GACryptic: You back at it again. You really need to live in America on American standards before you have the right to expound of the goodness of the great president Obama that you have not personally witnessed.
So the country that espouses the strengths of free speech tells people that to have an opinion about what is happening there is wrong. Am I hearing that right?
mr1983: Why is a 75 year old working on a till in the richest country in the world? That is the real question here. I've asked some questions regarding this before. Like why in the seventies a one income family had no debt, no massive student loans, a good social life, and opportunities to save. All this at rates of tax ranging from 9% to 91%. Our answer why a 75 year old is working a till lies here.
Obama's almost 50 and still working. We wish he were retired too.
mr1983: So if people have different opinions to you, they are idiots! Ye have all the solutions and people who don't agree are stupid. The shoots of something are beginning to show here!!
Actually young pup, there are some people on here that really shouldn't recieve responses. Any response they get should be seen as a compliment.

Maybe she wants to work as much as she needs to?
My Dad is going to be 77 this year. To retire would kill him. He loves his work and he is respected for it. If he did retire neither my brother or I have his skills so the business would die as he would not sell it to anyone else.
Yeah he needs the money but even if he had millions to burn he's still be doing his gig.
Not everyone wants to retire. For some it is the worst nightmare they could have.

I am not saying people shouldn't have a choice to retire or not. I was responding to a reply I got from someone saying it was terrible that she felt she could not retire.
the AWOL Private that was arrested near Forth Hood on the threat of a terrorist attack made a big mistake. He went to the same gun store that Maj. Hasan had bough his weapons for his earlier attack. This time the clerk is a former police detective grew supscious when the private asked for unusual large amount of the smokeless gun powder and then asked what smokeless gun powder would do.
Hmmmmm? Yeah son it's kinda interesting. It actually puts out cigarettes to help people quit smoking. Y'all take this can of smokeless powder home and hold it between your knees while you drop a lit cigarette in so you can see how it does it. Git yer face down real close so you don't miss anything!

Because she wants to work, to contribute, to be self reliant, and not to mention to have self respect. At her age she could go on the dole.
But remember I said Congress now taxes the social security that they hand out? Financially she cannot win. They take FICA (social security) payment to the general fund were they earmark it to other programs. If she retires, they tax her social security payments and can set the rate to any level they wish.
She was 75 and putting in a 8 hour day and the other two of my story were early their 30s. Who should have been working today during business hours?
President Obama is taking a beating on the his approvals since the debt events of this last week. He has dropped 3 points in one poll to 40% It a recent Gallup, he is at 41%. In both they have 50% disapproving of his handling of the debt crisis. Sure Congress is getting clobbered as well. But in 2012, the Congress does not run against the President.
Drop five more point, and the US will see a new President in 2012.
Also this. In 10 states that the President narrowly one in 2008. 6 of them have him with disapprovals of 50% or more. Most of the 10 states have unemployment of over 8%. This really has the DEM 2012 re-election committee stumbling. They have to find more battle ground states to make up for these were he is running behind.
So we are starting to see a red and blue state map that does not favor the President.
This is a 101 lecture for liberals. It will explain "life". I would have typed the transcript but I knew there would be a challenge for ya'll since he does use words beyond 4 letters.
JOSÉ LUIS VILLEGAS / jvillegas@sacbee.com Though construction generally is the best-paying work for undocumented immigrants, the state's agriculture industry has depended on these workers also. Now, more are heading back to Mexico where opportunities are improving.
By Stephen Magagnini smagagnini@sacbee.com Published: Thursday, Jul. 28, 2011 - 12:00 am | Page 1B Last Modified: Thursday, Jul. 28, 2011 - 11:16 am There are fewer undocumented immigrants in California – and the Sacramento region – because many are now finding the American dream south of the border.
"It's now easier to buy homes on credit, find a job and access higher education in Mexico," Sacramento's Mexican consul general, Carlos González Gutiérrez, said Wednesday. "We have become a middle-class country."
Mexico's unemployment rate is now 4.9 percent, compared with 9.4 percent joblessness in the United States. An estimated 300,000 undocumented immigrants have left California since 2008, though the remaining 2.6 million still make up 7 percent of the population and 9 percent of the labor force, according to the Public Policy Institute of California.
Among metropolitan areas with more than 1 million residents, Sacramento County ranks among the lowest, with an unauthorized population of 4.6 percent of its 1.4 million residents in 2008, according to Laura Hill, a demographer with the PPIC.
The Sacramento region, suffering from 12.3 percent unemployment and the construction bust, may have triggered a large exodus of undocumented immigrants, González Gutiérrez said.
The best-paid jobs for undocumented migrants are in the building industry, "and because of the severe crisis in the construction business here, their first response has been to move into the service industry," González Gutiérrez said. "But that has its limits. Then, they move to other areas in the U.S. to find better jobs – or back to Mexico."Hill said it's hard to know whether the benefit of having fewer undocumented migrants outweighs the cost to employers and taxpayers.
California may have to provide less free education to the children of undocumented immigrants and less emergency medical care, she said, but it will also get less tax revenue.
In 2008, at least 836,100 undocumented immigrants filed U.S. tax returns in California using individual tax identification numbers known as ITINS, said Hill, who conducted the tax survey.
Based on those tax returns, the study found there were 65,000 undocumented immigrants in Sacramento County that year, far fewer than in many other big counties.
Sacramento's undocumented population ranked 10th in the state that year, behind Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, Santa Clara, San Bernardino, Riverside, Alameda, Contra Costa and Ventura.
There were an estimated 12,000 undocumented immigrants in Yolo County; 9,000 in the Sutter-Yuba area; and 8,000 in Placer County.
An analysis of local ZIP codes showed that Sacramento (95815, 95823, 95824), West Sacramento (95605), Clarksburg (95612), Esparto (95627), Guinda (95637), Knights Landing (95645), Winters (95694) and Woodland (95776) each had an undocumented population of 10 percent to 15 percent.
Yolo County relies heavily on migrant workers to grow and harvest crops

House approves debt bill;Senate rejects it.Mkes no sense. It looks like they're trying to stretching it out till the deadline. There's only 4 days til Aug 2.
I hope nothing happens before Aug. 2, 2011. That way everyone will see it won't be cataclysmic when the credit limit isn't raised..... ewe it's 2k all over again. No More Spending!
jvaski: RE; Debt Ceiling ...... History will read "Republicans and Tea Party held America Hostage for Political Gain"
After the Senate rejection of the House budget bill.....who did you say the party of NO was?
By the way.....the Boehener bill has balanced budget admendment in it that is pretty cute. It works this way. The debt ceiling is a two step increase. So before they go to the second step.....both House ad Senate have to make a balance budget admendment for the Constitution.....and taken it to the states for approval.
Now it takes 60% in both the House and Senate to pass a Constitutional admendement. Something in this lifetime very unlikely to occur. So basically that second debt step is out of reach. A final cap on the debt limit untill a balanced budget admendment is in the Constitution.
If the Senate does not come back with a balanced budget admendment in their revised bill, it ain't going to pass in the house. This country will default. The House REP are serious. There are no more blank checks in Washington.

I'll ask this again......WHY do the Republicans still think they're running this country - after losing the last election ? And, if we go past the date and we're downgraded by default - it purely the Republican's fault for holding the debt ceiling hostage

Looked at the composition of Congress lately,JV?
Then read the Constitution about the Duties of Congress!
Congress makes the Laws,POTUS executes them! POTUS does not legislate!
