That's a really nice story, revealer. It is the rare man that will even think of crossing the globe the way you are planning. A question, though...Why do you need to be earning 80k+ before you fly over to meet her?
No point doing that, smoky. The Mods seem to think that CS is bullet proof from hackers. No idea why, given that NASA is hacked into...
I had my CS account hacked into today. I know that because there was one profile in my WVM list who is a pal of mine and would not have deleted him as I do ost others. Yet it is gone though I checked and his profile is still active.
Mind you, I have thoughts on this but will remain mum.
There must be so many sites around though I wish I could suggest one. I am only on this one, but I do have a cyber buddy who used to be on CS, gave up on it and after some pretty bad experiences on other sites, finally found herself a wonderful man whom she married. No idea what site that was on... I have shared in their wedding photos, just beautiful. They plan to come and visit me next summer, a real treat that will be.... They seem so perfect for each other, both artists and I adore their work. What a gorgeous match they are. Her dogged persistence paid off - wish I had half her determination.
I haen't eaten bread for ages. Would love to though!! ..I do love rye, and really yummy grain bread, oh and wood oven bread ...except that it doesn't like me. So, like anything or any one that doesn't like me, I stay away.
Figs are a very recent introduction, only because I have several trees and it's so nice to pick them right off the tree, but they are tiny ones. Tomorrow I'm going on a 4km walk to burn it off. Instructions I've been given: (it's ok for me to hijack my own thread!lol)...
at the bottom of the hill, turn right. after 200m, turn left at a little street til you come to another intersection. Then turn right then left. Go straight for 200m til you get to a house being restored, then turn right and go about 300m. Ta da!!...I'm supposed to be 'there'.
As for wine(whining uses calories, too!)...red wine is full of anti-aging resveratrol, so 100ml is welcome ...Only sweet wine such as German spatlese has lots of calories. In fact, a glass of wine is included in Italian weight reducing diets.(oh, and so is pasta and pizza depending on your blood type!)
Dear Tule, she does indeed have a wonderful imagination and the cutest way of expressing herself.
Yes, table wine with a meal, red for me is just nice. And oh, a man who loves to dance...
Let me tango back to figs...
There was a cooking program today on television at the neighbour's home. Guess what was one key ingredient? Yeppers, figs!...
A simple focaccia bread roll cut lengthwise in half. On one side place thin slices of prosciutto, on the other, fresh, halved figs, the ruby red flesh up, drizzle olive oil over figs, add fresh, chopped basil, fresh rucolo(my neighbour's addition; a type of horseradish flavour, grows wild in gardens including mine). Fold over and cut into portions. A tasty snack, one I must try soon.
Better stop using google, robplum, it's sending you on a wild goose chase!!
Puglia is not a coastal town in southern Greece. It is a large region (read 'State'; the 'heel' on the map) of south eastern Italy. It has had a big influence from Greece due to its close geographical vicinity, other than that...PUGLIA IS IN ITALY.
Don't worry, I'm going through similar here in Italy.
Ah, plums...my neighbour has a plum tree and came over with a small bag of them. Today he asked did I want more. I thought of plum jam, but cor, blimey, methinks I might need to buy proper jam making equipment, especially a large pot to boil the filled jars.
You're probably going through all kinds of sscenarios in your head, each with dreadful endings most likely. If so, stop it and email/call her instead. To my knowledge, no-one has ever died from either activity.
Hi smoky, I don't know about Iraqi's, but as for Greeks, I only know they use vine leaves, which are quite fine compared to fig leaves. Maybe they do use latter, I just haven't heard of it. I have vine leaves, just no grapes
Ah, thankyou freebird. No measuring quantities - myu kind of recipe. Love the idea of chestnut pieces, though I have everything else...hazelnuts, walnuts (my gardener's)and almonds. Maybe I could chop some walnuts.
Figs in a salad...great idea!...And frozen for later stews...will remember that for when I am next here for much longer.
And yes, into the compost the leaves would go...as soon as I get one going.
If you mean Lampedusa, I'm nowhere near there, despite same region. Though not even sure there are riots right now, though there were previously. Neighbours haven't mentioned anything.. I'd say things should be changing now that Gaddafi's regime has toppled.
Getting way off topic now, sorry Pebbs. Hope all is under control your way. Lots of firewood as others have said.
Hi lifeisadream, thank you for the link. I just opened it and jotted down the ingredients. A lot of sugar to substitute though, even if with honey. I buy a particular French brand of fig jam back in oz and it's made with no sugar and tastes sweet, so I don't understand why sugar needs to be added.
Interesting to read that no pectin is required, just what would be provided by the lemon juice I suppose.
They have frozen berries here too, as in Aussie Land. I haven't tried the ones here, but back in oz, I use them to mix in with plain yogurt for a snack, or even with rolled oats.
Yes, might need to google. Would be nice to know of someone's trusted recipe. Honey sounds nice, but I really want to avoid added sugar as the fruit is already sweet.
I've not heard or seen of other uses either, but you never knwo some cultures...they are a lovely shape though. Not quite the same with a cabbage leaf, or even banana leaf, both of which are used for cooking as you know.
Well, it was so unlike anything I'd ever experienced, being in a strange place all on my own, that it felt as if I was in a movie. Which is probably why I wasn't the least bit scared. Just had to deal with it.
The fig trees are full of fruit, plenty already on the ground, some yet to ripen...I love fig jam and the idea of making my own fresh batch is too much to resist. My neighbour says she's never made her own, so I'm wondering if anyone has a tried and tested recipe, something simple and one without sugar as I figure there is plenty in the fruit.
Oh, and any ideas for what to do with the fig leaves? Seems such a waste. ...Also, other fig recipes all very welcome. Ta!
No, I figured that part Faithe...spare the thought of anyone working in such conditions. Glad he's safe.
Where I am here in Puglia, lots of strong winds too. Wind farms dot the countryside on entry into the region... My first night last March, I was alone, gale force winds howled all night, power blackout, thunder, lightning. Rained so hard, the roof leaked near the chimney and water flooded in...oh the fun!
You got me concerned so I just rang my parents in Adelaide. No mention of any winds, just of rain. We do get lots of gale force episodes there the last few years. I have a huge river red gum in front of my place(in suburb not acreage). Whoever planted it should be given a real talking to up in heaven.
You're no dimwit, Martia. It's about doing lots of shopping around and for the likes of you and me, it can really wearing, especially on the nerves which means we might quit looking just at the wrong moment. Half the time, it's pure chance that we are led to the right product.
