pensivity

I'm not asking if you love me
'fraid the answer may not please
left to dream
my heart still open
yet my mind shall never ease
too much thinking makes me question
could you only read my mind?
for brutal truth
would surely scar me
I fear unhappiness to find
so I float along in limbo
that's what I get for loving you
unsure of step, thought, or purpose
come on sunshine, see me through
til sleep can once again protect me
from conscious misery of day
where tenders flow
our spirits dance
painful reality, keep away
must I forever heed the warning?
is a sad heart not to heal?
will I one day welcome morning?
find your precious love to feel?
it seems so useless to continue
has my life just been a waste?
today, I'm asking, do you love me?
and pray, your kisses I might taste
should you be cold on the shoulder
with words, confirm my fears
no escape for me into the night
I'll only find more tears

love poem 40244

you never know what you may find
wandering around inside our mind

we wear our hearts, naked on our sleeve
as wave of light shines out our belief

believing our scenes, we kiss and shout
and feign for love, our acting out

what is so compelling of this analogy
of us growing through life's biology

growing Petri like, we dish it out
our culture, our song, our lives about

want and desire, wanton desire, sets
us on fire, without love or regrets

it's all I want, just to be with you
if you understand and not misconstrue

the duality of us both together can
repeat generations since time began

Eve and Adam were the first to know
that it takes two to make love grow

A NEEDLE IN A HAY STACK

A NEEDLE IN A HAY STACK

FINDING THE NEEDLE IN A HAY STACK

THE ONE PERSON IN LIFE YOU LACK

ONE CAN SEARCH THEIR WHOLE LIFE LONG

ONLY TO SETTLE ON SOMEONE WHO IS ALL WRONG

IN YOUR DREAMS YOU MIGHT FEEL HIS ESSENCE THERE

BUT WHEN YOU WAKE ALL YOU FEEL IS DESPAIR

YOU MIGHT CATCH A GLIMPSE IN A STRANGERS EYE

AS YOU ARE PASSING BY

THAT WILL LATER MAKE YOU WONDER AND SIGH

LET YOUR SPIRIT ALWAYS HOPE

AND DON'T GO AROUND AND MOPE

BECAUSE WHO KNOWS?

YOU MIGHT ONE DAY GET A KISS FROM THE ONE WHO WILL MAKE YOU TINGLE TO YOUR TOES

Nothingness

As I sit in the nothingness of my soul I wonder why
why have my emotions slipped
why is it so hard just to feel
It seems as though my emotions have been forced
I am putting on a false smile to get through my day
I loved you more than anyone ever and you killed my heart
I see you happy without a care
I live in anger I live in pain
Are you human? Do you even care what you have done to me?
I have been left an empty shell of my previous self
I watch the sun go down every night and it reappear every morning and wonder
how the world continued to spin when my world has gone to another
How could you not care? How dare you treat me like this!
I was good to you! You let believe I was what you wanted-what happened
Now you’re gone and it’s like I never existed
How do I move on? How am I supposed to be better without you?
Will you ever come back?
If I don’t believe you will come back to me I don’t know how to live
Please come back soon
I miss my soul

Overdue Letter

Mom,

I have cursed you enough in the lines of my poems and between them, in the silences which fall like ash flakes on the water tank from a smog bound sky.

I have cursed you because I remember the smell of Palmolive on a sealskin coat and because I feel more abandoned than a baby seal on an iceberg covered in its mother's blood.

I have cursed you as I walked and prayed on a concrete terrace high above the street because whatever I pulled down with my bruised hand from the bruised sky, whatever lovely plum came to my mouth you envied and spat out.

Because you saw me in your image, because I favored you, you punished me. It was only a form of you my poems were seeking. Neither of us knew. For years we lived together in a single skin.

We shared coats.
We hated each other as the soul hates the body for being weak,
as the mind hates the stomach for needing food,
as one lover hates the other.

I kicked in the pouches of your theories like a baby kangaroo.
I believed you on Tolstoy & Darwin.
I said I loved Pushkin (you loved him).

I vowed Monet was better than Bosch. Who cared?
I would have said nonsense to please you and frequently did.
This took the form of course, of fighting you.
We fought so beautifully.
We fought like one boxer and his punching bag.
We fought like mismatched twins.
We fought like the secret sharer and his shade.

Now, we're apart. Time doesn't heal all wounds. Separateness is real and keeps growing. One by one the mothers drop away, the lovers leave, the babies outgrow clothes. Some get insomnia- the poet's disease and sit up nights nursing at the nipples of their pens.

I have made hot milk and kissed you where you are.
I have cursed my curses.
I have cleared the air. Now I sit here writing, breathing you.

XOX,
your daughter

Theses men of Berkshire

These Men of Berkshire

Dedicated to all my hunting and fishing buddies in Berkshire Massachusetts. I hope you can all still lift the fishing pole and haul the fish home to mama. The only deer you bagging now is probably already home. Miss you guys.

Blustery winds howl as snow jets to earth.
The land freezes.
Deep Winter sets in.
The only language spoken now? "Berkshire."
From rusted hook and even nail
hats of wool and Mackinaw appear
as though from fairies in the night.
Sticks, with orange flags rise up.
Bait is at the ready.
Men who speak "Berkshire" will walk on water.
They will catch the noon meal before the sun opens its eye.
On the ice they will whisper the ancient words,
the language of the fish and ponds.
And in a huddle, by a fire on the shore,
they will sing it in a silent song.
And in their silence
they are one.

~Into a new world~

new life grows, cellular divide. Epidermis cover protects all thats within. Gestation, procreate glow of warmth face exude's. First time ever to nurture shared new life. Her body adjusts to nature's control. Little feet restless kick in the night. Smiling in sleep, morning tummy's just not right. Midwife's been called, water has broke, tiny life arrives, they lay arm in arm ... smiled eye to eye not a word said. Love that they shared one night..... has now become three~

Tick Tock

Well its that time of year once again
When the hairs a counted with a grin
An time stands still for the day
While memories serve up the past i did play
What year was it my ma gave birth
As i lie through my teeth for all its worth
When lifes plateau knows no age
An numbers count for nothing upon the stage
For the spirit of the soul you know so well
When nourished properly won't allow you to dwell
Just enjoy every second that belongs to you
Because hiccups in life are nothing new
Sacrifices an hard work to be where i am
Not where i want to be but i had no plan
Survive what i thought i needed to
Enjoyed myself too through an through
Regrets i'll shelve in the cupboard of wisdom
Wince once in awhile to balance my kingdom
I have been blessed to have had food in my belly
Black an white tv an clothes not smelly
A roof to keep the weather out
A home of peace no need for shout
An for everyone that touched my soul
I made it this far it was always my goal
Without your presence it would have been hard
Though nothing like grans bread an lard
So thanks for being there along the way
Its been a journey an another year to the day

~Lovers~

A golden hue upon silken skin
You reach out to touch
Connecting this feeling deep within....

My breath catches and my pulse race
This look, this feeling
Upon your handsome face..

The tingle of passion inside
Warm and sweet as honey you taste
Lips glide along a secret place I cannot hide...

Trembling, moaning, I toss and I turn
As lovers we come together
Passions ignite and flames wildly burn...

Stars shoot across the sky
This feeling this, wonder
I will never ask why...

Kiss me deep, kiss me slow
Your hand touches
And your lips set me aglow...

A meeting of body, hearts and mind
This feeling's so deep
Wanting so much more I find....

Clasping my arms around your strong frame
I breathe in your scent
As I call out your name...
