RE: MONEY!!

Two arrested in thefts of cemetery urns

It seems these low life's were traveling all over the state and making off with bronze flower urns for their scrap value. It has become almost an epidemic the quest for scrap metal by anybody trying to make money in any way possible. Craigslist is flooded with ads looking for junk cars to recycle for cash.

RE: American Greed

There's a lot of conflict of interest in existance when a judge can very easily invest in a company like Corrections Corporation of America
Symbol (CXW) If they want to keep it quiet they can and probably do trade stock in their wife or kids name. This way the more people they put behind bars the more profit the Co makes and the stock price goes up. This way a judge can have a direct influence on their "investment".

It pays to keep in mind that almost all judges were lawyers at one time.

Making Yogurt

About 8 months ago I acquired a "Salton" yogurt maker from the recycle tent at my local dump. I was very excited and couldn't wait to try it out. It turns out a yogurt maker really doesn't make yogurt. All it does is keep the yogurt at the perfect temperature for about 10 hours while the bacteria or enzymes do their magic.
Anyway, I got some instructions for making yogurt online and made my first batch. I didn't add any flavorings or sugar, just made plain yogurt. It turned out very well. The only problem there wasn't enough of it and it was gone pretty quick.
I decided that it would be no more work to make a bigger batch, but for that I would need a second yogurt maker or a bigger one. So once again I turn to the internet looking for answers. I went through pages of yogurt makers on Amazon and happened onto one that doesn't use electricity. Basically what it is, is a super insulated Styrofoam container with a plastic liner and it keeps the mixture warm by trapping the heat. I could make something like that I thought and started designing a big Styrofoam box out of 2" thick construction Styrofoam like they use to insulate houses. I had my design all layed out and I was on the verge of going to Home Depot to buy the 4 foot by 8 foot panel when I remembered I already had a little Styrofoam cooler in my truck that was capable of holding about 1/2 gallon of yogurt so I decided to give that a shot.
I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what to line the cooler with and finding nothing suitable I ended up using 5 tall drinking glasses. I made a batch just to test out the process using the little cooler and for added insulation I wrapped it in a blanket, and it worked.
Ok, so now I know all I have to do is scale up my equipment so I started thinking about making that box again when I remembered I had a second identical cooler somewhere. I found it out in the garage loft and LO there was also a huge Styrofoam cooler from Omaha Steak House and guess what! The 2 little coolers would fit very nicely into the big cooler providing incredibly low heat loss without using a blanket.

Well, all that developement work happened several months ago and since then I've made at least 4 big gallon batches of yogurt for basically the price of a gallon of milk and about 50 cents worth of strawberry flavoring and sugar. And it's awesome. I would put it up against Yoplait any day of the week.

RE: Who's hotter? Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Lopez or Jennifer Garner?

What's the difference? You ain't getting within 10 miles of any of them.

RE: This is Bugging Me.

You know what bugs me? People who say "GROSHERY". When I hear this butchered word my blood pressure goes up. The other day I heard a new one on the radio uttered by some guy from Tennessee that found me yelling at the radio. The word?
"UNDERSHTANDING" wow doh frustrated

Great Old Forgotten Music

I believe the Mills Brothers came out with "Till Then" first and it's a really great recording but I tend to lean more toward the Hilltoppers version. I just love the voice of Jimmy Sacca the lead singer.

Here's another great ballad featuring the awesome voice of Jimmy Sacca. Notice how he ends the word and the end of a line, very unique.

Husband Of Woman Beaten To Death In Pakistan Killed First Wife

Oh did you mean did she know BEFORE she married him? That I don't know. That's a good question though.

Husband Of Woman Beaten To Death In Pakistan Killed First Wife

Yes, she was going to testify on his behalf in the murder trial. Pretty sick huh?

Husband Of Woman Beaten To Death In Pakistan Killed First Wife

This "Eye for an eye" doctrin doesn't make any sense. If a man is caught stealing the last thing you should do is cut off his hands because then all you have done is create a man who can do no work to pay back the cost of what he stole and you add one more mouth to feed who can't contribute to society.
It's what always happens when a government is controlled or influenced by the church.

Husband Of Woman Beaten To Death In Pakistan Killed First Wife

So this guy Mohammad Iqbal was married to Ayesha Bibi but wanted to marry 25-year-old Farzana Parveen. In order to marry Farzana, he had to get his wife out of the picture so naturally he killed her. He then proceeded to marry Farzana and made her pregnant. Farzana's parents wanted her to marry her cousin instead so as she was on her way to testify on behalf of Iqbal in the murder case of his first wife, she was beaten to death by her family with a brick. Subsequently the murder case was later withdrawn after a family member forgave Iqbal, probably because he gave them "blood money" (usually about equal to $1,000)
So, Here he is, all alone because he killed his first wife and his second wife was killed by her family (because she shamed them by not marrying her cousin). I guess this jerk never heard the expression "A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush."
Oh well, maybe he's got a sister.

Great Old Forgotten Music

This has been playing in my head all day.

RE: American Greed

Another favorite of mine is "The Profit" with Marcus Lemonis. He's a real life Billionaire who helps failing companies to be very successful for a percentage of the business.

RE: American Greed

It's one of my favorite shows.

Great Old Forgotten Music

I was making a freight delivery in my truck about 20 years ago when I heard this song come on the radio I had sitting on the top of the dashboard. Luckily I was backed into the loading dock and not driving so I could write down as much of the lyrics as fast as I could so I could hopefully find this song somewhere. I never was a big Como fan in fact once when I was a teenager an older woman asked me who I liked better, Eddie Fisher or Perry Como? I said I don't like either. laugh I was into Rock & Roll.

RE: sunday thread

In the spring they drop their petals and later on they drop their seed pods. All in all they are very messy trees and I have 2 huge ones right next to my house plus there's even a worse tree for dropping pointy seed balls all over the place called a Sweet gum tree. If all that isn't enough there are several huge Loblolly pines nearby to add their damn pine needles to the mess. That's why I have to clean out the gutters about 4 times a year.

RE: sunday thread

A flatlander in the Rockies?laugh Where did he fly from, the Mile High City?
What's the temp in Miami?

RE: sunday thread

I'm plant to go back up on the roof and finish installing gutter guards to keep the Tulip tree petals out of the gutters so they don't get clogged up.

RE: Facing a Fear

This is a poem I learned as a young boy of about 10 years old. Whenever I was facing a scary situation I would literally recite this poem to myself and plunge forward. I'm sorry there is no female equivalent to it that I know of, but I guess you could replace the word "Man" with "Woman" and it may work.

Do you fear the force of the wind,
The slash of the rain?
Go face them and fight them,
Be savage again.
Go hungry and cold like the wolf,
Go wade like the crane:
The palms of your hands will thicken,
The skin of your cheek will tan,
You'll grow ragged and weary and swarthy,
But you'll walk like a man!

The first time I flew was in an old DC3 2 engine prop plane over water from FL to Grand Bahama Is. I was a little nervous so I sat as close to the left engine as possible so I could keep an eye on it just in case. Being a technically oriented person I was fascinated by how the engine rotated slightly on its mounts in reaction to the torque of the prop.
Another time I had to take a short hop from a big airport to a small regional airport in Texas. The plane was tiny maybe 20 seats. There was no door to the cabin and I could see the pilots hands and feet. We ran into a violent thunder storm and we were tossed around like a pie plate. I watched the pilot working the pedals and steering wheel like a race driver and I said to myself this guy really is one with the plane and I was totally relaxed in the knowledge that he was in total control and could handle whatever that storm threw at him. If I couldn't see him I think I may have been petrified.

If your friend is a crop duster he's probably a better pilot than those who fly big jet airliners and I would have zero fear of flying with him. Those guys can probably land a plane on the roof of a moving car if they had to.

RE: Women 31 Years Old - Never Married

Distant memories

That is so gay! Which one you you fellows manipulated his balls into the tin of ink, the world wants to know?confused uh oh

Great Old Forgotten Music

Vera Lynn had the perfect voice for the songs she sang.
When I was a teenager, one of the girls in the crowd, Ann Bretten lost her mother to some illness and the last thing she said before she died was Auf Wiederseh'n (til I see you again). Ann couldn't hear those words without breaking out in tears. I grew up in a German neighborhood in NY so people said Auf Wiederseh'n all the time.

Great Old Forgotten Music

This is one of those rare recording that come along once in a while out of left field that zoom right to the top of the charts in every corner of the globe, and everybody and his brother can't wait to make a cover of it but NONE of them have the raw appeal of the original. No matter how they clean it up, add orchestration or big names to it, they all fall by the wayside.

Great Old Forgotten Music

Thank you for that, I found myself singing along blushing
I'm sure it's not him but it reminds me of Lonnie Donegan. Speaking of Lonnie Donegan, here's the ORIGINAL and best release of Rock Island Line.

Great Old Forgotten Music

One of the lesser known Billie Holiday recordings but possibly her best. Notice how unhurried the introduction is by Teddy Wilson on piano, how he sets the mood for the song. This is truly an inspired blending of talent.

Great Old Forgotten Music

I bet you can't listen to this with dry eyes wabbit.
