RE: should black history more foreign history and more forms of religions be taught in british schools ?

Keep em comin Gilly, you sure give us all some good food for thought - good on ya wave

RE: Perspective

there is school of thought which suggests that we choose which reality we are born into, some choose only a short stay in this particular reality whilst others choose, before birth, to stay many years and experience things gently over a period of time - its not about beliefs or countries or medical care or unemployment or, dare I say about, God, for God is a man made concept only - if it/he were the ultimate then why would he/it be open to such scrutiny - truths are scientificaly provable - am i wrong

RE: Do YOU LOSE OR GAIN AFTER LETTING GO!

Its all just growing Hun - sometimes you dont know the answers for years - sometimes they are so in yr face you could scream wave

RE: Perspective

I have lost dearly loved ones and felt like i couldnt continue, like i didnt even want to continue but i had the choice is what i recognise. So i will ride a bike to work or wherever simply because i can and to celebrate their lives and to Honour the pain that they endured in order for me to overstep such obstacles in my life - leading to who knows where - the body becomes dust ultimately - only the love we have given and others have experienced endures xxx

RE: Stop the Clash

Hi Khan cswelcome

RE: do you remember when a an saturday night used to be a saturday night ?

Hiya, thats what happens on a smaller scale round here - it really disgusts me but, as you say, theres so many of em think its big in front of their mates, like the silly girl you mentioned.

I used to go down to the shabeens in moss side in the 70's and it was such good fun, we were discovering a new culture and they ours - i have no idea where this xenophobia comes from. dunno

RE: what makes a relationship work?

Thank You blushing its true though isnt it - i see it all the time, fools rush in as they say ha ha wave

RE: should black history more foreign history and more forms of religions be taught in british schools ?

Thank You handshake

RE: do you remember when a an saturday night used to be a saturday night ?

Good points you make there Zellarone, I was going to say something bout the violence too. I remember being in a pub one saturday night in the mis 70's and a fight broke out, we were all very shocked by it but nowadays its just so commonplace and as you say, they have knives - very scarry.

I have a couple of immigrant friends and the amount of challenging behaviour they have to face if they go anywhere, even to the local shop on a saturday night is shameful and we live in a village so god knows what its like in the towns nowadays - i bet i would have such a culture shock if i went back to live in stockport dunno

RE: should black history more foreign history and more forms of religions be taught in british schools ?

It seems to me that history lessons as we know them are generally taught from the point of view of the victors and a more 3D approach may just engage the pupils more as well as teach them more, to look at an issue from all sides namely.

But it has to begin before that in teaching pupils to deal constructively with contentious issue. These usually come down to religion or politics - heck, if the politicians, religicians and educators cant get it right, then what hope is there for our children whilst these people decide what is taught.

I think they only allow stuff onto the national curriculum that they want us to know anyway - from the point of view of the winners

Indeed Gilly, I so agree, time for change is so long overdue.

RE: do you remember when a an saturday night used to be a saturday night ?

Hi Gilly, much as I would love to take the credit for having an amazing memory I cant. If you type a song title into google and put the word 'lyrics' after, it will give you a lot of choices and you can cut and paste anything ( well not pictures thats a bit different but is easy too) Cut n paste is one of the best things anybody showed me when learning bout comps - I only started using one 3 or 4 yrs back wave

That song, from the Eagles I also think very beautiful - they did it live when I went to see them and it was perfect - they sound live just like they do on their albums guitar

RE: IM BACK

Welcome back Hun, big hugs hug hug hug

dysfunctional relationships

Thanks for resurrecting this one - i had completely forgotten I started it laugh

dysfunctional relationships

Hiya Hun, I hope you enjoyed your weekend hug

Yep, its the feelings and hunches for me too but im observing in a young couple who I know, that she has to get his approval for what she even wears or who she can have as friends - its all newish for them at the moment and they are only in their mid 20's. I dont want to interfere, its their business and Im not responsible - or am I - theres also a language and culture difference - I just keep my mouth shut and nose out - but am scared that it may get worse. Time will tell I guess sigh

RE: do you remember when a an saturday night used to be a saturday night ?

i couldnt resist this;

THE Eagles. Whatever Happened To Saturday Night.

Seems like a dream now, it was so long ago
The moon burned so bright and the time went so slow
And I swore that I loved her and gave her a ring
The bluebird was high on the wing

Whatever happened to Saturday night
Finding a sweetheart and holding her tight?
She said,"Tell me, oh, tell me, was I alright?"
Whatever happened to Saturday night?

The years brought the railroad
It ran by my door
Now there's boards on the windows
And dust on the floor
And she passes the time at another man's side
And I pass the time with my pride

What a tangled web we weave
Go 'round with circumstance
Someone show me how to tell the dancer
From the dance

What ever happened
To Saturday night?
Choosin' a friend and loosin' a fight
She said,"Tell me, oh, tell me, are you alright?"
Whatever happened to Saturday night?
Whatever happened to Saturday night?

RE: Why secretaries get fired......

hahahahahahaha rolling on the floor laughing laugh

RE: is anybody the ' black sheep ' in their family and wants to talk about ?

haha this is me Gilly, black sheep through and through laugh
my family first of all couldnt handle it when i started to refuse to go to church then when i took up with the hippies they were well put out.

nowadays, i have raised three ace children, worked at the citizens advice bureau for a few yrs and got the cert of training from there and am about to start the final year of uni in september - i didnt suffer hellfire n damnation from not going to church and found the ideas i gathered form my hippie friends still keep me going today, stuff like the the I Ching and the Tao Te Ching and positive thinking, make much more sense to me than the stuff my family wanted me to follow - you only have one life, make the most of it i say and the best way i know to do that is to be true to yourself, the rest falls into place wave
