Beautiful items they are. I have the shield and short jabbing spear given to me from a Matabele Chief . We met during operations near Mt. Darwin in which he and members of the Selous Scouts took part. His tribe made up the bulk of the Scouts in their fight against Mugabe. Going through immigration I listed the shield and spears etc. simply as 'souvenirs'. No problems in bringing all the items home . Wonderful people the Matabele, I just hope they found good homes in SA when all the Scouts left Rhodesia as they all had death warrants on their heads including all the European officers. At Beit Bridge when they crossed, many of the SA special forces there cheered for them and gave them a hearty welcome...yet it was such a sad day to see the end of Rhodesia and all of it's unrealized potential. That infamy rests squarely on the Brits and that venomous Kissinger creature of the US. Perhaps one day we'll know what they had threatened South Africa with if they had tried to save Rhodesia by force as many wanted...

Love is extremely selfish at any age, young or old as age is relative. What isn't relative is one's life span in regards to economics. You have money, you live longer and pay; no money or just a little, you won't live as long to keep you in good health. The age old laws of supply and demand; rich people have longer life spans, the poor do not just as with people with money can rent 'love' for a while but the not rich can't afford that and so go without so much as a smile from the girls on the streets; no money, no love...we are all unhappy, that's the thing about life.
Get copies of newspapers from Beirut in English from a dealer in international newspapers and look up current population for both Beirut and the entire country then think about what are chances of ....(fill in the blank) You'd be just as safe there as any city in England; more so than in many across the US or even some parts of NYC... Beirut used to be known as the Paris of the Middle East until the 80's and today it's quiet, no more raging gun battles between rival sects or religions. No more "no go areas" as some cities have in England due to the volatile migrants festering with hatreds for/ against Brits especially if you are white. Go to Beirut and enjoy yourself; it's again quite beautiful and people generally enjoy all tourists who come...well, unless you are French...they do have a long memory of when France tried to rule there .
Oooops... well, ya could've sent me an email ya know! ( I really don't like turning comments off but then again, when I wrote for newsprint, it was all articles and I never bothered with mail from those that sent their blithering ravings to the 'letters to the editor'...99% of which were never published or they went to the trash...so in that aspect, I'm used to having no comments...
The old dilemma of age vs. quantity/ quality of others that you want no part of and those types you'd love to be around with...it's both frustrating and depressing at times. What I've found in all my travels and now is that the best groups or types to have around are artists in general. They tend to be quite well educated about a myriad of topics and subjects, from their schools or the schools of life and are usually very tolerant of most other people save art critics... Generally their characters, male or female are easy-going; relaxed about themselves and others save some raving political or religious lunatic; non confrontational and positive people even those that are struggling to make ends meet and still indulge in their own particular art and have a drink or several at a local bistro or cafe where they , as I've always put it, linger while they give the world their finger...That is still their altitude world wide for the most part. I say thank god for a bit of sanity! Go out and find some of the ol' classic 'bohemian' types of artists, be they painters, writers, dancers; whatever...an artist is a terrible thing to waste...
That might force some here to actually think...is that what you really want rather than have 4 or 5 threads simultaneously posted by one or more idiots ??? Overall most do seem to think but others...that could prove dangerous... This limit sounds as if it should also be applied to the blogs where some have lately put up 5 or 6...perhaps there could also be a 25 word minimum also when one remembers the "classic" definition of a blog when they first came online back in the 80's; sort of 'mini-articles' that were popular rather than some seemingly disturbed poster simply putting up a question or announcing that they don't feel like posting anything which begs the un PC question of why they even bothered in the first place to come on...go to a bar, find a dark corner and give people the finger...
Basically the world ended in August 1914 when the real shooting began...and the shooting has never really stopped; it continues on for some and stops, temporarily for others...while those powers that started it all keep growing larger while the profits grow also to keep it all going and ever spreading.
Love it. Just wait till you read the recipes for using Bourbon and other liquors and wines. Lots of cookbooks on this! Someone must be desperate to dine with you that they keep sending you the same recipe...(hint, hint...)
To quote George Wallace, then Gov. of Alabama, speaking to a black audience: " Sure, I look like a white man, but my heart is AS black as anyone's here..." answer to above question: a former white supremacist now wishing he were non white...the depths to which many fall...

With due preference, you forgot to mention the flea infested, duct-taped recliner and the contortions of adjusting his torn, ripped and holed underwear with one hand and typing away madly with the other....the torn, ripped and holes in the underwear is considered "de riguer" in describing this form of life. Follow the rules...
And as one american preacher said some years ago : "an' if Jesus had carried a gun, they'd never hung him on da cross!" right.....or another talking about all the good the NRA does: "If God carried a gun, it' be a colt 45 an' God would be an amurican!" right....
It gets much worse: get a copy of Jean Paul Satre's book "On Genocide" It also includes a summary of the evidence and the judgements of the International War Crimes Tribunal (mostly against the US) by Arllette El Kaim Sartre. Fascinating and gruesome.
Many are simply verbigerators....ones that senselessly repeat cliche's: People consider him a sage, and his advice was eagerly sought . No one ever realized that old Reginald was nothing more than a senile old verbigerators with a talent for endlessly repeating the most mundane platitudes as wit.
Day od the dead parade in México (November 1st and 2nd
Quote " It's not a gloomy or morbid occasion, rather it is a festive and colorful holiday celebrating the lives of those who have passed on."
Very similar to the 'Second Line" funerals held in the old French quarter of New Orleans for their great musicians, as today was the celebration funeral of Fats Domino. A great celebration for a great musician and singer.
I find it a bit funny that the few Day Of the Dead celebrations I attended in Mexico, never once did I hear any shouts of "Viva la Muerta!" which is still the old battle cry of the Spanish Foreign Legion...
Trumpetforskin could always appropriate it all for a new golf course, expel all the people except for a few groundkeepers and cleaning staff, then use the taxpayers to pay for all the clean-up and conversion to a golf course...that way he avoids using taxpayer moneys to repair Puerto Rico as an entity much in the same fashion as ol' lady bird johnson went on a 'beautification' binge for all her projects using tax payer moneys...
the morons don't even know its already part of their territory...bet if they looked at a map, they'd look in either Asia or Africa....most can't even find Washington DC." Amurikan edukashun" ; male it great...please!..
God, I hope it was better than the scratch an' sniff page spots in Hustler Magazine by Larry Flynt!!!! Many had tried to dissuade him from trying it...but he was the boss. It did not go over well...more ridicule than anyone dreamed of. (I did some cartoons for them )
Gin & Tonic...so British...so dull; most older women over 50 reek of cheap gin. I think that they use it in place of the usual perfumes/parfumes. I'm amazed that they don't have sample spray bottles at cosmetic counters along with spray on rums or some cheap whiskeys from Seagrams. Though, a bottle of Seagrams with iced tea or even Pepsi in summer is a bit more enjoyable than mint-juleps...though in my heart I still prefer 1 Tequila!- 2 Tequila! - 3 Tequila! Floor!
I have found it rather strange that since I've joined, Pom-Pom/ Minty Feet/Green Boots, etc. etc. has been the only one of four others, all from Argentina are gone within days of postings; perhaps CS doesn't like people from there being on the forums as there seems to be a lot of members from there...
