with the greatest respect, whilst people hang around debating the blame and shame issues those refugees are still with no medicine or proper drinking water - we are asking what can be done to alleviate their suffering, not what caused it - shame is on us for not shouting louder that it just isnt acceptable
Thanks David, I agree with you very much, unity is what is needed not more fighting - peaceful resolutions ARE possible, it doesnt always have to end in sending armies in - just because its the way governments have been going about stuff for so long doesnt make it the only way - whatever they tell us - just look at the WMD fiasco.
I dont think the opening question was actually asking American people to solve this - he wasnt speaking from America and asked if WE could do something - collectively, not our governments as such with their armies - nobody wants any more fighting and killing, for any reason, anywhere - if armies went in there they wouldnt find anybody to kill, they are all starving or dying of various horrible diseases - only the dictators are doing ok
it would be so good to organise international protests but where would we even start - i have no idea. How long are we all just going to stand by whilst this happens when there is so much waste in other countries Thanks for this post
does the life partner know about this way of justification - otherwise betrayal is never ok - better to deal with stuff rather than bringing yet more people in to a screwed up situation - face it n deal with it and then move on
i dont know about right or wrong in matters such as this, hurting just isnt nice and the sooner we can build effective barriers the sooner we can get on with our lives - sometimes we just have to accept stuff as painful experiences and move on - sort of like getting used to the pain but not letting it have control of us and our future. i dont think it is very healthy to dwell on past events, especially hurtful ones, after all, hey, theres a wonderful future for you to have yet - please dont let the past put big dark clouds over that
I see what you are saying Gilly and loved your comparison with bringing building site safety issues under the blanket of the law - but i think bringing legalities to this issue may be an infringment of human rights. On the other hand, local governments could be a heck of a lot more proactive. My nearest town has empty buildings which could be utilised to provide not only homes for people but jobs too, which would empower some folks to achieve independence
I dont know what can be done about the problems faced by these victims of society but if it was up to me I would look for models which do work in helping get people back on their feet such as supportive housing and long term drug/alcohol rehabilitation projects.
Finance is the big problem, maybe if somebody sees a way to make money out of this dire situation things will get moving - cynical I know.
This report makes good suggestions, i found it on google; Housing First: a solution to homelessness
in my own humble opinion - the point is that borders are not necessary and that we are all from one orignal seed - sorry you had to change countries but i am happy you made the decision though i know there is probably sadness involved, for this, my apologies
well, i read recently that two atoms can be in the same place at the same time - so why not be on two roller coasters simultaneously - so long as you can keep the honesty going, why not ha ha ha
