RE: Capital Punishment

It’s only a "color issue" because of the great disparage between the ethnic minorities and Caucasians currently sitting on death row awaiting execution.

RE: Capital Punishment

Well how many wealthy whites do you see awaiting the gas chamber?

RE: Capital Punishment

This is a tough question and for the majority of my adult life, I was pro death penalty. The only reason why I have reconsidered my position on capital punishment now is after further research, most of the people on death row are poor, undereducated, very often non Caucasian individuals. It just seems that the power of the state to take a life is not evenly dispersed amongst the collective populace.

RE: Dating & Alcohol

Yes but I don’t understand your response sorry. Alcoholic needs to stay focused on recovery and abstinence for the rest of their life. This is what I recall "AA's assessment of the alcoholic" entailing. Are you implying that an alcoholic can be "cured" in some respect and never have to worry about the threat of falling pray to excessive drinking again? I would disagree in that case.

RE: know someone for a year and ask them out but they ignore your question!!! and put you off

The problem with pursuing something like this is it generally will give the impression that you are a little strange, possibly possessive or unstable. Most women are afraid of that and don’t want to deal with it. It’s very frightening or it can be. I’m not saying that you are this way or that you mean her any harm, it’s just how it can "appear". You don’t want to force her into a position to have to be mean to you.

RE: know someone for a year and ask them out but they ignore your question!!! and put you off

I didnt bother with the poll. If someone puts you off after you ask them out, then they just arent into you. Stop dwelling on it and move on.

RE: Dating & Alcohol

??

RE: Dating & Alcohol

It would appear that the OP deactivated. Too many jokes I guess.

RE: dating rules

As far as this internet meeting thing is concerned, I have some specific safety rules. The guy must come to me first. I will only meet him in a public place and thats pretty much it.

RE: What's The Weather Like In Your Area?

Its snowing right now. Im in New Hampshire, US.

RE: Law and Grace, Old Covenant and New Covenant

I dont know Ray. "Life Of Brian" was a pretty good flick. rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Duct Tape

rolling on the floor laughing Never thought of the finger tip thing. That’s clever. You do know your home invasions.

RE: Duct Tape

Duct tape is the single most useful invention EVER. I find it comes in handy when breaking and entering and finding that there was in fact someone in the house after all. I’m not very good with rope or effective knot work. I hope I didn’t steal anyone's response.

RE: A rather fearful question but curious...

I think there is a moment of "letting go" from this plane of existence. People that are sick and dying are aware of it. This is why you often hear of people "waiting" and holding on perhaps to see a loved one before they pass. Even animals have been known to do this and hold on until the right moment.

Immediately following is anyone’s guess but I imagine some kind of metamorphosis might occur much like a butterfly crawls out from a chrysalis, we will shed our earthly form (bodies) and pass on to whatever is next.

RE: Law and Grace, Old Covenant and New Covenant

Oh and that entire Isaiah prophecy thing? "The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me." These words were spoken by Isaiah and referred to Isaiah. They were not a prophecy about a future prophet, as Jesus claimed in Luke 4:16-19, where he supposedly read these verses in the synagogue while applying them to himself. 61:1-2

Just thought I would point that out. I cant remember who mentioned it first.

RE: DIVINE CREATOR or Darwin's Theory ?

I think we had $4 bills for a period of time and they were far too annoying so they were removed from circulation.

RE: DIVINE CREATOR or Darwin's Theory ?

Indeed. According to the standard theory, our universe sprang into existence as "singularity" around 13.7 billion years ago. What is a "singularity" and where does it come from? I dont know. I dont think anyone knows exactly. Not even physics can fully explain it. Singularities are zones which defy our current understanding of physics. They are thought to exist at the core of "black holes." Uhh.

RE: Law and Grace, Old Covenant and New Covenant

I was thinking that also but didnt want to be rude or make it personal. laugh

RE: Law and Grace, Old Covenant and New Covenant

Well I agree with a great portion of what you stated there. The little bits I didn’t are not worth mentioning. However it will not stop me from mentioning the OT as being part of the entire religious dogma that is established Christianity today. That’s it, plain and simple. I will not simply pick up the NT and go from there. That falls into the realm of "designer Christianity". Not to mention that there are several passages and books in the NT that are not exactly what I would consider divine proximity either.

RE: There seems to be a problem of having the same old lame hineys on this site. What shall we do?

RE: DIVINE CREATOR or Darwin's Theory ?

That’s the position that the Roman Catholics take. There is really no reason for the concept behind biological evolution to be at odds with anyone's beliefs about a divine creator. Perhaps evolution was merely a mechanism for creation.

RE: DIVINE CREATOR or Darwin's Theory ?

Oh I know. I wasnt arguing. Im just telling you that the posted video explains why its quite reasonable to take the position that macro evolution has been established as scientific reality.

If you just wnat to have beliefs, then thats your choice. wine

RE: Serious Problem!!!!!

Uhh, let that go.

RE: DIVINE CREATOR or Darwin's Theory ?

Australopithecus afarensis. Sorry you cant edit here.

RE: DIVINE CREATOR or Darwin's Theory ?

The "Missing Link" is Lucy. She is estimated to have lived 3.2 million years ago. The discovery of this hominin was significant as the skeleton shows evidence of small skull capacity akin to that of apes and of bipedal upright walk akin to that of humans, providing further evidence that bipedalism preceded increase in brain size in human evolution. Creationists just expect paleontolgists to jump through flaming hoops.

Why dont you produce the skeletal remains of Adam and Eve for goodness sake.

RE: DIVINE CREATOR or Darwin's Theory ?

Slim this is why ID won’t be taught in school any time soon. Macro Evolution is essentially proven. It is based in scientific reality. Creationists incapable of response to this latest data.

RE: Law and Grace, Old Covenant and New Covenant

I never stated that he did.

Once again, please go back and read my posts. I NEVER stated that Jesus himself stoned anyone. Clearly the Jesus of the bible condemned the Law of the OT. There are certainly some passages that are unclear in this respect. At one point he states that he has come to "uphold the law."

That aside, I am speaking of Yahweh.

So now you are asserting that it is a different god from the OT?

In that case, you have two choices here.

A. Admit that the OT was nothing more than the agenda driven ranting of men who sought power and nothing more or

B. There are two different gods being represented. An angry, jealous, misogynist’s deity in the OT and a kinder, gentler one in the NT? Though not entirely based on several questionable passages including Saul Paul.

And clearly most of those prophecies never came to fruition.

I am with you 100% on this statement.

Paul also stated:

11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

Paul says "the head of the woman is the man," meaning that the women are to be subordinate to men.

RE: Law and Grace, Old Covenant and New Covenant

I never stated that Jesus condemned women to be stoned; I said that Yahweh, his father did. Unless you are attempting to assert that it is a different deity from the OT until the NT in some respect? In that case I am all ears if you want to explain.

RE: DIVINE CREATOR or Darwin's Theory ?

There are "degrees of relatedness" clearly. Chimp is the closest. You might as well say, well raccoons have two eyes and a heart and they give live birth so we must be related to them in some respect. Hardly. We are both mammals and that’s it.

RE: DIVINE CREATOR or Darwin's Theory ?

I’m fairly certain we do not share 96% identical similarity with the genetic sequencing of vermin. It is chimpanzee alone. We did not "evolve from chimp". We diverged from them about 6 million years ago and they continued forth on their evolutionary path as did we. We evolved as a separate species that shared a common ancestor.
