A Job

I'm back at that job again
The one I had from May 13, 2007
To December 18, 2008
It still scares the hell out of me
I worked in one area for Monday and Tuesday
I was put in a less scary area for Wednsday thru Saturday
The job is confusing
I can't figure it out
I worked it before
Spent one year and two months
I'm no further ahead than I was then
I go there feeling like a schmuck
Because I am in desperate need of some bucks
Can't get that fear out of my soul
Feels like my mind's in a blender and my heart has a hole
Why didn't I tough it out when I was a teacher
The place reeks of death and I can't shake that doomed feeling
I at least get off at 3:30 P.M.
For now at least
I know I should be appreciative that I at least have a job
And I do appreciate that I have money coming back again
I just wish I wasn't working for a buck less an hour
Than I did in 2007

About this poem:
Regretting my job decisions I have made in my life. I think really the thing that haunts me most is my acute shyness around people. It has plaqued me my entire life. I am jealous of people who have social skills and smarts with tools.

Another Monday

The alarm clock crowed its monstrous notes as I struggled to find it’s camouflaged position.
Like a cap in the wind it tumbled further away in the blankets as I tried furiously to reach..
A clunk on the floor advised me it was wounded as it turned into a tweet half accomplishing my mission.
Stumbling thru my bedroom doorway I peeked thru cloudy eyes and cursed thru mumbled speech.
Why didn’t I take that veterinarian course-oh yeh! very long and costly and too darn demanding.
Will have to shave and shower, comb my teeth and brush my hair?….and try and find my keys.
This routine for company, corporation and state often seems obscene and never ending
I will be like a walking Zombie until I reach the brown box in the line and say large double double Plezzzz….

~five of seven~

You push to the enth spitting out what I gave
Clock starts at eight, ends about five
Your recall's so bad
Cause it's all about you.

Whips in your hand and your 4 inch heels
You batter the meat to help in your feel
Always forgetting what they gave in the past
It's all about you while you crow's nest the mast.

You get thirty gives
To your Eighty five takes.
Yet the gives never seen
Your despair is all fake.

It's all about you as you superimpose
Your delicate mind upon those of brown nose
Push away others while brown will comply
As they live in the realm of your misguided lie~

About this poem:
Too often companies will forget all what you've done for them creating an all about them, which in turn pushes away good employees that have heart in their job's.

The Master Carpenter

Embedded image from another site

The carpenter went out into the woods
he was looking for a very special tree
not quite sure what he wanted he wandered
checking out various types shaking his head
Embedded image from another site

deeper and deeper until in a sunny clearing
he saw just the one this would make the frame
chopping it down then into different lengths
he carted it back piece by piece to the valley
Embedded image from another site

a sturdy log cabin with handcrafted furniture
only a master carpenter can achieve this detail
each sculptured piece was placed by his hand
making a thing of beauty that blended in well
Embedded image from another site

from far and wide they came to buy his furniture
each intricate piece carved to fit and enhance
a happy man this carpenter living contentedly
in the woods doing what he loved best of all

barker nights

i swung the door and made my pitch
"buy one drink! see the whole show on the inside!"
it was a friday night
the street was crawling with money
i spotted a group headed my way
there must have been forty or fifty
a tour group wandering down the sidewalk with no guide
i just opened the door and bowed with a flourish
they filed in like sheep
their driver came running toward me
he was pissed off!
these tours were only supposed to go to certain clubs
where they had an "arrangement"
the driver was screaming in my face
i took a twenty out of my pocket
told him to go in and have a drink on me
he actually growled when he grabbed the twenty out of my hand
but he went in
the manager came out
asked me how in the hell i did that
i told him he owed me twenty bucks
he paid me on the spot
next day angelo, the big boss, called me into his "office"
his office was the bar next door
angelo owned a lot of clubs
he was a big "family man"
i went in and said "yes sir?"
he said "ey, i 'ere you been doin a good job out dere"
i said "thank you sir, i really like my job out there
i don't want any other jobs
i just like my job out there"
he looked me in the eye and patted me on the cheek
"you a good boy" he said...

Zoom!

At rush hour in any town, people race,
people frown, bloody hell they'd knock
you down, like soldier ants on a quest,
from here to there no time to rest,
catch a bus, catch a train, stand in
line in the rain, bumper to bumper on
the motorway, all work no play, traffic
jam, 4 hour delay, fast movers, slow
takers, lonely hearts and home makers,
a race, a relay, same tomorrow, replay.

some afternoon dream

the day drones on humming like
the monotone of a tuning fork
a clock ticks slow somewhere
that clocks still actually tick
and the afternoon scrapes on
without a grease of a care

let's get to the end of it
i feel so cubed in here behind
drab business fabric walls
that time discretely slices
a million light years apart

contemplate the time and wait
for the workday to terminate
if only for today so i can
release my soul to the air
flying my sonic imagination

high away from procedures
and scintilla of policies
through canyons of colors
to rise like leavened bread
and grow into something holy

there is much of life's water
slipping past my boat, spoons,
buckets, oceans of life, of days
with names that i don't know
that somehow feel my presence

i run to the ramparts of the day
jump over the stones and flee
a spirited dash to the forest
my chains clanking in the dirt
a melodious tinkling sound

"Liquid Comfort"

It's been two long hard days of intensive labor,
the preparation for foaling has been accomplished.
My muscles within my body are screaming for rest,
due to a friends horse barn keeping me active and enslaved.
The roof, through which entirely to much sun had been shining,
has been satisfactorily sealed against unwanted exterior elements.
My own insides are telling me of discomforting neglect,
and reminding me that it's time for some liquid comfort!

Liquid comfort that soothes a dust laden and parched throat,
that has endured hours of inhaling organic microscopic air born particles.
Alas, the work has been completed! The fatted calf can be prepared!
New stalls within which four new foals will soon lay with their mare mothers,
are ready and waiting for that magical moment of life to Spring forth!
It's time for some liquid comfort!

The brown container in which my liquid comfort comes,
has but one major difference from all others... it's brand name.
But, "Oh the soothing effect!" upon my dust crusted throat,
as it washes away that unpleasant, raspy dryness causing such thirst.
What pleasure it is to end this day with such a wonderful product,
as this liquid comfort called... Chocolate Milk!!! - YUM!!!

Go gently with her

When a man finds a woman
gently he must go
woman have emotions
and a tender soul
some will hurt easily
some will be tough
others will hide the hurt
and then have enough

A woman wants many things
but deeply to love
find someone strong and true
her hand to his glove
and should they argue
as lovers often do
why not hug and love her
and stop her feeling blue

And the rights or wrongs
that make us argue so
let them be like raindrops
and watch them as they go
kiss her and make up
and it will be better in the end
life's too short to argue
when bridges you can mend

So love her tenderly
passionatley eternally
let your lips touch
hands that caress
touch sweet frame
admire her so
shes never a mess
this woman of finess
