Who Kamala Devi Harris is.

This was the person I had hoped Biden would choose as his running mate.
I was told by someone on here, that it wouldn't happen. He backed Tulsi, who incidently did not even run in the primary in Hawaii.

Biden's selection of Harris not only indicates his current ability to choose wisely, but his ability to respect
people who go against him. Harris's debates with Biden were famous.

She has good intentions (unlike the horrendous "so-called" president we currently have) and she has pure fire in her belly. She is very motivated to make changes for the better, and not the type to take b.s. from anyone. What a shame she won't be the one prosecuting our current "so-called" president. If she wasn't getting VP, I had hoped Biden would have made her attorney general (AG).
She was AG in California for 6 years and is currently serving this nation as a US senator.

Last year she said;

During her presidential bid, she stated that, "I’m running to fight for Medicare for All, universal pre-K, debt-free college & more. To guarantee middle-class families a pay increase of up to $500/mo with the largest working-class tax cut in decades — paid for by reversing this Admin’s gifts to big corporations & the top 1%".

She has also stated "We have a president who believes in science fiction. I believe in science fact. Climate change is real and we're in the midst of a climate crisis. We need a #GreenNewDeal and as president, on day one, America will rejoin the Paris Agreement."

Kamala also said, "Health care should be a right for every American, not just a privilege for those who can afford it. Trump’s anti-immigrant agenda couldn’t be more clear. He has separated families. Locked children in cages. Sought to spend billions on his border wall, which is nothing more than a vanity project. That is not reflective of our values and it has to end."

We are here knowing that we are at an inflection point in the history of our world. We are at an inflection point in in the history of our nation. We are here because the American Dream and our American democracy are under attack and on the line like never before.
We are here at this moment in time because we must answer a fundamental question: Who are we? Who are we as Americans?
So, let’s answer that question. To the world. And each other. Right here. And, right now.
America, we are better than this.
When we have leaders who lie and bully and attack a free press and undermine our democratic institutions that’s not our America. When white supremacists march and murder in Charlottesville or massacre innocent worshipers at a Pittsburgh synagogue that’s not our America. When we have children in cages crying for their mothers and fathers, don't you dare call it border security, that’s a human rights abuse and that’s not our America. When we have leaders who attack public schools and vilify public school teachers that’s not our America. When bankers who crashed our economy get bonuses but workers who brought our country back can't even get a raise that’s not our America.
And when American families are barely living paycheck to paycheck, what is this administration’s response? Their response is to try to take away health care from millions of families. Their response is to give away a trillion dollars to the biggest corporations in this country. And their response is to blame immigrants as the source of all our problems.
And guys lets understand what is happening here: People in power are trying to convince us that the villain in our American story is each other. But that is not our story. That is not who we are. That’s not our America.
Our United States of America is not about us versus them. It’s about We the people!
And in this moment, we must all speak truth about what’s happening.
Seek truth, speak truth and fight for the truth.

This is the type of person America needs, especially now after the worst presidency in USA history.
The country needs reform. It needs it's path corrected and it needs to be united.
Kamala will make a terrific VP and if Biden does not make it through 4, or 8 years, she will make a good president too. Kamala, may you succeed in your journey. The country needs you, more now, than ever. head banger

@This was the person I had hoped Biden would choose as his running mate.

I not only hoped but was very sure that he must pick her.
thumbs up
She's the right choice.
Last I heard, however, Rice had the inside track.

She didn't Lose. She withdrew from the Congressional Race last October ...

"In January 2019, Kahele announced he would run for a seat in the House of Representatives from Hawaii's 2nd congressional district. Incumbent Representative Tulsi Gabbard, who had run for President, announced on October 25, that she would not run for another term in Congress. pointing Kahele won the primary election on August 8, 2020."

My mistake on that. Thanks for the correction.
Your mistake on Biden picking Tulsi.
OMG ! Can you imagine what the VP debate will be like ?
They are probably going to have to drag Pence kicking & screaming out from the bunker
just to get him there. laugh

Somehow they did it. There's video of the debate already;

laugh
True enough, I suppose.
Certainly safe enough to make it a "One Choice sElection" for Donor Class Oligarchs -

@ 1:00 - " ... they prefer Biden, but they can live with Trump." ... smile

Pence will be a dogs dinner after Kamala chews him up & spits him out laugh
Yeah, if Biden gives a huge permanent tax break to the rich, I'll consider otherwise.
Kamala Harris, a defining moment.. wave

WATCH: Kamala Harris asks Barr whether the White House has asked him to investigate anyone

May 2, 2019

‘I think you’ve made it clear that you have not looked at the evidence.’ — Sen. Kamala Harris’ entire questioning of AG William Barr is well worth your 8 minutes.

In political news and Mueller investigation latest news, Bill Barr (Attorney General of the US) testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee today. The William Barr hearing was in response to Barr's summary of the Mueller Report and the latest Mueller investigation update that Mueller had expressed concerns to Bill Barr after Barr's summary that attorney general barr was mischaracterizing the investigation's findings about President Trump. Those watching William Barr live saw Sen Kamala Harris grill AG William Barr thoroughly. Harris' questioning was arguably one of the highlights of the attorney general hearing and William Barr testimony. There have been a lot of Mueller investigation reactions, but Harris showed a measured approach in her questioning.
I'm sure a dog could find something more nutritious to eat. laugh
More likely, Pence will get sick right before the debate and go running & squeeling, like a dog with it's
tail between it's legs. laugh
What are the odds, that he comes down with having to quarantine for 2 weeks right before the debate. laugh
b - excellent video of Harris in action. thumbs up
Barr trying to answer her questions reminded me of Jackie Gleason on The Honeymooners "hummana hummana hummana". laugh
Mic - the video you chose cut off Kamala's response to Tulsi;

"Who Kamala Devi Harris is."

She is smart, ambitious, a fighter, articulate, ect.

I would like to see her and Trump debate (that will not happen). :(
Let's be honest here, whoever Biden decided to choose as VP, no Trump supporter would find agreeable, they will lie and spread malicious rumours about them. Quite frankly, the more lies and misinformation they spread the more most sane people will want that person. If the Republican Trump lovers hate the choice of VP, the better the chance of Biden winning!
To knock Biden as senile and unsuitable while supporting a man like Trump is blatant hypocrisy!
Tulsi 2 Harris 0 thumbs up

That's the delegates count BTW from the Democrat primaries

Harris was so unlikeable she couldn't manage a single one
Was there any VP debates in 2016 BTW? dunno I don't remember any

Tells you how confident most people are in Biden though that they're trying to take away focus from him debating Trump and instead putting it on the VP's debating laugh
And as for Harris' 'performance' in questioning Barr - because performance it was - she didn't so much ask him questions and give him the opportunity to reply, as level accusations at him and then rudely interrupt him most times when he went to speak. This does NOT sit well with most voters, who expect a minimum of decorum from elected members. And people won't soon have forgotten how she acted in Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation process. Oh boy. To be considered the WORST person in that disgusting debacle? Oh boy...

She'll appeal to the more extreme elements on the left with her performative theatre - less so to your traditional on the fence voter (ie. the ones who decide elections)
So the attack is on - an extension of Trump's steady drumbeat of hate and fear. And CS Right Wingers will play their role expressing irrational messages fear and hate. Harris in the White House would be a serious set back for Trump's Make America White Again campaign.
It certainly does. He would not have chosen her as his running mate, if he did not have very high respect for her. He would have chosen someone else.
Sadly, that has been the way they have chosen to behave towards anyone who challenges the narcissist demagogue in office. thumbs down
A political party will have researchers and advisers.

Just like picking a jury, the research, assessment and selection of candidates is motivated by the desire to achieve a certain outcome.

Liking, or respecting jury members is irrelevant.

Liking, or respecting the VP may make for a more pleasant working relationship, but the priority will be getting elected.

It's notable how much talk there is about Biden not being able to complete his term(s) of office due to his perceived fragility. I wonder if Harris had been a presidential candidate whether she had any chance of being voted into office, but as VP she is considered suitable to take over.

I wonder if there is a plan in there somewhere to get Harris into office without the risk of an election failure due to her being a biracial woman.

On the other hand, perhaps some voters may overlook any qualms they have about voting for Biden if they think Harris will take over sometime soon. There is likely a multi-faceted aspect to her selection in the interests of maximising votes.

Thinking that Joe Biden personally and solely picked Harris for VP and that he respects her is a romantic notion. It's not like Biden is known for respecting women.
This is hilarious, from someone who supports a man who is the most uncouth, un-diplomatic and the very opposite to decorum one could possibly imagine.doh rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
How two-faced can anyone get?
The dementia claim is overblown. Both candidates are old and do not handle verbal disputes as sharp as when they were younger. The big difference, is that Trump makes up many lies. One does not win debates by spewing out lies.
Joe Biden lied about assaulting Tara Reade. He nodded 'yes' just like Bill Clinton did when he made his public denial.

I have said that I wouldn't be able to respect any woman who agrees to be his VP, but if the plan is to usurp him, I can remain neutral for the time being.
Trump, even on a good day, can't form sentences, nor pronounce words correctly.
And that's not covfefe. Just ask Tim Apple in Yo Semite. laugh
Come on. You can't be serious. This was merely a compliment.
Is that the best you can do to avoid confronting your hypocrisy?

Pick one relatively minor piece out of all the information, take it out of it's wider context and use it to blinker your bias?
That's like saying, "She's just a little pregnant."

C'mon, Man!

in some ways it is. They both go through stages of development and with different people the progression has somewhat different timing.

While we are discussing this sort of thing, I recently noticed, what a large difference there is on Trump speeches back from even 2017 versus now. He's always been a liar. But in 2017 he was MUCH more lucid. His dementia has really accelerated. He's really a shell of what he was in 2017.
I am not talking about his looks.
I mean his mental situation.
Obama is still very lucid.

Trump is much worse than he was.
He wasn't good to start.
But, mentally he's a shell of what he was when he got elected, or even
comparing him to what he was in 2017.
I looked back and saw a huge difference.
A principle in two-party games like chess is to choose the move which would most discomfort you if you were on the other side of the board. That is a principle exercised in the selection of this vice-presidential candidate. 'Who will the Republicans/Trump least relish as the opponent?'
