Worse Than The Twins of a Gemini

On the daily, I usually get about a dozen emails....mostly I just drop the x's and delete as I am not looking for anyone on here (says it on my profile). Once in a while I get those who are persistant and send two or three...only then do I open out of pure curiosity as to what kind of conversation he is having amongst himself to send so many....and then, I delete. And sometimes.....I notice, those are the ones that first send a greeting message with some lame (and sometimes downright obnoxious) pick up line....and the next is wondering why I haven't responded....and then again, all of a sudden, saying how i'm an ugly @ss among other insults. uh oh ....hmm first yer tryin to be all into me (though at times in a nauseating way)...and then all of a sudden because I don't respond, I'm ugly and nasty, or whatever words ya choose.....well, dang, make up yer mind already.....like flippin a damn coin confused Funny, though, those are usually the faceless ones that do that. dunno Then people wonder why I don't even bat an eye at the faceless profiles (providing I hadn't seen yer pic once before)....roll eyes conversing

What's LOVE or MARRIAGE gotta do with it?

We've heard it in song (Tina Turner), and we've had cause to ask the same question (of ourselves, and of others) even if only in our thoughts. We've also heard that "love is not enough", and may have experienced it, too. So why can't many women admit that love doesn't have to be the reason for pursuing/being in a relationship.

I've been on here since February and have chatted with quite a few men, most of who seemed to think that I was interested in 'marriage', either because of the mere fact that I'm on here or because of the word "companion" that heads my profile. But, does dating always have to be about finding 'love' and getting 'married'? That would be IDEAL, but I don't ascribe to it being the ideal for everyone. It certainly isn't the ideal for me (although it definitely was when I was much much youngergrin).

Life experiences and age has brought reason/wisdom, mostly about who you are personally (i.e. the psychological, moral, spiritual and physical being), and what you want, regardless of what family and society may expect of you. And even if you're a romantic (like me), you may still understand the difference between what's 'ideal' and what's 'real' about your hopes/plans for your future. So, sometimes, neither love nor marriage, may be what you want from a relationship at the moment.

And I'm not hinting at 'sex' and 'money' as alternatives, even though they often are. I'm really thinking about mutual admiration and respect, companionship, shared interests, etc (which may/may not include great sex and shared finances) and may/may not even lead to love as a pleasant 'side effect'.

I've often thought that many men understood that reality very early in life, whereas many women (myself included), were mainly encouraged to focus on the ideal. And, perhaps that's why we have struggled to understand or have relationships that aren't focused upon achieving 'love and marriage'.

The thing is, I now have a greater appreciation for that kind of relationship, and feel a bit put off when others don't. Am I wrong for expecting them to, or are they being archaic in their expectations of me?

It looks like he reached the height of his career...

38 year old actor Rich Rotella was always concerned about his height. As an actor, he felt it was an impediment to his career. Rich stood 5 foot 5 inches as a teenager and never grew taller.
Looking for a solution, he researched leg-lengthening surgery, an expensive process.
For those of you who might puke over the details, they basically were able to make his femur bones 3 inches longer. He was unable to work for months and required lots and lots of physical therapy.

The cost: $100,000 and none of it was covered by insurance.

I'm thinking, if it boosted his career and he started getting acting parts right after, that could be a tax 'write-off' the same way actors/actresses improve their appearance to further their careers.
As a way to pay for the surgical procedure, Rich is working on a documentary and plans to release it in 2024.

Going from 5'-5" to 5'-8" looks like he reached the height of his career!

Camp Lejeune this, Camp Lejeune that...

Good Lord, how many times do we all have to hear about "if you had lived in Camp Lejeune between 1953 to 1988, you may be eligible for toxic water claims to receive compensation in a lawsuit."?!

Geez, that's all we ever hear these days. thumbs down

Believe it or not, I was actually born there back in 1967. My dad was a Marine and was stationed there so I fit right into the time frame. However, I have no health problems as of yet from the toxic water. It says that health problems may develop later in life. Stay tuned! uh oh

Whatever you do, do it as though you are doing it for God (Colossians 3:23).

From birth, we are innately selfish, and have to be taught how to share and to care about others around us, as we grow. So, it isn’t hard to understand why many of us strive to please ourselves over pleasing others. However, when we love and or respect another person, we sometimes forget ourselves entirely, trying our best to please him/her.

Even when we falter in that regard, we try to make up for it by working harder and doing better. If that person is our mother/father, grandparent/guardian, then as you grew under their care, you tried to do things that would please them. And when they were pleased, you were usually ‘rewarded’…sometimes a smile or praise of any sort was enough for you.

Who is easier to please? Who should we WANT to please more? Mankind or God (our creator)? Physical evidence is usually available for us to tell when we’ve pleased someone, but not so much when it comes to pleasing God. When we do things as though we are doing them because God asked us to, then we would usually do them willingly, and do them to the best of our ability, because we want to please Him…even though we won’t ‘see’ Him smile at us when we do so.

Even when we have to do things that are tedious and mundane at work, in our community, in our family, focus on the tasks as though it was God who asked you to do them for Him. He encourages us to focus on Him whatever we do because pleasing Him brings even more/better rewards to us – the most valuable of these being ‘spiritual’ blessings.

Don’t think that the physical/material blessings are the best; it is the things that money cannot buy that are always the most valuable. Love, joy, peace, prosperity, humility and wisdom, are treasured ‘rewards’ that most of us should want in abundance, and only God is the true source for them. Hence it would definitely be wiser to focus more on doing things as though they are for God. So NOT easy...sigh

Ahh just love the holidays.....

Here in the USA, we have Thanksgiving coming up soon, though most from across the globe already know this. ..definitely a feast will be had with family and friends. Some holidays here, though may be familiarized
elsewhere as well, actually pertain to our own country's history, such as Thanksgiving (and yes, I'm aware there are two sides to this coin), Fourth of July/Independence Day, (and not so popular elsewhere...Memorial Day, President's Day,) and so on...Just curious, though, ....and I know this can simply be googled, but I think it's more enjoyable to hear it from others, along with their own family traditions....but maybe some can enlighten me to holidays that are celebrated in other countries that wouldn't necessarily be celebrated in other parts of the world. ...and what can ya tell me about the holiday....how it's celebrated...what it originates from...etc. I'm simple and love to learn about stuff like this smitten conversing wine

Gas prices shot up 30 cents overnite

Yesterday morning gas prices stood at $3.39. On my way to work early afternoon yesterday, it went up .10 to now $3.49. Today while I was out, it's now $3.79. Shot up 40 cents since yesterday morning.

Let's all give Biden a round of applause.

thumbs down

Notice how went gas prices go down some of your liberal twits on here will give Biden credit. The minute gas prices shoot up, they blame OPEC.

We all know why gas prices are up. For one, OPEC doesn't like Biden (with good reason) , and the election is this coming Tuesday. Another, liberal policies with going green.

thumbs down

Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner

Just got through watching Bruce Caitlyn Jenner on Greg Gutfield on Fox News. He/she looks like a woman, but Caitlyn's voice still doesn't quite match a woman's.

I don't think Caitlyn likes men, I still think he/she prefers women, or am I wrong?

And if that's the case, why want to look like a woman?
