Sampe1967: Is it better to learn from ones experience or what some guy says his research showed him? As a young child i grew up in the Aglican church which is a stray from the cotholic. In it membership was like a lifestyle. I was invited to a penticostal church when i got in my teens and i felt a major difference because people were praising and worshipping God and i saw them getting in what they called the annointing of the holy Spirit or being filled with the holyGhost. I got baptized and for seven years i saw people filled and spoke in tongues but never me. I wondered why and was told that if/when i believe, i thought i did believe then in 1990 i had the experience and it was so overwhelming even a long standing fear of death that i had was gone and i was now standing in crowds and speaking as if i had not been the shy guy of only months earlier. My life took drastic changes and i saw miracles performed. You don't have time to read all my testimonies if i should write them. I just need an Atheist to explain to me what if not the Holy spirit being real that happened on the 20th day of August about 1:30pm 1990 that made my language change and my body to shake as if i was not the owner and in that moment it was lie the other members were not there and i was just reaching at the foot of a thone with his majesty loving me/.
For someone who believes in god miracles, you seem to be placing allot of value on your personal life. Why would god choose you, who seems to me will never starve to death or die of related illness over a million children who will die by the age of 5 from either disease or malnutrition? Is your Christian god more attentive to your needs then say a Christian god in Ethiopia? It seems to me that god helps those who help themselves, but if you have no means of helping yourself, not through the lack of faith but through the lack of resources then this god will be quite happy to watch you parish.
Are you sure you didn’t make a deal with the devil?
I see no point in dissing anyone who believes or disbelieves in God. Obviously, taking jabs at people for their personal beliefs seems to be the norm here.

Dogmatism and skepticism are both, in a sense, absolute philosophies; one is certain of knowing, the other of not knowing. What philosophy should dissipate is certainty, whether of knowledge or ignorance.
AustralianGirlAU: Neither the Godists or the Dawkinists can argue this one and it's been done to death so to parapharase a classic letter, 'yes Virginia there is a santaclause or god...it exists in the hearts or minds'
Believe what you want! But best for us all to not ram our dogmas and ims down other peoples throats
Why can we not have a discussion about this? Why is it that religion minded folks are always so sensitive about this topic ? Religion has been rammed down the throats of mankind for centuries, it's time for another point of view, mankind is finally allowed to have one without being burned at the stake,,. If religious types can't take it, they don't have to be in these type of discussions, but of course they have plenty of opinions to offer,,,

Hear Ye Children,
Only I exist, and in Me all of you and this universe of many universes. I always was, I always am, and I shall always be. My true nature is to constantly work to create, sustain it, and then destroy it to renew it to a next fresh start. Just like a river must constantly flow to prevent its water from becoming muddy and stagnant, and all life forms in it to die. I must constantly work without any rest or the whole universe will come to a standstill. Enjoy your time I have bestowed upon you to your fullest and the best...in Me while you can. You are in good and very capable hands. You are always in Me. You have no other place to go to. As for Me...I am, I am, and I am for eternity.

Very good,, I'm glad you did not go into immaculate conceptions, resurrections, raising from the dead, heaven and hell after life, eternal condemnation,,, etc,,,

I would also add to this,, I gave you free will. And,,, you are in Heaven, why do some of you insist in making Hell out of it,,,
GoDaniel: I am very sorry to hear about your friend!! You both are in my thoughts and prayers!!
She passed away shortly before midnight last night. She had been posting a journal the last 3 months of her "journey". Quite a gift from a woman of Faith.
ooby_dooby: When I was a kid I think I believed in god because my mother told me that he was real and being my mother I trusted everything she ever told me must be true. I also was a strong believer in Santa Claus. I remember having an argument with my friend Jimmy about Santa clause and gradually I had to agree that Santa probably wasn't real but make believe. Have you ever thought of the words "make believe" MAKE BELIEVE say it slowly and you might get the message in those words. Ok so here I am, my belief in Santa clause was shattered. The whole story was a made up lie. What else was I told that was also a lie? I was thinking about this a few weeks ago. The creation of Santa clause has turned more people away from religion than anything else. Whoever created this Santa Claus myth created a fatal virus to the fairy tale of this god myth.
As long as there are children there will be the magic of Santa Clause.
And the wonders of God are in creation. To say it with humor:
The scientists formed a committee to tell God he was no longer required in the creation of human life. After all one had been created in a test tube.
God listened and suggested they show him. The scientists chose their most brilliant and proceeded to create human life. He picked up a lump of clay.
The sky grew dark, the thunder roared, the lightning flashed. God said: Get your own clay!
Even the most brialliant mind of science, Einstein, believed there was a God behind creation!

But not the kind of god you refer to.
Albert Einstein: God is a Product of Human Weakness
"The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this."
Letter to philosopher Eric Gutkind, January 3, 1954

Yes - to further clarify, Einstein's god was Spinoza's god and Spinoza was an excommunicated Jew for his pantheistic views that did not sit with Jewish religious visions of an interventionist personified god.
I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it. (Albert Einstein, 1954)
I believe in Spinoza's God who reveals himself in the orderly harmony of what exists, not in a God who concerns himself with the fates and actions of human beings. (Albert Einstein)
