No Alternatives

They marched along my shoulder
we stayed quiet to the day

Can we not rise upon! they whispered
Our life Is our Stay!

To hold that Is
to grapple all
to know this is right
We shall never fall

for on darkened days
tis' the mind

shall be the mountain
all swords will melt
within the fountain

Self

Every which way I turn they're walking next to me,
and its clearly obvious that your frown is from the burn, from the burn of the daily grind,
dig to find anything that satisfies the mind,
and in time....you'll give it up
it ain't mine...don't even know wassup

I'm a victimless crime stood on by divines,
Don't have the right frame of mind
lash me for all I've got
I'm kind,selfless and forgetful,
and often I get lost in the stupour of drunk and high,
cause this world you provide its what I need to get by!

What shall we do today?

What shall we do today
if tomorrow does not come
in it's usual way?
Now that the line is drawn
what shall our world be like
come the dawn?
The powers that be are toying with
the future of a terrible atrocity which is
about to unfold who knows what lies or truths
have been told?
Kind of wishing there was a better way
for our leaders who want to play.
Nobody can afford the cost to consider what may be lost.
Haven't we learned by now that nobody will win
for our wage of sin?
A once great Nation is rapidly losing it's station
It wanted change but I don't think it's so happy
with the results arranged.
The shepherd of their hope turned out to be a dope
Yet, when one has a different agenda perhaps we
are not seeing within the proper scope.
To consider what happened on that great and terrible day
12 years ago as we reflect upon those who were taken away
We usher in a new battle of the same war having to reopen
old sores potentially making new ones.
Overall the war was never over it just changed it's mask
now we wonder are we up to the task?
Oh they may love to justify themselves for their own reason
but I wonder is this the best season?
Yes it seems apparent a fool who was uniquely groomed for this occasion where nobody knows whose side he is on when it comes to this invasion. Yet we can pretty much see he seems to dance for his bothers in the hood I can only assume he wants to rule the world if he could but as long as we continue to give him the power he will
be laughing at the last hour. Hence, who is more foolish the fool or the fool who blindly follows him to the burning towers?
In the end nothing will matter as the speculators clatter among themselves wondering in years to come who will be to blame
as we all walk the hall of shame.

Nightmare on Elm street, er, no... Part I

This happened to Madalena, a sweet friend of mine living in South Africa, just a few days ago…:-

Madalena: Im off to Northen Cape to visit X___[her son], he works there. Two Saturdays ago something terrible happened. Z____[a friend of ours] and her boyfriend A_____ pick me up from work every Saturday and we go to different Portuguese restaurants for lunch and then we usually go this port coffee shop for coffee then they take me home and most of the time come up for coffee & to talk to R___[her other son & his girlfriend]. When they left we let them out I ran up the stairs & closed the curtains. The next thing we hear gunshots and R___[her son] looked out side and then was in a panic to go out, I couldn’t understand why I thought it must be someone fighting in the street> I then heard my landlady ____ screaming:-
" Get me the damn gun, stop it I’m going to shoot you!!”
I started screaming " stop it we're going to shoot" then I heard a succession (forgive my spelling but I don’t have spell check here) of 5 shots. Then I saw Z___[our lady friend by the gate & then I realized it was to do with them! I grabbed the keys & R___[her son & I ran down as we opened the gate the robbers[black thugs] were driving off in our friend’s A____’s 4x4 & then I saw him[ our friend A____] lying in a crumpled heap on the grass. For a moment I hesitated too scared at what I might see…

Me: message stopped here:- A___ then i saw him lying in a crumpled heap on the grass for a moment i hesitated too scared at what i might see...
What next?
Madalena: He was groaning & we were around him, I asked where he was shot, I forgot that a person whose just been shot usually doesn’t know where they’ve been shot, and he said so, then R___, the Landlady asked where it hurts. There was a crowd around us by now, I asked some one to shine a cell-phone light so we could check, he said his leg was sore so I checked his inner thighs so that if he was shot there it was vital to stop the bleeding, it was clear there, R___, the Landlady saw the bullet hole in his chest and some one passed a towel & I put pressure but it wasn’t pumping out blood, & I thought:-
“Oh good its to the right, missed his heart, then I saw blood in the middle of his buttocks & my heart sank as I thought… his spine! Well the ambulance was taking too long[normal for South Africa, by the time police and ambulances get there, you’re looong dead…] so R___[her son fetched his car round the front and he and D---[his girlfriend]a took him to M____ hospital…
Me: and then?

Nightmare on Elm street, er, no... Part II

Madalena: One bullet grazed his arm one went thru his chest side ways and out thru the side of his chest & thru his arm. P___[my name…] Im going to board soon so might not finish now…

Me: ok, love you please let me know, I'M GLAD YOU'RE OK, MY LOVE TO Z___, OK?
I'M SO SORRY IT HAPPENED TO YOU GUYS, I STILL THINK OF COMING BACK THEN I HEAR STORIES LIKE THESE, AY...
So many times you spoke of being so safe at your place, I love you little elf, please be careful and finish the story when you can don’t stress, ok?

Madalena: One went thru his buttocks, thru his small bowel & thru his anus. Another thru his buttocks and out thru his scrotum, the other thru his thigh and fractured his bone, he is so lucky the bullets were small, he had to have an emergency operation to repair his bowel and anus, he is doing so well, they had to put a temporary colostomy bag. He is now in S___ hospital for his leg.
I still feel safe inside the complex but outside is a big problem, because there are so many people up and down & you don’t know if they’re good or bad…
We are all traumatised, T___[the Landlord felt guilty because of his stroke he couldn’t run downstairs to help, R___[the Landlady said she saw them holding him down and shooting at close range, I___[a tenant] that lives downstairs thought the shooting was in the complex, made her kids lie flat and crawled to the door to lock it & get the keys out. She drove took Z___[the victim’s girlfriend & I to the hospital, D___ going at the back of the car with A___[the victim] not knowing if he was going to die
4:40pm
About to take off, adios for now…
Me: Farewell my sweet…

Veteran in waiting...

It is appreciated by most, if not all..
the flamboyant and sometimes contrived ...

"Thanks"

given to all of us that have worn the uniform.

The greatest reward you could give us -

Never again tolerate a Presidential administration
or a congress that responds to every wind
Change in the world with a threat of military intervention ;
or worse, actually committing our own sons and daughters
to "HELL" all the while claiming the future interventions
To be in our best interests.

America is, and gas been a universal war-monger...
the late President DD Eisenhower warned us if the
criminal elements found within the Industrial Military
Complex.

Remember...all enemies of the Constitution
Foreign and DOMESTIC...these are our enemies.

Forgive me for the obvious misappropriation ....

DARE

Drug and Alcohol Resistant Education
The police officer comes into the 6th grade classroom
He educates the children on the dangers of drugs and alcohol
A man serving time in jail for drunk driving gives his speech
This is what can happen to you if you drive drunk
You can lose your family to booze
You will get drunk every day and lose
You will lose your dignity
You will lose your health
You will lose your wealth
So I still wear the shirts 18 years later
A gift from the first cop who came to my classroom
Did it help the kids who are now approaching 30?
I am reading a book on how most charities are ineffective
How most waste the money that is given to them
Is DARE effective in curbing abuse of drugs and alcohol?
Or does it encourage some youths to start up these abuses?
It doesn't really seem to matter
If it feels good then do it
Regardless of the results

About this poem:
Just started reading a book on the ineffectiveness of most charities. As this is the time of year to give to charity, I found it very interesting on how the number of charities has grown since our founding with the pilgrims. They now number 1.4 million.

good and bad

So many things
can be good when their bad
You have to be happy
when you know you are sad

I like to watch
the very best
whether its watching a fight
or a bird in its nest

There is so much bad
In so much that's good
Its in every man
and in every hood

Sometimes its hard
to see what's good in what's bad
and you have to look hard
to see what you had

If life teaches us lessons
and makes us wise on the way
we know we can learn
from god and bad every day

Video Games

It started back in the early 80's
These video games had me hooked
Ms. Pacman started it all
She ate cherries, strawberries, peaches, pretzels, apples, bananas
The only game I could play straight through on a quarter
Golden Axe
You just went through killing bad guys and zapping them with majic
I played as the short guy with the beard and helmet
Then there was Arkanoid
A version of Breakout
You hit blocks and got special help
Lasers, bigger block, hold onto the dot, warp into next phase, life
Then Nintendo came out with Mario Bros.
I didn't have to spend my quarters all the time
I could get the same graphic quality at home
I now play on a system that plays old Nintendo and sega games
Played Ms. Pacman and Tecmo Bowl(football game) this morning
I played Tony Hawk skateboarding and pool on my playstation yesterday
It's been a long time since I bought a new system
I got my XBOX way back in 2004 from a kid at work
He got it free with pepsi points

About this poem:
I have enjoyed my video games for a long time now. I'm not into the role playing games like Zelda, preferring easy to play games like Ms. Pacman and Qix.
