RE: Say Something To Someone W/O Mentioning Names

Brilliant... and hopefully this thread can resume it's regularly scheduled broadcast.

A fine sentiment all too often forgotten until we are too old to see its fruit.

RE: Say Something To Someone W/O Mentioning Names

No names were mentioned and a question was posed in regards to this response. I answered from the generalization not knowing or really caring who was involved beyond somechick. She asked a question and I responded. Had you done so in your defense of this position I would likely have posted something to that effect as well. I have not jumped to any conclusions about any particular situation as I did not know any part of any story.
I am sorry if my words offended you for that was not their intent. They were posted to reply to a specific question only, not to call into question any other person's values or ideals.

RE: Say Something To Someone W/O Mentioning Names

Controlling or attempting to control someone else is merely the outward expression of insecurity at best or a very serious sign of dominance. Neither reflect well upon those to whom these are acceptable manners of treating others, less even when they are called friends.
Friends are the one's who Love you regardless of what you have done or said. They Love you for who you are not for who they want or need you to be. The one gift we definitely have is choice in life. No one has the right to remove your ability to choose. They can offer their own point of view but that is as far as they have any right to involve themselves in your life. There is no greater theft than the theft of choice. To each there own, is a golden rule that as long as it does not infringe upon others to remove their own ability to choose.
Pity, selfishness, demands, flattery, coercion, and other equally degrading means are all methods of control, and should not be allowed in one's life as they do neither person any justice.

RE: The youngest you've ever gone for

I have never been with a woman younger than I am by more than 5 years. I do not know whether or not that was a conscious decision or not but now that I am older I have not changed my perspective on this much. There has to be more in common than appearances, like some reference point of commonality. Same generation has some bearing on this as culturally we seem to change with each progressive generation and it is nice to be able to share that with someone who understands.

RE: So what would you say if someone you met had a scar?

Scars are roadmaps of where your life has been. Almost like a brochure with quaint little notes on the pitstops along the highway. Some are pleasant reminders and others are negligible. but none are truly worth worrying about. Aging in its own way is a type of scar and superficiality only carries so far.
I attribute the concern for scars as similar to someone saying they would have no interest in someone because they owned a pick-up truck rather than a BMW (or vice versa of course).

RE: Do You Need to Hear an apology?

No but I do feel responsible for giving one when I have grievously erred.

Comics... Lost Art?

I have recently returned to a childhood past-time of reading comics, and I am very pleased to see that they have grown to a point of maturity with the times. Of course much of this growth is due to an influx of writers and artists from your own side of the pond. There are comics for everyone now and I was wondering what kind of influence they have in Europe?
I am listing a small portion of the ones that have drawn me back and would appreciate any information oh how these were received overseas and if there are others we on the 'other side' have yet to hear of.

100 Bullets
Animal Man
Astro City
Books of Magic/Faerie
Daredevil Volume 2
Death The High Cost of Living
Death The Time of Your Life
Fables
Global Frequency
Goddess
Hellblazer
Hitman
Jack of Fables
Lucifer
Northlanders
Preacher
Powers
Promethea
Queen and Country
Sandman
Sandman Mystery Theatre
Stardust
Stray Bullets
Swamp Thing
The Adventures of Barry Ween
The Invisibles
The Metabarons
Transmetropolitan
Young Liars

Bear in Mind this is a very small slice of what is out there, but it is more adult stuff as compared to simple super-hero crap (which has its place but not in literature).

With the advent of the torrent system of information sharing most of these are available to download as well.
Just curious on your take here.

Are you insinuating that I am being saucy...? tongue

Salted nuts... to help keep your moisture in from the tears of laughter you are leaking at my expense...rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Profile contest

Sweet, sweet lady I have no idea of what you mean? Words are an elegance meant for clarity of expression. I am a hopeless romantic and merely seek to colour things to the degree in which they permeate my poetic soul. It would seem unfair to write poetry in shorthand or describe flowers in black and white.

Besides I get a right good old laugh when it ruffles your feathers... rolling on the floor laughing

RE: The person above you turned into a snack. What kind of snack are they.

Tikvenik... sweet...innocent

RE: Profile contest

handshake cheers

RE: Profile contest

Damn that many words and more fell scattered about my desk while writing that... If I was dextrous enough to hold them all on my finger-tips it would have been epic like War and Peace... I thought I was giving the condensed version. Sort of the Cliff Note's thingy...

Hope my addendum was more appropriate...grin

RE: Profile contest

Life is a beautiful song, I have the rhythm do you have the words?

RE: The person above you turned into a snack. What kind of snack are they.

Pitted cherries... sweet, tangy, soft on the inside and no pits...

RE: Profile contest

Who I Am:

Brief physical description here...
Interests and hobbies...
Family vocations (very important do not omit!)

Other than the obvious I am first and foremost a loving man, full of passion and compassion. I Love my children unconditionally, and would Love to find a woman with whom this Love could likewise be shared. I have a wonderful sense of humour and Love to laugh often and deeply. I am not afraid to hold a woman when she needs to be held and I am looking for one who can do the same for a man in need at times. Mature, and responsible, loyal and honest I can give and hope to receive. I have simple needs in life but most are filled just looking for that one last piece... someone to share all of me with. Seeking my muse to let my heart gain its full expression once again. If you are interested in the journey that ends with an old couple sitting on the swing on the front porch, smiling at all the things that life has offered, no regrets just smiles and memories to last a lifetime... drop me a note. I'd Love to hear from you!

What I Am Looking For:

Very broad description... no physical descriptors except perhaps a range of acceptable ages.

I am looking for a woman who has found herself. One who knows some form of hurt and has healed herself. A woman whose eyes are guided by her heart. Happy with herself and where life can take her. Willing to accept my children as they are. Children of her own are not an issue as I would Love them as my own just for being children. Love knows no bounds and if this is true for you then perhaps we have more in common than the mere fact that you have looked. Sometimes the heavens shine rays of light down upon us to lead us to what we seek. If you have an open heart and are willing to try... just a few lines will grant you a response.
Serious inquiries only please, I have long outgrown the randomness of high school romance and seek the depth of a woman's beauty not the skin-deep sensations of our youth.

Pretty hard to go on with what you are wiling to share mister Mastic man... but hey I tried and it is only a draft that you should temper with your own voice and insight.

dunno handshake
