Deism is a religious and philosophical belief that a supreme natural God exists and created the physical universe, and that religious truths can be arrived at by the application of reason and observation of the natural world. Deists generally reject the notion of supernatural revelation as a basis of truth or religious dogma. These views contrast with the dependence on divine revelation found in many Christian, Islamic and Judaic teachings.
I know but my point stands. It doesnt matter and these sites are popular. Younger men are interested in older women and vice versa. Whats the harm really?
Well I suppose you could ask the same question of middle aged men? Should they be chasing after 20 year olds? I generally have no problem with either scenario provided it takes places between consenting adults. It is not my place (nor yours) to judge others if no laws are being broken. You would need to also ask why all of these “cougar” websites exist on the net unless they were attracting younger men and were generating a profit.
By you stating "peace" the implication was we were at war and I never felt that to be the case. Disagreement, as long as it remains civil, is in accordance with the stated rules of conduct on this forum.
Yes I was thinking that also. I try to keep an open mind because the reality is we just cant kill a human being and then resuscitate a half hour later to hear their story. I wish we could do that in some safe and controlled environment. Maybe we could freeze the person. These NDE generally are for very short time periods which also doesnt help lend them any credibility. Grrrr. Its frustrating.
True and Moses didn’t exist. Doesn't anyone find it odd that the Egyptians never recorded ANYHTHING about Moses in their elaborate writings? Not even a mention of Moses anywhere. Hrmmm. We aren’t allowed to ask these questions though.
Well wouldn’t you say that is significant? To speak of a being which in your own words is simply referencing a "lack of importance of the body and about our Spirit."
The rest of your remarks are dealing with Jesus which is not what I asked and is clouding the issue. I am speaking of Yahweh. Historically, culturally, and archeologically speaking, the first religions of humanity tended to place female in the center role as "divine" due to the fact that female mammals give birth and are responsible for "creation." Why do you think the pagans resisted the concept of a singular male deity for a very long period of time?
I was reading an article about Dr.Seuss and it talked a little bit about some of his more politically motivated books. "Marvin K. Mooney, Will You Please Go Now!" was one way to demand the resignation of President Nixon.
I’m also tired of the “majority rule” argument. Yes we all realize that Christianity/Catholicism is the predominately practiced religion in the US currently. That obviously does not mean that this country was founded on these principles. One only need look at the Constitution to determine this. Just because CURENTLY this country has more Christian individuals living in it than say Europe, does not mean that majority rule should be followed to the exclusion of the rights of every other citizen who lives and pays taxes in this country. That’s like saying the biggest, ugliest, meanest mob wins.
Confusing. Some denominations take that so seriously that they refuse to acknowledge Mary at all. They feel she has no place in it and is not to be considered divine.
When I was in school, they had what was referred to as "homeroom" and it was your classroom before first period. Here we had a morning bulletin and the homeroom instructor told us anything we needed to know and we could ask questions. It was like an orientation period each morning. That would be the equivalent of what you just described. There was no "meditation" or prayer. No one was singled out. That is where the line gets very blurry and it is not fair to the atheist and agnostic students.
No, your comments are welcome. I agree with you that prayer needs to be left out of the public school environment. The problem I see is that school is for learning and that time is too precious to be wasted. If we allow for a "moment of silence" for a Christian prayer, then the Jewish kids and the Muslim kids and the Wiccan kids, and the Satanist kids and the Atheist kids will be annoyed. Where does it end? If there were no other place to pray besides a school class room, that would be one thing but you have churches, mosques, home, Sunday School, theology school, any number of other places where prayer is appropriate.
It’s annoying and unreasonable. You are NOT being deprived of anything, you simply WANT everything.
There is no need for such prostration. Just forget about it. The only reason I knew that quote was unsubstantiated was I read a biography about Patrick Henry. I don’t think you did it deliberately because that quote is plastered all over the internet on Christian websites. Let’s just drop it. I accept your apology and that was very brave of you to admit.
Are you implying that half of the bible or the OT does not exist? Would you prefer to discuss the NT? What about Paul? We can start there.
I have not been asked to discuss anything. I have asked questions and have been given no answer.
So the game is let’s dodge krimsa’s questions but ask her a question? Hardly seems fair but go ahead.
I have expressed that the three world religions which are Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all originated out of the Mediterranean region. They have all three been problematic in terms of death, torture and the instigation of warfare. If you are going to quote me, please make sure it is actually my typed words and not conjecture on your part.
Okay go ahead. Point?
I have no problem with Christ. His teachings were nothing new. They were more than likely based in eastern mysticism and it is even suggested by some scholars that he traveled there during the suspicious "gaps" of his life span. That is, if he existed at all. It’s possible that Jesus was a conglomeration of historical figures. Of course Paul only began to write the NT 60 years after the alleged crucifixion of Jesus.
Yes?
I believe in the existence of a higher power. The ocean is an example of a "higher power". Humans are quite small and insignificant by comparison.

Beach I miss that little blue "huh" emoticon form Mingle. Remember the one with the eyebrow that goes up?
