RE: horder of money

Hoarding money is not a very good investment strategy. Money must be put to work so that it can grow.
Probably the second worse thing you can do with money is to put it in a bank. Exceeded only by putting it under a mattress.

could you possibly copy/paste this cryptic message? I've been seeing similar things on other sites which leads me to believe that it is somehow connected to hacking activity.

So I had sort of a date for Christmas.

Not a chance. No chemistry, besides she extremely religious and you know that's kind of a deal breaker anyway.

So I had sort of a date for Christmas.

The lady came up from downstairs and we watched a movie "Heart and Souls" Anyone ever seen it? I made a fresh pot of Maple/Walnut coffee and served some home made Pumpkin pie with Graham Cracker crust. We had lots of laughs watching the movie. It takes place in San Fransisco and she used to live there and was familiar with many of the scene locations.

Gas (petrol) prices

Here's a "heat map" for the whole country.

Gas (petrol) prices

Plan on a gas stop in South Carolina also. VA & SC are the 2 cheapest states on the East Coast right now. Avoid getting gas in NC.

Proof of gods existence or non existence?

Interesting question. I think no. if someone is suspected of commiting murder but there is no evidence that he did it, does it mean he didn't do it? No! He still could have done it but there isn't any evidence to prove it.

Gas (petrol) prices

$1.95 per US gallon for regular unleaded here in Richmond VA. at Sams Club. Sams Club requires a paid membership like Costco & BJ's.

1 Gallon US = 3.785 liters
1 Liter = .2642 Gallons

So that works out to about 52 cents per liter.

Bedford-Stuyvesant is right next to Brownsville where Mike Tyson grew up. Tough neighborhood. I lived 5 miles from there for several years.

RE: femini

You dodged a bullet and you don't even know it. This is a common trait of a control freak. The next thing he would have done if you oblidged him by calling would be to ask you to help him out with a little money probably because his equipment was siezed by the authorities and he needs the money to get them back so he can earn the money to pay you back. Of course his credit card for some unknown reason doesn't seem to work in S.A. Oh and his daughter needs emergency medical care too and because he's a widower (his wife died in a horrible car crash)violin blah blah blah blah

RE: Cuban In Miami...Worst than Castro

I'm sure that thought went through any number of minds.wink

RE: Cuban In Miami...Worst than Castro

In 1960 Fidel Castro came to New York for the opening session of the United Nations, and, after storming out of the Hotel Shelburne in Midtown Manhattan (Lexington Ave at 38th ST) because of the manager's demand for payment in cash, (actually, the Shelborne didn't want him there because of his anti American rhetoric, demanding cash was just a means to an end) he and his entourage stayed at the Theresa, (a hotel at 124 ST & 7th Ave in Harlem) where they rented 80 rooms for $800 per day. According to the New York Times, Castro felt that "Negroes would be more sympathetic" to his cause, and indeed he drew enthusiastic crowds of supporters, along with some protesters. While Castro was there, he was visited by Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev, as well as by such luminaries as Malcolm X, poets Langston Hughes and Allen Ginsburg, Gamal Abdel Nasser, the president of Egypt, and Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru of India. Subsequent to Castro's visit, other Third World leaders, such as Patrice Lumumba of the Belgian Congo, chose to stay at the Theresa.

RE: Scientific Evidence?...MMM!

Maybe if it wasn't Clint Eastwood but Woody Allen who starred in the movie we'd all be hoping they drowned.laugh laugh

RE: Scientific Evidence?...MMM!

I like to think they made it, why I don't know because they were all convicted criminals. I'm absolutely sure they were aware of the tides and water temp not to mention sharks because it's probably common knowledge to everybody from the area. The flotation devices they fabricated would have given them at least partial ability to get some of their body out of the frigid water. My final opinion is that they all perished because surely some evidence would have surfaced by now if any one of them made it. I'm sad to say that they all drowned. But it was a good try and made for a wonderful story.

Russia is spiralling down into recession

Proof of gods existence or non existence?

Dear lady, It is not the responsibility of people who don't believe the fairy tale that has been created 1000's of years ago by some very clever manipulators that virtually everything in the bible is hogwash, it is your responsibility to prove it's true and you people have been unable to accomplish that task in all the centuries that have elapsed since the original ridiculous version of the creation of the universe known as Genesis! Are you kidding me? Genesis is the stupidest thing I ever read. It reads like it was written by a cave man. But you believe it whole heartedly. You say I don't know what I'm talking about but your knowledge dates back from the stone age.

I gave you a a reasoned mathematical example of how it's impossible for this creation you call god to be able to listen to all the prayers voiced by all the people on earth who pray but you haven't provided anything to counter my facts except to say I don't know anything.
So, where is your proof of gods existence?

Russia is spiralling down into recession

Here's another sober article about Russias future.

Russia is spiralling down into recession

Russia just raised interest rates to 17% from 10.5% This rate hike comes just 4 days after last Thursday when Russia hiked rates to 10.5% from 8% in an effort to combat inflation, which rose 9.1% year over year in November.

The announcement was made at 1 a.m. local time in Moscow.

One oclock in the morning!

The chart in the link shows how many more rubles it takes to exchange for 1 US dollar.

Russia is starting to resemble Zimbabwe. Pretty soon the Russian people will be using rubles for toilet paper.
Nice going Vladimere!

Proof of gods existence or non existence?

That's another fallacy, we wont find out because once your heart stops beating your brain soon dies and all electrical impulses in your nerves stop and your body starts to rot. All that remains is a fading memory of you and whatever you managed to create while you were alive be it art, music, constructs etc.

People who believe in god like to scare everybody with the threat of burning in some place they've created that they call hell but at the same time they say that only your soul or spirit lives on so it is your soul or spirit that will go through eternity burning in hell. A soul or a spirit is not a living thing made of flesh & blood therefore these items can't even feel the fire because they are not alive. So even the thought of my spirit or soul as they call it burning for eternity is of no concern to me, because my body will be rotting in the ground and it wont feel a thing.

The big gun that believers bring out is this scare tactic of spending an eternity burning in hell. To me, this is of absolutely no consequence. I couldn't care less. Once you throw off this fear that they have tried to instill in you, you will finally be free to live your one life to the fullest without wondering what will happen after you drop dead.

Proof of gods existence or non existence?

Actually my second question about prayer relates to my first question about absolute proof. You see a lot of people were contributing little more than rhetoric and rote like the one member who said "FAITH AMEN". So I decided to prime the pump so to speak with a simple question and you provided me with an answer, for which I thank you.

You asserted that god listens to everyone who believes in him. It follows that if a person didn't believe in him they certainly wouldn't waste their time praying to him now would they? Therefore it can be concluded that whoever prays to god obviously must believe in him.
Now, Consider this:
The world population is more than 7 Billion that's (7,000,000,000)

The percentage who Identify with a religion according to a major religious website is 80.00%

The number of people who Identify with a religion then is 5.6 Billion
(5,600,000,000)

The percentage of people who pray is 80% (same website)

The number of people who pray once a week is 4.48 Billion (4,480,000,000)

There are 10,080 minutes in a week So the number of people praying at any one time works out to 444,444

The number of different languages in the world is 6,500

So, at any one time, god is listening to 444,444 prayers
spoken in 6,500 different languages
and he understands all these languages even though
90% of them didn't even exist in the time of Christ.
and they were invented not by him but by people
which means he had to learn 6500 languages just to understand all these prayers.

Now I anticipate your response to my mathematical proof of the non existence of god by saying,
Well, he's all powerful and he can do anything and he probably put all those 6,500 languages in peoples minds to start with. Which begs another question. Where is all this "Free will" I hear you folks talk about? Putting stuff in our heads doesn't sound like free will to me.

Proof of gods existence or non existence?

Does god listen to everybody's prayer even if he/she doesn't answer all of them? does god at least listen to all of them?

RE: Would you give up a relationship for your dog?

Giving or getting an ultimatum it's me or the pet is a big no no. It's a quick way to end a relationship only an idiot wouldn't know that.

Just to clear up some misconceptions about me and what I wrote (I knew I would probably draw some arrows for it) I don't hate animals, quite the contrary. Growing up we were owned by an adorable Boston Terrier named Jacky. Our apt building was sold and we had to move where dogs weren't allowed and during that time Jacky disappeared. Though she never admitted it, I believe my mom gave him away. I've had very many cats most just showed up and decided to stay. I took care of my sons cat "Sascha" for 6 months after my son moved to KY. In my life I've owned a farm with at various times 5 beef cows, 18 pigs 2 cats, 2 ducks, and 32 chickens. Does this sound like a man who hates animals?

OK, Back to the crux of this thread.
I met a woman, Barbara, who had a dog and a long haired cat. She got the cat from her mother who had the cat de-clawed because she was afraid it would scratch her precious couch. I find it ironic that an "animal lover" would rip a cats claws out. This cat was schizophrenic because of this and it was a biter.
The dog was a "Sheltie" that she inherited from a babysitting job years earlier. The former owners of the dog were the worst owners a dog could have. They didn't feed the dog instead they let the dog out at night to fend for itself so naturally the dog learned to survive by ransacking people garbage cans. Barb was incapable of training the dog to not attack the garbage which it did until the day it died. On several occasions I came home from work to find the kitchen floor covered with the contents of the garbage can. Nothing edible of course because the dog consumed it all including chicken bones.

Well at this time I was living in a really nice apartment in Columbus Ohio and the new found love of my life moved in with me with the dog & cat. The apt complex had a no dog policy and one day when we were at work someone from the complex came by for some reason and naturaly the dog started barking it's head off. We got a notice either the dog goes or we go. Barb moved back to New Jersey while I began looking for another place to live and I bought a house and she, along with the cat and the dog, moved back in with me in the house. I knew they were a package deal and I never suggested she get rid of the dog though I probably had the most valid case imaginable.
I know this will sound cruel, but I think the dog would have loved the idea of being buried in a garbage can.
