ago.

I had to bring in a mediator..the kettle.

What was finally agreed on, after many lengthy sessions, was a compromise.

All plain bread would be given to the toaster.

Any more complicated ones, such as toasted sandwiches would go to the oven.

So far the ceasefire has held.
Gosh though Molly, I'm afraid if I brought a kettle in the microwave would start getting jealous. I hate jealousy!very mad One day I heard so much bickering among them all that I told them if they kept it up I was going to give them away. Was that mean?laugh
Shine, I keep the microwave out of every discussion.

They are embittered creatures. Somebody must have hurt them a ling time ago, and they have never worked through it.

As for the other devices, they have you by the short and curlies I'm afraid blues

They know you need them much more than they need you.
As for all the others in the kitchen, my coffee pot just sits there and smiles. It knows it's going nowhere. It knows I'm devoted to it and love it with all my heart. It tells me to "pour some more" on that oven and shut it up. It's getting on everybody's nerves.
laugh
If I were you, I would put the coffee pot somewhere safe at night.

Otherwise, you will wake up some morning with a caffeine-thirst, only to find your beloved pot smashed to smithereens on the floor.
Hello Mapmaker, handshake I never realized the crisis situation that has developed concerning ovens. Then again ovens must have developed a jealousy complex with microwaves, and coffee pots getting all the attention, doh I know my oven has just turned into somewhat of a table, someplace to set things on.rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

Be afraid be very afraid
Wow Molly! I never thought about that! Oh, my coffee pot! uh oh If that oven hurts my coffee pot I will torch it myself! professor
Shine, you have been pre-warned now.

Just don't allow it to happen professor
Shine, wave I think I ve used the oven about 4 times in the last 3.5 yrs, talk about neglect, rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing I ve used the stove top about 10 times in that period, doh
Love the microwave, yay its surprising how quick I can cook up a decent meal.
1to1, I suppose the rest of the world is too busy worrying about Elections or the price of pork belly's to be concerned at the plight of wild and tame ovens, using yours as a table will no doubt bring conflict into your home, show a little tenderness to the poor thing.
I have two ovens the biggest one I use in the winter months and the other toaster oven I use during hot summers days and nights when I bake.

Yesterday I used my biggest oven to bake some scratch Cinnamon Rolls.

I keep my ovens clean unlike the oven in your picture.
CC you are old school and know how to treat your ovens, are they from the wild or from a factory?
Map mine are from a factory.
CC I hope that when you are done with the ovens you set them free.
Daniela, Not sure if thats cruel or not, Ovens have feelings like any other appliance and if you dont like or want one I hope you also set it free.
No one should put a microwave where an oven can see it. It is really a very cruel thing to do. I got rid of my microwave oven and since then my oven is smilling all the time.
Howzit Ek, Thats a good thing to do, Microwaves are evil and should not be allowed in public let alone kitchens, I dont have one as I have 2 ovens and it would create a problem, Unless someone comes up with a recipe of how to make biltong in a microwave.
In my opinion, Biltong looks and tastes like a piece of leather meat which was put into a microwave and forgotten about help
Hi Map....Feeling a little guilty here about my poor oven after reading your blog...the poor thing must be nearly ready for rehab after two weeks of baking 25 Xmas cakes and 30 Xmas puddings!...all ready for the Xmas market... Smothered in the fumes from about four bottles of Irish Whiskey....I really will have to show a little more respect for it and not be encouraging it to drink so much!..laugh
Molly, You have obviously not had real biltong, even vegetarians like it.
Hi Og, Thats a lot of baking, Your oven will need rehab after that.

Most people will give their ovens 2 weeks paid leave, Mine has just returned from a cruise on the river Danube, Its looking very relaxed and ready for work once its annual medical check has been passed.
Ah my goodness Map....I think I would happily overlook my guilt towards it and leave it to wallow in it's own misery at home if I was to escape on a cruise like that!... lol..
