RE: War against Christian

You dam Atheists! You are obsessed with nothing! You are always trying to shove nothing down someone’s throat! rolling on the floor laughing

RE: War against Christian

That’s true. We can just go back and forth with all of these other quotes. It’s clearly been established that these 6 founding fathers were deists.

You have been questioned on a FORGERY and you can’t seem to substantiate where or when Patrick Henry EVER made that quote. You have the internet there in front of you, now find it.

RE: War against Christian

Oops sorry I thought you were a Christian making jokes. My mistake sorry! rolling on the floor laughing

RE: War against Christian

Oh no, it might be another Patrick Henry. I actually posted a Franklin quote where he states he is a Deist. Remember that Benjamin Franklin was also a scientist.

RE: War against Christian

The father of this country was very private about his beliefs, but it is widely considered that he was a Deist like his colleagues. He was a Freemason.

Historian Barry Schwartz writes: "George Washington's practice of Christianity was limited and superficial because he was not himself a Christian... He repeatedly declined the church's sacraments. Never did he take communion, and when his wife, Martha, did, he waited for her outside the sanctuary... Even on his deathbed, Washington asked for no ritual, uttered no prayer to Christ, and expressed no wish to be attended by His representative." [New York Press, 1987, pp. 174-175]

Paul F. Boller states in is anthology on Washington: "There is no mention of Jesus Christ anywhere in his extensive correspondence." [Dallas: Southern Methodist University Press, 1963, pp. 14-15]

RE: War against Christian

"Gouverneur Morris had often told me that General Washington believed no more of that system (Christianity) than did he himself."
-Thomas Jefferson, in his private journal, Feb. 1800

RE: War against Christian

"Religious controversies are always productive of more acrimony and irreconcilable hatreds than those which spring from any other cause. Of all the animosities which have existed among mankind, those which are caused by the difference of sentiments in religion appear to be the most inveterate and distressing, and ought most to be depreciated. I was in hopes that the enlightened and liberal policy, which has marked the present age, would at least have reconciled Christians of every denomination so far that we should never again see the religious disputes carried to such a pitch as to endanger the peace of society."

- letter to Edward Newenham, 1792

RE: War against Christian

"Experience witnesseth that ecclesiastical establishments, instead of maintaining the purity and efficacy of religion, have had a contrary operation. During almost fifteen centuries has the legal establishment of Christianity been on trial. What has been its fruits? More or less, in all places, pride and indolence in the clergy; ignorance and servility in the laity; in both, superstition, bigotry and persecution."
James Madison
- "A Memorial and Remonstrance", 1785

RE: War against Christian

"The priesthood have, in all ancient nations, nearly monopolized learning. And ever since the Reformation, when or where has existed a Protestant or dissenting sect who would tolerate A FREE INQUIRY? The blackest billingsgate, the most ungentlemanly insolence, the most yahooish brutality, is patiently endured, countenanced, propagated, and applauded. But touch a solemn truth in collision with a dogma of a sect, though capable of the clearest proof, and you will find you have disturbed a nest, and the hornets will swarm about your eyes and hand, and fly into your face and eyes."
John Adams- letter to John Taylor

RE: War against Christian

Patrick Henry? devil

RE: War against Christian

Sir, please quote me on this thread where I EVER stated that I have never once told a lie in my entire life. I said that YOU HAD ACCUSED ME OF LYING.

I never said the Christians were losing. All I have mentioned to you is don’t start quoting things out of context and clearly cite all of your information otherwise we will have another Patrick Henry incident. In fact I think from now on, every time someone espouses crap on this forum, we will have to refer to it as "he must have pulled a Patrick Henry."

You should feel honored after all.

RE: War against Christian

Its 26 pages. It’s obviously not breaking any rules or it would have been pulled by now and it has been rather entertaining. I ask again, why do you think I feel I am of superior intellect to you or anyone else on forum, and why are you so fearful of me? I didn’t even know who you were frankly. I just knew you took cheap shots from time to time but failed to state names, probably in order to out maneuver a ban. Clever. I also told you I accepted your apology but that’s all you are getting. I don’t know what else you want of me?

RE: War against Christian

Well you accused me of "Lying" yet you have yet to substantiate that your Patrick Henry quote is not a forgery. Have you found a source yet? That also leaves wide open ANYTHING else you have posted to dispute. Thats the issue you are running into now. wink

RE: War against Christian

And more unfulfilled or highly inaccurate prophesy.

God promises Abram and his descendants all of the land of Canaan. But both history and the bible (Acts 7:5 and Heb.11:13) show that God's promise to Abram was not fulfilled.

The Bible can be proven;
No. 1 Prophetically,
No 2 Historically,
No 3 Geographically,
No 4 Archeology.

Hrmm. Where to start. Alex, I will take Prophecy for $400!

As a punishment for killing Abel, God says Cain will be "a fugitive and a vagabond." Yet in just a few verses, Cain will settle down, marry, have a son, and build a city. This is not the activity one would expect from a fugitive and a vagabond.

RE: War against Christian

Good because I would never say such nonsense and that is how rumors start. I have a college degree (Bachelor of the Sciences) and I worked in the field of Paleontology out in California. I have stated that when asked but that is it.

RE: War against Christian

Anyway, Im done with the quotes until that Patrick Henry one can be produced. This is an exercise in futility. Think twice before you call people "liars" next time, sir. yawn

RE: War against Christian

"What influence, in fact, have ecclesiastical establishments had on society? In some instances they have been seen to erect a spiritual tyranny on the ruins of the civil authority; on many instances they have been seen upholding the thrones of political tyranny; in no instance have they been the guardians of the liberties of the people. Rulers who wish to subvert the public liberty may have found an established clergy convenient auxiliaries. A just government, instituted to secure and perpetuate it, needs them not."

James Madison

Notice I use citations and full paragraphs?

RE: War against Christian

No. this Patrick Henry one has just been placed on many Christian websites. They also "improvise" and take many out of context. Anyway, any day now on that Patrick Henry quote? You claim I am a liar sir? Your credibility is rapidly depleting. rolling on the floor laughing

RE: War against Christian

I told you I ACCEPT your aplogies. What else do you want from me?? I am NOT mad a you. It was a misunderstanding. MOVE ON!

RE: War against Christian

"Some books against Deism fell into my hands. . . It happened that they wrought an effect on my quite contrary to what was intended by them; for the arguments of the Deists, which were quoted to be refuted, appeared to me much stronger than the refutations; in short, I soon became a thorough Deist."

Benjamin Franklin

RE: War against Christian

A bunch of these Christian websites do that. I just called him on the Patrick Henry quote. rolling on the floor laughing

RE: War against Christian

I never meant to upset you now drop it please as its interfering with the thread I want to address and this crap is going to get it shut down.

RE: War against Christian

You keep insisting that I have claimed some sort of "superior intellect." Why are you so frightened of me? I have NEVER made such a claim on these forums. That would be ludicrous. I challenge you to find where I have ever made such a haughty claim and quote it. That should be easy enough. laugh

RE: War against Christian

When is the Patrick Henry quote going to be addressed? Are you trying to find it? rolling on the floor laughing

RE: War against Christian

Taken out of context:

"The doctrines of Jesus are simple, and tend all to the happiness of man. But compare with these the demoralizing dogmas of Calvin.
1. That there are three Gods.
2. That good works, or the love of our neighbor, is nothing.
3. That faith is every thing, and the more incomprehensible the proposition, the more merit the faith.
4. That reason in religion is of unlawful use.
5. That God, from the beginning, elected certain individuals to be saved, and certain others to be damned; and that no crimes of the former can damn them; no virtues of the latter save."
