His name is Cannon Hinnant
You may not have heard of him. Much of mainstream news has chosen not to report on him. He was 5 years old. Outside playing when a 25 year old man came up and shot him point blank in the head. The shooting happened 4 days ago.
Why has much of news turned a blind eye to this horrific murder? For me the answer is simple: because the little boy was white and the alleged murderer (in police custody) is black. Now i don't think it should matter a damn in a situation like this - this story should be front page news everywhere. It is a horrific murder of a very young child. But i think we also know that if the skin colors were reversed there would be a whole different kind of coverage. Now i don't pretend to know if the motive of this murder was a racist one. It certainly could be. The murderer could have been clinically psychotic or off his head on drugs. I try not to assume. Just as i didn't assume motive with George Floyd, i'm not going to assume it here. Let there be a thorough investigation and the facts come out. But really it is very very VERY sad that this story is not getting more coverage. What kind of world are we living in where a 5 year old boy out playing can be shot in the head and many news outlets choose not to report it?

This was the person I had hoped Biden would choose as his running mate.
I was told by someone on here, that it wouldn't happen. He backed Tulsi, who incidently did not even run in the primary in Hawaii.
Biden's selection of Harris not only indicates his current ability to choose wisely, but his ability to respect
people who go against him. Harris's debates with Biden were famous.
She has good intentions (unlike the horrendous "so-called" president we currently have) and she has pure fire in her belly. She is very motivated to make changes for the better, and not the type to take b.s. from anyone. What a shame she won't be the one prosecuting our current "so-called" president. If she wasn't getting VP, I had hoped Biden would have made her attorney general (AG).
She was AG in California for 6 years and is currently serving this nation as a US senator.
Last year she said;
During her presidential bid, she stated that, "I’m running to fight for Medicare for All, universal pre-K, debt-free college & more. To guarantee middle-class families a pay increase of up to $500/mo with the largest working-class tax cut in decades — paid for by reversing this Admin’s gifts to big corporations & the top 1%".
She has also stated "We have a president who believes in science fiction. I believe in science fact. Climate change is real and we're in the midst of a climate crisis. We need a #GreenNewDeal and as president, on day one, America will rejoin the Paris Agreement."
Kamala also said, "Health care should be a right for every American, not just a privilege for those who can afford it. Trump’s anti-immigrant agenda couldn’t be more clear. He has separated families. Locked children in cages. Sought to spend billions on his border wall, which is nothing more than a vanity project. That is not reflective of our values and it has to end."
We are here knowing that we are at an inflection point in the history of our world. We are at an inflection point in in the history of our nation. We are here because the American Dream and our American democracy are under attack and on the line like never before.
We are here at this moment in time because we must answer a fundamental question: Who are we? Who are we as Americans?
So, let’s answer that question. To the world. And each other. Right here. And, right now.
America, we are better than this.
When we have leaders who lie and bully and attack a free press and undermine our democratic institutions that’s not our America. When white supremacists march and murder in Charlottesville or massacre innocent worshipers at a Pittsburgh synagogue that’s not our America. When we have children in cages crying for their mothers and fathers, don't you dare call it border security, that’s a human rights abuse and that’s not our America. When we have leaders who attack public schools and vilify public school teachers that’s not our America. When bankers who crashed our economy get bonuses but workers who brought our country back can't even get a raise that’s not our America.
And when American families are barely living paycheck to paycheck, what is this administration’s response? Their response is to try to take away health care from millions of families. Their response is to give away a trillion dollars to the biggest corporations in this country. And their response is to blame immigrants as the source of all our problems.
And guys lets understand what is happening here: People in power are trying to convince us that the villain in our American story is each other. But that is not our story. That is not who we are. That’s not our America.
Our United States of America is not about us versus them. It’s about We the people!
And in this moment, we must all speak truth about what’s happening.
Seek truth, speak truth and fight for the truth.

Proudly South African
Due to a sport boycott during the apartheid era, South Africa only participated in eight Rugby World Cup tournaments, which is two less than the other first tier rugby playing nations. Yet, our national rugby team, aka the Springboks, won the Webb Ellis Cup four times, which is more than anybody else - even though they had less opportunity to do so, effectively winning the world cup 50% of the times they participated. 
They won every single final they played. They made it to the semi finals five or six times. Regrettably I cannot find the exact number but I'm sure somebody will correct me. And, together with France and New Zealand, they never failed to make it to the quarter finals.
Twice they lost a pool game and still went on to win the Rugby World cup; something else nobody else could do.
But the most remarkable thing is that there are no big names in the Springbok team, nobody that is best in the world in his position; just a very efficient rugby machine running on all cylinders. A team of selfless players playing for their country. A team that never gives up.

Relaxed old age my foot!
The biggest fantasy is that when you get old and retired, life is easy. People take care of you. You have all the time in the world to play. Bull!
Reality is how on earth did we do everything when we did work!
I have two houses on the farm. The old farmhouse I rent and the main I live in with a boarder in the basement. He and a neighbor are pseudo sons. I rent the farm house cheap with the lease that they are part caretakers, do barn chores in morning, take care of what the house needs unless major. I have had the gamut of tenants. Ended up with one guy for 23 years who was like a brother. He was killed when the corn plant blew up and came down on him. He buddy took the house years ago. We got along well.
This tenant, a lawyer, grew up on a farm. Smoker and a bit partier. Ends up with lung cancer a year ago or two. Does chemo and radiation and puts it in its place. Regular maintenance chemo.
He gets health issues. Fluid in chest. Swelled arm. He went off chemo to get his hip replaced last spring. 6 weeks and seem all is well.
A week or more ago, he texts me he is having daughter take him to ER. Must have pulled arm and pain too bad.
He texts me he has major infection and a T12 compression fracture vertebra. Surgery is planned on shoulder, spine, etc. Daughter ends up texting, it is staph, he is in induced comma and bad shape. It ends up its in two heart valves and brain. He died a week ago or so. Hard to keep track of days.
She and I both blame the hospital giving him the staph. He had chemo the week prior. They couldn't notice it?
So now I sit with a vacant house that I have to deal with. I need that well for barn water. I am doing all the barn chores am and pm. I told neighbor he needs to move in. Oh..too big a bother in winter. Word of mouth to find a tenant. I am taping heavy vinyl over windows and pink insul foam. Try to shut house tight and keep gas low. 5% a week as of now. 50sF still. His daughter cant find info as to where he got gas. I called and found one that will bring it when I am at 25%. That is lower than I like.
So much for retirement. Good thing I am about the same as at 50..just a bit slower. Cause it is back at it for me. I will do an ad in spring unless neighbor decides to live up to the fact he will inherit along with my boarder so might as well start learning.

Ivermectin, the true facts.
In response to: You may have seen ads on television for Heartgard, which prevents heartworm disease in dogs, and treats and controls intestinal worms in animals. One of two active ingredients in Heartgard is ivermectin.
Ivermectin is a broad spectrum anti-parasitic, with approved uses in animals and humans. The drug was developed in the late 1970s. In veterinary medicine, it is indicated to prevent and treat heartworm. In humans, ivermectin is indicated for, among other conditions, two neglected tropical diseases, river blindness (onchocerciasis) and lymphatic filariasis.
Bizarrely, in right-wing political circles, ivermectin has become increasingly popular as an antidote to Covid-19. The drug is embroiled in a Covid-19 culture war that pits (as yet) unproven treatments against proven measures, such as vaccines. On Friday, August 27th, in a speech at the Texas Youth Summit, Representative Louie Gohmert touted ivermectin as an effective treatment for Covid-19, despite there being no substantiated scientific evidence to back this up.
Gohmert is not alone in spreading misinformation. Social media is rife with assertions that ivermectin is beneficial for preventing and treating Covid-19. As a result, in a number of states poison control centers are being inundated with calls from people who’ve taken ivermectin and are experiencing severe adverse effects. In response, the Food and Drug Administration has been urging people not to ingest ivermectin, with colorful tweets like this one: “You are not a horse. You are not a cow. Seriously, y’all. Stop it.”
Many talking heads have taken to the airwaves to decry what appears to be irrational behavior on the part of ivermectin enthusiasts. Rachel Maddow of MSNBC said: “Literally people won’t take the vaccine because they’re super suspicious of that, but they’re taking horse deworming medication that they’re buying at a feed store.”
The unfolding ivermectin culture war is reminiscent of last year’s polarizing debate on hydroxychloroquine. Hydroxychloroquine is another rather old drug, indicated for malaria. Like ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine is on the World Health Organization’s essential drug list. Essential medicines support the priority healthcare needs of patients, particularly in developing nations, and are selected based on their public health relevance, evidence of safety and efficacy, and comparative cost-effectiveness.
Of all drugs right-wingers would have gravitated to, ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine are most unusual candidates, in that they’re largely used in humans in developing nations for conditions rarely seen in the U.S.
All the talk of ivermectin being a deworming agent for animals doesn’t do justice to its crucial role in combating two devastating neglected tropical diseases in humans: River blindness and lymphatic filariasis. It doesn’t matter how stupid you think you have made yourself sound, someone will always respond to it positively and validate it.

Apparently this lady had a 10 point plan that was adopted by the UN.
Here is the 10 point plan.
1. Change the curriculum to ensure children are freed from the bondage of Christian culture. Children go to school to be equipped to face life.
2. Break the communication between parent and child. So parents do not pass on their Christian traditions to their children. Liberate children from the bondage of their parent traditions.
3. The Christian family structure is oppressive and it is the core of the nation. If you break the family, you break the nation. Liberate the people from the confines of this structure.
4. Build clinics for abortion. Health clinics in schools. If people are going to enjoy the joy of s*xual relationships, they need to be free of unnecessary fears, such as unwanted pregnancies.
5. Love has got a mysterious link called the love bond. It is like an ovum that comes out of the ovary. Only one other person in the world can respond to that love bond, when you see that person, everything within you clicks. Get that person at whatever cost, even if it means getting them out of their marriage. Don't be held in bondage by Christian values.
6. s*xual enjoyment is the highest pleasure in humanity. No one must be restricted on how to enjoy themselves. People should be allowed in whichever way they choose, whether it is homosexuality, incest or bestiality, as long as all parties agree.
7. Promote new forms of art which will corrupt and defile the imagination of people. Art is the language of the spirit, that which is inside, you can bring out in painting, music, acting, drama etc.
8. The greatest channel you need to use to change human attitude is media.
9. Promote other faiths to be at par with Christianity, and break this thing about Christianity as being the only way to heaven, by that Christianity will be pulled down and other faiths promoted.
10. The church must change its doctrine and accommodate the people by accepting these things and put them into its structures and systems.

Apparently this lady had a 10 point plan that was adopted by the UN.
Here is the 10 point plan.
1. Change the curriculum to ensure children are freed from the bondage of Christian culture. Children go to school to be equipped to face life.
2. Break the communication between parent and child. So parents do not pass on their Christian traditions to their children. Liberate children from the bondage of their parent traditions.
3. The Christian family structure is oppressive and it is the core of the nation. If you break the family, you break the nation. Liberate the people from the confines of this structure.
4. Build clinics for abortion. Health clinics in schools. If people are going to enjoy the joy of s*xual relationships, they need to be free of unnecessary fears, such as unwanted pregnancies.
5. Love has got a mysterious link called the love bond. It is like an ovum that comes out of the ovary. Only one other person in the world can respond to that love bond, when you see that person, everything within you clicks. Get that person at whatever cost, even if it means getting them out of their marriage. Don't be held in bondage by Christian values.
6. s*xual enjoyment is the highest pleasure in humanity. No one must be restricted on how to enjoy themselves. People should be allowed in whichever way they choose, whether it is homosexuality, incest or bestiality, as long as all parties agree.
7. Promote new forms of art which will corrupt and defile the imagination of people. Art is the language of the spirit, that which is inside, you can bring out in painting, music, acting, drama etc.
8. The greatest channel you need to use to change human attitude is media.
9. Promote other faiths to be at par with Christianity, and break this thing about Christianity as being the only way to heaven, by that Christianity will be pulled down and other faiths promoted.
10. The church must change its doctrine and accommodate the people by accepting these things and put them into its structures and systems.
