UN just announced it is suspending the UN Patrol in Syria. That the level of violence has risen in the country to the point, were it is "posing a significant risk" to the UN Peace Keepers.

The 300 UN Peace Keepers are staying in the country. At a site undisclosed site. But are no longer patrolling the country.

I wonder if thin skinned UN vehicle that they were forced to ride in by the Assad government had anything to do with decision? Or that they could not carry anything more than a side arm?

Yep, I bet they do, because the rebels aided by Al Qaeda are drastically losing ground and have almost been driven all way to Turkish border..

Kinda smells of desperation. Now the question is what to do?
Right now any intervention would be seen as a desperate attempt to reignite the civil war/Conflict.. And it is looking more and more like the consequences could be a much larger conflict, or at the least a superpower standoff..

Did alQeada ever ask for UN Peace Keepers in Iraq?
Did the Taliban ask for UN Peace Keepers in Afghanistan?

No is the answer to both of those.

In the final battle with the alQeada of Iraq, 2000 surrendered near Mosul after a week of siege. If someone needed a UN Peace Keeper at the end it was alQeada of Iraq. They did not call for them.

You all don't see it coming yet.....but it is coming. All the leading royal Sunni families have very been insulted by the acts of Assad's Awalite government, to the degree that they are considering military intervention. So I would not worry about the Americans here. We withdrawn all of our combat forces from Iraq. I would worry the Arab League countries that neighbor Syria.

Those Sunni Royal families when you combine them....have a military strength twice what Assad has. Add that to the rebelling Sunnis. So Assad is out numbered in this coming fight. He really only has 200,000 regulars. That he why he brought in the Russian and Iranians. Arab League equipment is more modern and they were participants in Desert Storm. So they know how to fight.

It might take a year or more, but pay back is a real.......

To get peace in Syria.....you don't have to say a thing to me.
But to those 680m Sunni that are being insulted by Assad, Moscow and Tehran....those you need to speak to. I am a very happy and contended American sitting across the big oceans just watching this one.

The easiest way to do that.....is charge Assad with crimes humanity at the Hague. The UN has suggested it. It was done to Milosovic and his crew when he under took ethnic cleansing in Balkans. But so far it has not happened.

Proving again to the Sunni, that world justice is for a few but not to them. You all (Europeans) cry for middle east peace in threads like this. But cannot even bring charges on Assad? After he has kill 10000 Syrian Sunni? That makes Europe seem pretty fickle to the 680m Sunni in the world.

By the way......check sect of town and village that are being left barren and burned out. They all seem to be Sunni, not Alawite.....I just don't think that the Sunni would do that to themselves.

By the way...Russia just upped the "pot" here. Putin is send to Russian amphibious ships to Tartus, Syria. Both loaded with Russian marines. This to 'protect Russian nationals' in the country.

Just when will the Moslem world cry out about that "Russian Christian Crusaders" that are occupying Syria? I wonder. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Latest from news wires suggest that an agreement has been achieved between President Obama and President Putin behind the scenes at G20.

President Obama and President Putin have agreed in principle, that the Syrian people should decide on their own future in Syria...

Apparently both Presidents have also agreed that the Kofi Annan Peace plan should be further pursued as apposed to invasion..

There was also further agreement in principle on the subjects of Iran and the European defense systems, with further talks to take place between the two leaders...

The UK insurance firm that leaked Russia was selling MIL Helo to Syria....because they found the MIL helo in the cargo manifest of the Russian freighter.....has discontinued the insurance policy with the Russian owner.

The vessel is now off the coast of Scotland. Well within reach of a UK search team.

Now I suggest.....

That if this agreement...or as they said yesterday....commonality on Syria violence between Putin and Obama will hold any water. This Russia vessel is going to make a 180 turn and head back to Russia.

But.....

If this agreement on Syrian violence is mere words....for the media by Putin and Obama in a American election year....and Putin is arming Syria for a proxie war between the Arab League and Syria.....this vessel is headed to Syria.

Surely President Putin can get a Russian merchant ship to abort a passage......if he really wants Syrian violence to end. He can bring down so many Russian laws on the owner for violating Russian foreign arm shipment laws that it would take all the lawyers in Moscow to get him out of Russian courts.

Then again if the owner has approval from the Kremlin's foreign arms approval agency...we know that President Putin knew and approved of the sale.

So boys....place your bets were this Russia freighter ends up?

Ports in Tartus, Syria ?

or

Ports someplace Russia?

Personally, my bet is Syria. But I have lost a few bets in the past....

CIA, MI6 agents direct massacres in Syria: American analyst

Interesting headline, with a interesting video...

but what actually caught my attention was one comment on that video...

This is a war NOT JUST ORCHESTRATED AGAINST SYRIA; this is a war orchestrated AGAINST RUSSIA, and the russian leaders very well know about it. The grand geopolitical design envisages installing puppet regimes in Syria and Teheran in order to further usa-europe interests in the Middle East and break the MILITARY backbone of Russia, and the ECONOMIC backbone of China. The question that remains to be asked is: ¿How many corpses of innocent syrian civilians is Putin,-the man at the helm in Russia-,prepared to watch as a a result of usa-israhell-ksa-qatar-turkey masterminded carnages in Syria, before pounding his fist on the table, and yelling at obama`s masters: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH,

So why does the US support the Kofi Annan peace plan if the CIA and MI6 are directing the death squads in Syria? Not supporting it would e the way to go.

And why did Kofi Annan not reply to Lendmen charges of this? Or have a UN investigation began?

But I have to admit....seeing Russia tied up in another Afghanistan like campaign.....just gives many in the US shivers up their legs. I have said that in the past, if you remember. Seeing Russia dump 2-300,000 of her finest young men into Syria.....to be surrounded by
680m angry Sunnis...we think it a very bad idea. Likely President Obama told him this at the Mexico meeting. But hey Putin has done some really bone head plays in the past.

By the way.....I don't think Putin is sending the MIL helo to Syria to be flown by Syrian pilots. But to be flown by Russian pilots that were with the Russian marine deployment.

See in Russian military doctrine....old Cold war military doctrine that is....but what we saw in Georgia...the last time Russia fought.....you have mech infantry/tanks & PC /close air support.
Assad has a excess of Tanks and PCs. But not close air support.

So Putin needs his MIL HIND helos and his Skois Ground attack aircraft in Syria....to support his Russian Cold War Military Doctrine. So I have a pretty good odds here that the ship ends up in Syria. Else those Russian Marines will not have the mobility and close air support that they need.

So for what ever reason...the Russians are coming, the Russians are coming, the Russians are coming....... to Syria.

It is a old US cold movie movie....so look it up..... Billy Bob gives it a thumbs up

And yes, Boban...life is good. Even in the bad times.

Let us put some CS prestige on the line. If I am right for the reason sited in the earlier post that Putin sent them for Russian pilots to fly in Syria.....you can bowing to me in the future.

If I am wrong....and the smart play for Putin is to stop and return the ship to Russia . I will bowing to you in the future.

Fair enough?

But think it thru.

Any ship owner that would list MIL Helo on his insurance forms....has already gotten his foreign export license from the Kremlin. He crossed his Is and Ts enough to get commercial insurance. In the coming civil trial Russia because he going sue the Kremlin because they had turn around costing him millions....the ship owner will show those foreign export document signed off by the Kremlin.

So they way I see it. Mr. Putin is caught between a rock and hard place here.

But there is a third option.....

The Russian ship owner turns up the victim of highly radioactive Russian nuclear isotope from eating a meal in local Moscow restraunt....habitted by former Russian KGB agents.....

So the Russian ship owner might wish to leave the country soon....

I sure hope the Russian ship owner was smart enough to make copies of those export licenses from the Kremlin.....if you are reading send a copy to every friend and family member you have....
