confusion about reason for voting

I am confused. Watching the news tonight, of course it is all about Trump's election victory. Out on the streets, there were some voters for Trump who were interviewed. They were asked why they voted for Trump. In essence, they said they were voting against the elite. Since when does being a billionaire not make you an elite? They wanted to vote against the elite, so they voted an elite in. confused

I know....both choices were not the best. But that sort of rationale just does not add up to me.

Now with protest going on in the city streets, it makes me wonder what is next. The minority believe that Trump represents everything against them. dunno

If Trump is not part of the establishment...not sure how he would not be, but if he is not part of it, I am willing to bet that this establishment is very unhappy right now. Going back to President McKinley, the powerful have had their hands pulling the strings of key political figures. If they have lost their control now, I have to wonder what they will do to regain it.

Anyway...just some thoughts I have had for a while now.

I hope the ruthless nature in which Trump won is not taken into the office of the most powerful man of the world.

I do agree with Obama, Trump does deserve a peaceful transition into office. He did win. I wish him, our country, and the world the best.

Thanks Hans for the clarification. That does make sense.

Johnny! American voted Trump because wanted changing for system and changing for American industry and work for people become better.
Hi Johnny, I think people were rebelling against the whole political system rather than the 'establishment' per se.

People are sick of politicians, politics and the old system.

Trump, although part of the moneyed elite speaks the common language. He sells himself well.

He feeds into the fears of the present culture and exploits them successfully.
Sorry Johnny doubledo up. wave bouquet

Cap,

There are a lot of unhappy people in the streets. Unfortunately, I really do not think it would have been any different if Hillary was elected.

I think as a nation, we need to peacefully accept the results. In truth, we really do not know how Trump will govern this country. Be sure though, I believe every move he makes in office will be closely scrutinized by most, therefore making it nearly impossible for any terrible decisions to be made.

Ben,

The possibility of making America greater does sound good. Trump's slogan was what many wanted to hear. I do agree myself. There are areas within our country that do need help. Trump was smart enough to pinpoint and exploit the exact troublesome issues that would get him elected.

I know there was a blog lately on what was more preferred, IQ or common sense. I don't think Trump is intellectually smart...but you have to give the guy credit on succeeding to become elected. He managed to put the correct people in their correct positions and utilize their talents. I would even say that Kelly Ann Conway was responsible for his victory....but he knew her talents and selected her for the right position. Now if he can do that for our country, that might not be all that bad. He seems to have extraordinary common sense.

wave
Molly,

I completely agree with you.

but

The concerning part for me is when people make decisions out of anger. laugh

but...

We (the U.S.) really didn't have much of a choice this election. I think Trump is the equivalent of throwing the dice.

I know he is big into conspiracies....I wonder if he is going to share any secrets with the public.
dunno

wave Heyyy! John John.

Donald T. Is The New Coming President, For The USA. ( For All Of Us In The USA. Rather Who Voted For Him or Not Voted For Him.) On January 20, 17. He Will Be The President Of The USA... Period!

No! Matter Who Likes It Or Not.

banana So! Just Set Back. And Watch Him Work It.
Amen Angel...Amen..wave
Honestly, regardless of who is elected, it's the small group of extremists that have to cause a scene for the rest of the country. It seems as though these people have lost their minds. It's these citizens that are causing the breakdown in this country, not the presidential candidates. These people who have to act out and throw tantrums because they did not get their way. This is what causes the uproar. I can guarantee if Hilary had gotten elected, it would've created the same end result, only from the opposing voters. I worry about what things will boil down to. doh dunno uh oh
Molly,

That is interesting to know, that other nations are also shaking up the existing parties. I don't know if that really is a good thing or not. One thing for sure, we are about to find out.

As far as a good time for rich white men, I honestly don't know. It seemed like the media was trying to spin his relationship with David Duke. I am not sure if he knew him or not...I know he played it off like he didn't know him.

dunno

But, I will say, there was some small town street that he held a rally on that had racial significance to it. Nobody could really determine why he had to hold a rally there since it was such a small populated area. dunno ....guess time will tell.

wave
SR...I honestly do not have any issues with legal immigration. I know Trump wants our immigrants to enter the country legally. thumbs up
Pepps.....indeed! Whether if you like him or not, that really does not matter now. I didn't like either one of them...so it really didn't matter to me who got in. laugh

Now we need to sit back with crossed fingers. mumbling grin

wave
EN,

Totally agree with you...no matter who was elected, there would have been protests. As far as tantrums, you are right there....what is done is done. Now it up to us as a nation to make the best of what we have and to watch closely for any injustices. It is difficult to get upset right now when nothing has happened yet.

Thanks

I Think! Some People Spend To Much Time On Who Won The Election. I Means! Why Argue About It?! Come On, It's Not Like Their Going To Be Visiting or Be Living In The White House To. Nor Talk To Them By Phone Calls Either! That To Me, Will Be Having Too Much Time On My Hands.

It's Over With!.

confused I Think! Maybe. This Is America.

Basically! I Didn't Really Care Who Won.

Ps. Most Likely! Donald T. And H.Clinton, Will Be Back Talking To Each Other. But! You and Your Neighbors Want Never Talk Again....rolling on the floor laughing

Heck! Donald and Obama Even Had Lunch/ Dinner Together Today!....comfort
Thanks Nam. grin You are a great guy as well. thumbs up

Pepps...that is one thing I noticed too....when somebody gains great wealth, they have tons of friends that they never knew they had.

It is the same thing with political power. Once somebody gains great power, they have friends all over the place. ...look at Rubio for example.

Naw...I will still talk to my neighbors...we all have the right to like who we want. I just happen to take the route of disliking nobody for as long as I can. laugh
