Where is true love?

How amazing it is to read between the lines of every act of care , to see if it be genuine, done without expecting anything in return or done with an intent up the sleeve.
How often does a person who lends a helping hand accept verbal thanks as sufficient gratitude and not expect licking of boots as a preferable reward?
How often do orphans receive gifts ananymously without an offer for cheap adoption in compensation?
Is it still true that a cheerful giver is virtuous?
How often do the destitute, the schizophrenic, mongols,the aged-and-seat ridden, the lame, etc get justice?
How often is the speechless selflessly adjudicated for?
How often is the blind led pass a bumpy crossroad without a spite?
How often is that haggard beggar taken off the street, out of the ruins into a home with no strings attached?
But every so often, so often indeed that, if by a twist of fate that beggar turns gorgeous, and begins to wine and dine with the powers that be, a flurry display of praise- singing and showy acts of care and tenderness comes knocking at the door that i cannot help, dare to ask:
Where is true love?
True love, where are you?

A promise

A promise is a thing to behold
More precious than diamonds or gold
To have ones trust in your smile will beat wealth by a mile and keep you warm when it's colder than cold

So when you speak of your love to those near
Alway remember your promise so dear
Keep it warm in your heart so that when far apart
You can light up your night without fear

To be alone in the night with no promise for light
Will be a fate too awful to bear.

A VOICE FROM ETERNITY ( sting of sin )

God is departed
And answers no more ,
Forever is closed Mercy's door.

And now in hell
My bed I make,
Because my God
I did forsake.

He called me oft,
He called me long,
But I preferred
The dance and song.

I scorned His Love
So full and free.
And said, 'A myth was
Calvary's tree.'

I rushed along
At maddening pace,
Spurning each day
His saving Grace,

Until at last death
Sounded its knell
And I awoke in the
Flames of Hell.

I thought perchance
There'd be some friends,
But OH, my God,
They're only fiends!
Not a smile or word of cheer
Do I hear,
Only the screams
Of horror and fear!

Remorse, REMORSE,
What a terrible thing
To remember, here,
How mother did sing
Of 'Amazing Grace,'
'His Love for me,'
'I've found that gift,
So full and free'.

O,for a chance again to hear
The worship chimes
Play soft and clear.

But no, there'll
Be no song,
Eternity's long;
ETERNITY'S LONG!

But I chose myself
This bitter part.
I would not give
To God my heart.

The Fiends of Hell
My heart strings rend
And cry,
" Forever ! This can't end ".

Call It A Day......

I tried to be honest but my words got in the way must of been something I was trying to say not that it would matter any way up all night is the price I pay feeling lonely in my own way shadows chasing the light away no charming words in my vocabulary today not feeling sorry for my self I wish i was right but like a kite in the wind with out a tail between my legs it's time to bail an bound to fail these tides of times well never unveil what ya say say we call it a day

Farewell Dear Poets

Embedded image from another site

I am taking this special time
To thank all the superb poets here in rhyme

For the opportunity I've had to share in this corner
All my poetry, love and emotions that made my heart warmer

It's with bitter sweetness I bid you "adieu" but add "a bientot"
Needing to focus on my book in a non-prose genre and writing flow

My research has ended on paradoxical numbers phenomena
Which caused some very real sleepless nights of insomnia

A book of intriguing stories from ordinary people around the globe
On synchronicity of seeing recurring numbers waiting to be told

There in my computer is my "I See Numbers" book in transcript
Needing to be put together into the form of a manuscript

I've loved writing poetry, exploring many subjects with emotion
It's time to take my leave and set this book in final motion

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've read so many talented verses from poetesses and poets
All your fabulous heartfelt writes have beautifully shown it
Much love to the dear poets I admire that have been here so long
The Connecting Singles experience definitely makes you strong
For all the poets that come to this corner anew
I wish much peace and love for you too
The perfect corner of the world for poetic expression
So take a bow as you make your debut
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Our lives are a journey not a destination
That moves us on winding roads as we are trekking

Through the beauty of a universe under sun, moon and stars
As our diverse travels keeps us stepping

I wish all that I have met good luck and a Happy New Year
And that someday you meet your love and jump up and cheer

The Square Dance

Sixty-four squares of black and white
they play the game throughout the night
He moves his bishop, she moves her knight
they are at war, their minds do fight

The game it started at half past eight
and to each this is the perfect date
while both of them cannot wait
to hear who will, first shout "mate"

The advantage swings from her to him
and back again, as light grows dim
he castles now on a whim
his prospects already looking grim

Losing his queen is bad indeed
her movement now is all but freed
his pieces picked off with great speed
the only choice is to concede

Her victory though does cause him pain
his manhood challenged, and finally slain
and what comes next is simply plain
let's set them up, and start again

Peace

Embedded image from another site

When I think of all the strife and trouble
In a world like pieces of an unfinished puzzle
I sadly ask myself “where is the love”
That will help us all break free of
The untold wars, hunger and hopelessness
We share together as humans in distress

In ideologies spiraling out of control
Like particles pulled into a black hole
Unable to set our spirits free
To love one another and just be

Not knowing what the future brings
Rise up and spread your wings
Love everyone pour out your hearts
This is how we begin, we start

Change begins with each of us
One act of love and kindness rendered
Multiplies as we humbly surrender
To another human in deepest splendor

Yesterday is over
The future is yet unknown
Love everyone as we take our stands
So human strife will have a closure
And peace will reign across our lands
As we reap the love in seeds we've sown

The Spirits of Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas
when all through the house
nothing did stir
not even this souse

I lay in a heap
pissed as a newt
all crumpled up
in my best dinner suit

The evening had started
with a glass of eggnog
as I sampled a slice
of the chocolate Yule log

From there I moved on
to the new Christmas beer
a double strength concoction
created to cheer

At dinner there was wine
both white and red
and the port that I tasted
went right to my head

Carols were sung
and a few of us danced
it was at this time
that a brandy I chanced

It was the one for the road
and not meant to queer pitch
but at the back of my throat
I had felt a slight itch

It slipped down and soothed
so another I had
and it was right at this time
that I started to feel bad

A whiskey's the thing
that's what I need
a large one I poured
It went down with great speed

So the night before Christmas
under tree do I lay
and don't intend stirring
throughout Christmas Day

The Mermaid (Part One)

The Mermaid (Part One)

The evening was cool
and the sky was so clear
while ripples of waves
were all I could hear

The moon shone bright
and stars twinkled on high
when from out of nowhere
came so seductive a sigh

I looked out to sea
to whence the sound came
and my eyes did believe
they were playing a game

For as waves lapped around
a rock out at sea
a beautiful vision
was sat staring at me

Naked as love
she sat all alone
on that rising edifice
of black granite stone

Her body so wondrous
that I shook with such lust
but a smile so pure
that my thoughts were unjust

Her hair was entangled
with kelp luscious green
that protected her modesty
oh what a scene

It hung down over breasts
so excitingly full
covering the parts
that are made to enthral

My mind quickly taken
by this girl of my dreams
though as I looked closer
all was not as it seems

For legs this beauty
was completely bereft
and a long fishy tail
was all she had left

Then with a smile
that made my heart still
she slipped into the water
and I saw she was real

For she dived like a dolphin
under azure sea
and all that was left
were the ripples and me

The End........or is it?

My Christmas List

Christmas is mere days away
and I've yet to write my list
so I had better get it done right now
or my chimney will be missed

Santa's sleigh will pass right by
not stopping on my roof
an empty space under the tree
will be considered proof

He will not drink his eggnog
or bite into mince pie
the carrots will be left untouched
while I will surely cry

So pen it is to paper
a bike and a dog wrote down
and then something for dressing up
the costume of a clown

I won't put socks and hankies
or any type of clothes
there is no need to write them down
as he always brings me those

Some puzzles, and a good book
and a tangerine of course
while right there at the top of list
I think I'll put a horse

Merry Christmas
