For the love of Allah

Hey stringman, have you replaced your bible with WND.com? Not that it makes much difference anyway because they both lack credibility.

RE: Do these people love each other

Sounds like they are 2 "type A" individuals. Arguing is a form of communication but if it gets hurtful it's time to seek professional help with learning to communicate in a more positive, less destructive way. Sometimes avoiding conflict can be worse than having a good argument because feelings are suppressed and the problem is never brought out into the light of day and festers over time until it results in killing the relationship. That is just as unhealthy.

For the love of Allah

Be Honest Leo, would you be able to handle 72 totally inexperienced young women coming at you at once? There would be lots of blood and it would all be yours. I would wish that you were not circumcized because you would need all the skin you had. Your Walnuts would look like Raisins.

What I can't understand is why one branch of a religion would want to wipe out another branch of the same religion. The other thing I'll never understand is why we in the western world would ever set foot in regeons of the world where this insanity takes place. We must be as crazy as they are only it's a different form of insanity, Greed.confused

RE: Valentines Day: How to spend it if you are single.

Well, I spent V-Day having an hour long 3 way with a beautiful blonde and a brunette. It wasn't a pleasurable experience however as instead of me drilling holes in them, the brunette was busy drilling holes in my teeth and the blonde was assisting her with medieval instruments of torture while dropping bits of phosphoric acid on my tongue. If that wasn't bad enough, when it was over I left this dungeon over $300.00 poorer.sigh

RE: What is it about your favourite song that makes it so special to you?

This song brings tears to my eyes.

I don't really have 1 favorite, I have hundreds.

The State of the Union speech and my thoughts

Who cares if Awlaki was a citizen? He was a terrorist and he was instrumental in the Fort Hood mass murder and also he was behind The underwear bomber Abdulmutallab. What if Abdulmutallab succeeded in blowing up that plane full of other American "Citizens"? Totally innocent everyday people. If American citizenship was so damn important to you rightwingnuts why don't you make a stink about all the American citizens who have been put to death by the state for crimes they didn't commit? There are probably 1000's of people in prison right now who were railroaded by crooked prosecutors, police, and judges, some of them on death row right now waiting to be executed.

What is the best show on TV right now?

Speaking of which I can't understand more than about 20% of what Bernadette (Big Bang Theory) is saying most of the time. She sounds like the martians in that movie "Mars Attacks". Everything that comes out of her mouth sounds like dap dap dap dap.

The State of the Union speech and my thoughts

Riiiight, all he did was end 2 wars that George Bush started, killed the man that George Bush failed to get "Dead or Alive", fixed the healthcare system in this country that NO president has been able to do for 100 years. Hillary and Bill tried but they couldn't take the heat from the Repubs who were owned by the insurance companies and they caved and threw in the towel.

The State of the Union speech and my thoughts

As I watched the President deliver the state of the union speech last night, My mind wandered back to July 27, 2004 when he gave the keynote address up in Boston at the Democratic National Convention for candidate John Kerry. If you have never seen it, you wont understand why people have said that this speech was what earned him 2 terms as President of the United States.
This is the full speech here: (18:47 minutes)
A shorter version with commentary here: (6:13 minutes)
My thought at that time was. Where on earth did we get such a speaker? Watch this speech and ask yourself why do so many haters say such nasty things about this great man.
I thought last night about the how certain events play out and not always the way you would expect.
John Kerry didn't win in that race ...unfortunately, George Bush did. 4 years later Barack Obama ran for President against Hillary Clinton and won the election. Subsequently he made Hillary Clinton Secretary of State. After Hillary Clinton decided to retire he gave the job to John Kerry.
This is the point at which I couldn't help but see the irony of all these events.
John Kerry ran for President & lost.
Barack Obama delivered for Kerry what some call the best speech ever made.
Hillary Clinton ran for President & lost.
Barack Obama gives Clinton & Kerry the job of Secretary of State.
Sometimes I wonder what John Kerry and Hillary Clinton think about how things worked out.

RE: is there EVER a good enough reason for a man to hit a women????

I got into a brawl with 2 guys one New Years Eve. It was all a big mistake. Anyway, I decided to go after the bigger guy and get him out of the way then kick the seeds out of the smaller one. I got the big guy on the floor where I was at home and had him in a headlock getting ready do a number on his face when he dug his nails into my face like a woman. I had to let him go when he grabbed my hair and started to drag me out of the apartment. I figured he had to let my hair go sooner or later and when he did I was ready to deliver a goodnight right hook. I felt his grip release my hair and I sprung up hauled back and let a sunday punch fly right at his face. That punch was all the strength I had cause I knew it was my only shot. Right at that moment his gf jumped in between us and that haymaker landed on her cheekbone. She dropped like a sack of potatoes. Damn! Now this guy is gonna be pissed because I just knocked out his gf. I figured my best bet was to get the hell out of there so I made for the door and after a little more scuffling outside we were both too tired to go on.
That was the only time I ever hit a woman and it was an accident.

RE: Who is the funniest man on tv right now?

I never watched Carson or any late night talk shows so I have never heard of most on your list. Given that they are all reading lines that other, mostly unknown, authors wrote, it boils down to who has the best timing and delivery. Lately the person who gives me the most hearty laughs is Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory.
Of the choices you gave I have to go with Jay Leno.

RE: Do you think the recession was engineered?

The recession wasn't "engineered" but it was "man made". It was basically a result of un-regulated financial institutions runaway risky behavior, fraud, and greed. Whole books have been written on the causes of this last great, yes great, recession. The thing that makes this recession so enduring is the fact that the world doesn't work these days like it did say 50 years ago. As machines get more efficient, faster, smaller, smarter, there is far less need for human involvement. I think the only way that employment will be anything like it used to be is if the population growth begins to decline.
Just look at how the Internet has destroyed so many thriving business's of the past. Mail has largely been replaced by email, newspapers which used to employ a lot of people are going out of business left & right replaced by Google & wikipedia and online news. Even education is going online eliminating the need for teachers and brick & mortar schools.
Think about this, for over 100 years humans have been designing machines to take the work out of everyday tasks, in other words, humans have been working to put themselves out of a job, so how come everybody is so fixated on creating jobs when we have been eliminating jobs at a feverish pace?
During the presidential campaigns I had to laugh at how so many pundits kept shouting "Where are the jobs we need jobs, jobs, jobs." All I could think of was "Well, you're getting what you asked for, less work for mother (and poppa). This whole "jobs" issue was a red herring.
A gruesome example of progress is it used to take 2 men with a shovel a back breaking day to dig a grave, today a backhoe can dig a grave in about 10 minutes.

RE: Obamas "Kill Americans" Memo, The Dawn of the Drones

If you're talking about Anwar al Awlaki I would kill him myself. He was a traitor and traitors normally get killed by firing squad. His end came too quick, he didn't even know what hit him.

Rice Pudding

Cool, let me know how you like it.
I should clarify that you should use 2 cups of uncooked rice and 4 cups of water for non cooks who may not know that.

Rice Pudding

RICE PUDDING Extra Large Batch
6 Eggs
1.5 Cups Sugar
3/8 Tsp Salt
7 Cups of Milk
4 Cups of Cooked Rice (2:1 is the ratio Water:Rice)
1.5 Tbsp of Vanilla
1 Cup of Raisins
Cinnamon/Sugar for top

You'll need a 9X12X2.5 baking pan, you can buy lids for them. The lid will keep the rice pudding from drying out or you can use plastic wrap or Aluminum foil.
Start the water for the rice. While you're waiting for the water to boil, crack open the eggs into a big (10”) bowl, wisk the eggs, add the milk, sugar, vanilla, and wisk the mixture to dissolve the sugar.
By now the rice water is probably boiling. Dump the rice into the water, stir and bring back to a boil. After it is boiling again lower the heat to simmer. Put about a Tbsp (1/2 inch) of a stick of butter in the baking pan and set it on top of the pot with the rice. The steam will melt the butter in the pan. Use a basting brush to spread the melted butter all over the inside of the baking pan. When that's done remove the baking pan and set aside. When the rice is done dump it into the baking pan and level it off. Sprinkle the raisins around. Ladle the egg mixture onto rice. Dust the top with Cinnamon. Bake at 350 for 60 minutes, Lower the temperature to 300 and continue baking for 45 minutes. Shut off oven but don't remove the rice pudding until it no longer looks liquidy in the middle.
For a nice change of pace instead of raisins use fresh blueberries or “Craisins”.

Rice Pudding

I just made a batch of Rice Pudding with brown rice. I had lots of brown rice and decided to use some up. It came out pretty good, a little chewy but the brown rice gives it a kind of nutty taste. Brown rice takes a little longer to cook than white rice and it blows up really well.
I'll post the recipe if anybodies interested.

RE: Video warns Obama: People will fight for guns

But according to the Bush Doctrine The US can invade any country that we think might be planning to attack us. A "Pre-emtive Strike" so to speak.

RE: Do you look back on your high school years with warm memories?

This poll is ill-conceived. There are 3 YES and 3 NO options. Why not just YES or NO?

RE: Place to visit in the States...

Why did you pick those destinations?
I drove through Albuquerque on the old route 66 about 30 years ago, there wasn't anything there then and I doubt there's anything there now. Not much to see in NC except Kitty Hawk where the Wright Bros flew their air plane but even that is just a tourist trap, there's nothing there except a wide flat beach. FL has a lot of different attractions Disneyland, Universal theme park Cape Canaveral the Everglades etc. IMO the best part of FL is old florida that is the center of the state away from all the tourists. Go in March when the orange trees are in blossom, the smell is intoxicating.

RE: What Is Your Idea About The Film " Innocence Of Muslim " ?

It was so bad the guy who made it denied having anything to do with the film.

RE: What Is Your Idea About The Film " Innocence Of Muslim " ?

The acting sucked.
The special effects sucked.
The story sucked.
The filming location sucked.
I would rather watch a rerun of I Love Lucy.

The future of life on this planet is not garranteed

I know what you mean, lately it's been a waste of time even coming in here. I've been seriously thinking of leaving this place for good. It's beautiful women like you that keeps me coming back.hug

The future of life on this planet is not garranteed

I just watched the video 3 more times and can't find where she said 10,000 years from now. This Methane is being released right now.

Here is a major source of greenhouse gases that lead to global warming. A partial solution to global warming, and a total solution to this terrible waste of energy would be to capture the gas that is being flared (burned) and using it to heat homes, generate electricity and power motor vehicles. Flaring at oil refineries and drill sites has been going on for over 50 years and it is one of the most ignored problems in the oil business. It's a practice the big oil companies don't want people to know about.

The future of life on this planet is not garranteed

Whether global warming is man made or not may no longer be an issue. The bigger question is, can mankind do anything to arrest the trend.

Be sure to watch the video.

RE: Video warns Obama: People will fight for guns

Arm all school bus drivers. In addition to having all school teachers carry a gun in class, every checkout person at the supermarket as well as every priest, gas station attendant, bank teller, hamburger flipper at McDonalds, auto parts counterman, librarian. You just never know when somebody's going to flip out and start shooting and this way good people can shoot back. Hitting innocent bystanders by accident is just the price you have to pay to be safe. Just the cost of doing business so to speak.

BTW the foregoing was sarcasm in case you're like Sheldon and can't recognise it.

Here's some lite reading for you.

I especially like this comment from the above article:
"He is also described as a very paranoid person who goes around his yard at night with a flashlight and a shotgun."

Waiting for the thunderstorms

It's 68 deg here right now, no rain yet but the wind is starting to blow.

Waiting for the thunderstorms

Well, there's a line of pretty violent thunderstorms heading my way. We can use the rain but I don't like the high winds. I'm surrounded by very big Loblolly pine trees and if one of those babies falls on my house I'll be in deep doo doo. It was 70 degrees plus here today so there's lots of energy for this storm to feed on. Once this starts I'll lose the link to the satelite and wont be able to get on line. I just hope we don't lose power, that always sucks.very mad
