Understand what your saying, but what do you practice? Seems to me life would be a LOT simpler if everyone would/could be honest with each other. Reality? We both know everyone isn't like that, but I sort of figured someone has to start somewhere so why not me? Worked out really well for a lot of years.
If you fell in love with the perfect person would you stop doing something that they really hated like smoking?
I think we enter relationships with people and expect them to conform "or pay the price". I wouldn't expect someone to change something to fit my likes or dislikes and although I probably would do it for them I don't think it is healthy to give up something you enjoy simply because someone else doesn't like it. Too much sacrifice breeds resentment.[/quote
Yeah, I think I would. If something I did really grated on my partner, I would WANT to stop that because I love her. Would make ME feel good that I could make her happy with something like that.
Sorry for your loss, John. Went through exactly the same thing with my wife. Unfortunately, you can still get lung cancer even if you don't/have never smoked. Genetic link. Smoking increases your chances of getting it; should be enough of a reason right there to quit/not start but to each his own. Some people like to roll the dice.
Why should that be so tough? Being honest with yourself and others makes everything so much easier. And honesty is the basis for everything else - trust, love, ect..
Hey Dennis! Not true about construction. Home builders are the ones that got hurt by the economy. Remodeling/commercial/ repairs still going really strong. Right now I've got about 15 jobs going and my plumber/electrician/heating guy are all buried. Check into the small remodel companies. Good luck!
Nice thread; lots of thought into the responses too! Have to go with the electricity when you meet. You just KNOW. Don't know how or why, everything justs clicks; you're comfortable together as if you've been together for years.
New pill they came up with. Blocks the nicotine from going to the brain. Even if you do smoke, you don't get the rush. Maybe just a crutch, don't really know. Just know I don't need the things anymore!
