RE: WHY I'M AFRAID OF HILLARY CLINTON

"our next president."?
When did Ontario become the 51st state? Maybe you need to explore a few alternate sources of information besides that extreem right phoney website WND.

Somebody please stick a fork in Bill Cosby

I think he's done.

Bye bye Greece

Does Greece even have any Dracma's printed up? Outside of tourism what resources does Greece have to generate revenue? Oil? Agriculture? Manufacturing?

Modern Classical music

influentes like Appelation
influences like Appalachian

Sorry a little brain fart there. :(

Modern Classical music

Music composed 100's of years ago by the likes of Bach, Mozart, Debussy, Vivaldi etc has been enjoyed by billions over the ages. I think there are pieces of music being created today which could be considered "Classical" to future generations. What I call "Modern Classical". Modern Classical music differs from classical music of the past with the addition of voice and often a strong Afro-centric rhythm, jazz, regional influentes like Appelation Blue Grass, Cajun, C&W (what I call cowboy music) even music which has its roots in Rock & Roll.

Here is a small list I put together which I think would qualify as "Modern Classical music". All of them can be found on youtube. I'll post 1, you can search for the rest. They are:
Blue Sky - Allman Brothers
Watcher of the Skies - Genesis
Controversial Suite - Duke Ellington
Ballad Medley - Gene Krupa
My own house medley - David Bromberg

Are there any you think would qualify as "Modern Classical music"?

RE: Do you believe in The Rapture?

Dear XboxGamerGirl,

You are too beautiful and valuable to waste your life worrying about something that will never happen. Live for today, not some future life in some spirit world which doesn't even exist. I'm sorry to have to burst your bubble but you have been duped. There is no second coming of a guy who died centuries ago if he, in fact, even existed at all. It's hard to accept that you have been lied to by the people who love you and who you love, but it's not their fault, they have been duped too.
Nobody likes to think that one day we're all gonna die, there's no escaping that, and what's even worse, unless a person does something really great, he or she wont even be remembered as having existed a 100 years after they die.

I use to be a believer, but I had too many questions which were never answered in a way that made any sense. I also believed in Santa Claus until I could no longer accept that Reindeer can fly and there's no way a fat man will fit down a chimney, and that's just for starters.

The church crowd says when you die, though your body ceases to exist, your spirit lives on and your spirit faces 2 futures for eternity, if you were "good" you go to heaven or if you were "evil" your spirit spends eternity burning in hell. Who Cares? You wont feel anything either way because you will be a spirit.

RE: has Whitney Houston the most powerful singing voice..?

Whitney Houston did have a great voice. Here's a song by another powerful voice Ethel Merman. I love a line near the end "A man may be hot, but he's not, when he's shot." Or this one "A man never trifles, with gals who carry rifles."

RE: A Cat

I've been raising chickens for eggs since 2003. My greatest loss of full grown laying hens was by my neighbors Black Lab. She killed at least 2 dozen of my hens. She never ate them, just killed them and left them right where she snuffed out their life. She only stopped killing my hens when she got too old and fat to catch them. My neighbor got another dog called a "Fiest" which is a squirrel hunting dog when the Lab died and the killing resumed with a vengence. My neighbor has since moved and I no longer have to worry about other peoples "pets" killing my chickens. BTW, this neighbor with the dogs never paid me a penny for my losses.

Chickens produce food for humans, they also produce some of the best fertilizer available. Dogs produce nothing, rather they merely consume food which can be used to feed hungry people.

Ferel cats are wiping out wild birds, In particular, birdwatchers consider the outdoor cat their nemesis; earlier this year, the scientific journal, Nature Communications backed up their concerns, stating that as many as 3.7 billion birds across the continental U.S. are killed by feral cats.

RE: A Cat

Kill the cat!
You'll be doing yourself, your chicks and your neighbors a favor.
The last thing I would do is feed the cat.

RE: People who have passed

I think CS should make a rule that if you die you should let eveybody know you died and delete your profile. I mean Come on, don't leave us all hanging.

RE: What will Barack Obama do when his White House gig is up?

Maybe he'll follow Jimmy Carter and work with Habitat for Humanities by building houses for homeless people. I doubt he'll hide at his house and just let the clock run out like George Bush does.

RE: Minnesota Muslims brutally honest: 'We want Shariah'

As I have said on a number of occasions on here and elsewhere, mocking a persons name is totally counter productive and a major turnoff to anyone who you hope to sway to your side. It may feel good but it serves no purpose other than to make people peg you as a hateful guy with a closed mind and not worth the effort to engage in a meaningful discussion with you because it will be nothing but a waste of time.

RE: What is your reason to live?

I live, because as long as I'm alive, there is the chance, however remote, that someday I may get the oportunity to meet and make love to you.lips

Capitalism Hits The Fan by Richard Wolff

Last night

I noticed a car going very slowly down the road in front of my house and right by my driveway they stopped and shut their lights off. It was hard to see through the leaves of the Magnolia tree in front of my house so I couldn't tell who it was or what they were doing. Then about a half a minute later another car came down the road going in the same direction and they too stopped about 4 car lengths behind the first car and also shut off their lights. This was getting kind of creepy and I started to get worried that maybe they were up to no good or maybe it was a swat team getting ready to invade my dwelling.

Every once in a while I saw the flicker of a light coming from the cars like maybe from a cell phone or lighting a cigarette. I figured they were communicating with each other and probably waiting for backup.

I decided to investigate so I quietly snuck out of the house and stood in the dark for a minute to get my eyes accustomed to the darkness and slowly, stealthily made my way up the driveway toward the road. I was confident that I couldn't be seen because I was wearing dark clothes. There were fireflies everywhere and I hoped they wouldn't give me away.

I got up to the road and the first car was gone but it was too dark to see if the other car was there unless I walked across the road. I didn't want to do that because then they might see me back-lighted from the glow from the stars. I thought "what the heck, I have as much right to be on the road as they do" so I slowly crossed over the road where I could see the car clearly. But there was no car.
Then it dawned on me, I wasn't seeing headlights going on & off, it was fireflies. I made my way back to the house hoping I wouldn't walk smack into a tree.moping

Is the world safer today, or when Saddam Hussein was in control of Iraq

hey hotburninlove, you seem like an intelligent fellow so it amazes me that you never learned such a simple reality that in order to engage in a productive debate, it pays not to insult and defame the name, intelligence, heritage, appearance, and manhood of your opponents leader. When you do that (and you never fail to) it only turns the discussion into an antagonistic argument and nothing meaningful is ever accomplished or worse, your comment is lost, and nobody reads what you have to say because they've heard it all so many times before.
Do yourself a favor and stop acting like you're still in high school.

Noah's Ark

Good Morning Sunshine, You can't be talking about me because I'm not an Atheist, I'm a Scientist, and as such everything I claim is subject to peer review and must be able to be duplicated anywhere, anytime. The fairy tales in the bible are exempt from peer review but must be accepted without question according to the Mafia called the Church.
If believers can't accept fact checking of the fables they were spoon fed from birth, they have my condolences to spend their entire lives in the dark.

Noah's Ark

I've been doing a little math involving building a boat the size of the Ark and the the results are mind boggling. Using green Cedar which is probably as close to "Gopher wood" as most experts contend I was able to calculate the size and weight of log which would be needed to construct a boat capable of staying together at sea in even calm water without the bottom buckling or the sides caving in. The beams would need to be a foot thick. In order to get a square beam that size would require a log of 16" diameter and a 20 foot log would weigh 725 lbs. Using a stone Axe (Noah predates even the bronze age) it would take a man about a day to fell a 16" tree and cut it to length and haul it to the build site. One man can't haul a 725 lb log by himself, it would take at least 4 men. At the rate of 1 tree a day just felling the trees would take over 11 years. This doesn't account for the time to sharpen the stone axes or make new handles when they break either. The total weight of the logs (4049 of them) would amount to, wait for it,
Two million, nine hundred thirty five thousand, five hundred and twenty five lbs. 2,935,525 lbs.
11 years just to cut down the trees. How long to build a boat that big? What holds the logs together? Glue? Nails? No steel remember? Even if they had nails, what would they hammer them in with, a stone hammer?

I'm going to bed!

RE: time of earth before religion

Yeah, and toasted his retina's, then the one eyed man took over. laugh

RE: Amtrak Crash

It makes no sense to me that this was a suicide attempt. Flying a jetliner into the ground is a sure way to end your life. Running a train off the tracks on a curve isn't. There is every possibility that you will survive with minor injuries at best and be crippled for life at worst. Now if he had the ability to smash headon into another train I might buy the suicide theory but that isn't possible on Amtrack.

RE: Pacquiao or Mayweather?

I agree with your description of their styles however I'm really not sure who the winner will be. This fight just may go to the score cards. Unless of course one of them gets in some lucky punches. They're both fast, accurate and powerful so anything is possible.

RE: If HIllary becomes president

I wonder what would be different today if Hillary won the last election in 08 instead of Obama?

What the hell is a "Pure Woman" rolling on the floor laughing
Your profile says you're an Atheist so how are you going to pick up a woman in church?
Oh and one more thing, I guess you already know this but most women, pure or otherwise, favor men over 5 feet tall, just sayin.dunno

Nepal is dying and Baltimore is burning and nobody is talking about it

Freezing to death on a mountain with no hope of rescue just may be a less comforting way to die than having a house fall on you, snuffing you out like a cockroach.

Nepal is dying and Baltimore is burning and nobody is talking about it

I'm talking about over 4,000 lives lost at last count and many more as yet unknown. A hundred climbers are stranded on mount Everest. They could freeze to death when they run out of food & fuel.

There is a riot going on in Baltimore with businesses being looted and burned by criminals. These creeps are also attacking fire fighters trying to put out the fires. It will take at least 10 years to undo the damage to the infrastructure of Baltimore and longer to heal the image of a major American city.

RE: Post your best of 50's 60's

This is the original recording. There have been many re-issues and many live performances and they all sound a little different but this is the best one of all.
