Misleading stat claims more vaccinated people die
In response to: Some people, including those pushing an anti-vaccine agenda online, have been misinterpreting figures showing that a large proportion of those dying with the Delta variant of coronavirus had been vaccinated.
One conspiracy site even claimed vaccinated people were dying at higher rates than those who had not received the jab, which is untrue.
This site and others use real figures in a misleading way, to arrive at a completely false conclusion - that the vaccine may not be working or even doing more harm than good.
The latest Public Health England (PHE) figures show there were 92,029 confirmed Delta cases between 1 February and 22 June, most of which were identified in June.
Of these, 58% were in completely unvaccinated people and only 8% were fully vaccinated. For context, by the start of June more than half of adults in the UK were fully vaccinated. If the vaccines weren't helping, we would expect them to make up more than half the cases.
So we can see the vaccine is reducing cases.

New Normal...Old Normal.
It's taken a year and seven months but we here finally seem to be back to normal, not a new normal just the old normal, all be it with masks in shops and public transport etc, in "normal" every 10 weeks or so some of us locally gather for a party, this came about after the 3 bars in the village closed some years back and a couple from the UK, who own a holiday home here, missed meeting up in the bar as part of their regular holidays here, so they decided to hold a party at their house on a Sunday during their stay, until yesterday the last time this happened was in early summer of last year, it was during the lull between waves where travel restrictions were lifted for a while, however it was only us Brits willing to take a chance at that time and the Spanish contingent declined, so it was a fairly small affair. Yesterday we all met together for the first time since March 2020.
A lot of our region reached level zero this week, that's an end of all local restrictions, mask law being national, our part of the region is due to get to level zero this week, Covid only formed a small part of the conversation yesterday, being our first chance to catch up on what's happened during the last year and a half, nobody there was in any doubt what made the return to normal possible, vaccination, nobody had heard of anyone they knew dying from being vaccinated though we all knew someone who'd died from Covid, one doesn't need to be a rocket scientist to look at the data graph for Spain and see where the vaccine effect kicked in, Spain has now vaccinated 90% of all available adults.
Nobody knows what the future holds, but so far nobody here has become magnetic, we all still had the same number of arms and legs, though after a few drinks some still seem unable to use them, so no change there
, nobody is showing any signs of becoming a crocodile, and those vaccinated very early in the UK have zero ill effects from having vaccine, most I spoke to, like me, had zero effects from having the vaccine though I have heard some people feel unwell for a few days afterwards.
So for now, here at least, Covid seems to be a closed book.

Introducing children to junk food as a treat is starting them on the path to ill health in the future.

Weeks after Michigan prosectors hit the pair of right-wing provocateurs with charges in an alleged voter-intimidation robocall scheme, Jacob Wohl, 22, and Jack Burkman, 58, have been indicted by an Ohio grand jury on separate felony counts.
Local prosecutors charged Wohl and Burkman each with eight counts of felony telecommunications fraud and seven counts of felony bribery for allegedly sowing false fears about voting by mail in targeted minority communities in Ohio, plus multiple other states. Warrants were issued for the pair's arrest, who face up to 18 years and six months in prison if convicted.
(Ohio defines "bribery" in this instance as "attempt by intimidation, coercion or other unlawful means to induce such delegate or elector to register or refrain from registering or to vote or refrain from voting at a primary, convention or election for a particular person, question or issue.")
The duo, representing themselves, testified one day earlier before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York (SDNY) in a civil lawsuit brought on behalf of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation in relation to the same alleged scheme. The suit alleges that Wohl and Burkman violated the Ku Klux Klan Act with the calls. (Wohl and Burkman are both Jewish.)
Recordings featuring a woman's voice falsely told recipients that mail-in ballots could be used to "collect outstanding debt," "track down old warrants" and "track people for mandatory vaccines." The recording cited in the lawsuit said the calls were made on behalf of Project 1599, Burkman's group.
"Stay safe," the calls concluded, "and beware of vote by mail."
Burkman, who in August denied involvement, appeared to confess to placing the calls during the New York hearing. When the judge asked whether he had been "acting alone or with anyone else prepared that message and caused it to be sent," Burkman replied in the affirmative.
"Oh, yes, your honor. Yes," he said, adding: "Yes. Yes. Yes."
And indeed, Wohl and Burkman were reported to have conspired with a notorious election trickster just this year: leaking grand jury information in the trial of longtime Trump associate GOP operative Roger Stone, whom President Donald Trump pardoned in July.
Cuyahoga County prosecutors allege that 8,100 calls were placed to phone numbers located in Cleveland and East Cleveland, more than 3,400 of which were answered by a live person or voicemail.
"The right to vote is the most fundamental component of our nation's democracy," Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O'Malley said in a statement. "These individuals clearly infringed upon that right in a blatant attempt to suppress votes and undermine the integrity of this election. These actions will not be tolerated. Anyone who interferes with others' right to vote must be held accountable."
In a statement announcing the charges in Michigan — where the pair went free after pleading not guilty and posting $100,000 bail — state Attorney General Dana Nessel described similar robocalls targeting areas with "significant minority populations" in the state. Cars that fly...
The concept of a flying car isn't new. Every wannabe inventor dreams of building one. Popular Mechanics magazine has been writing stories about them dating back to the 1950's but those were full sized vehicles with gasoline engines and huge wings to give them sufficient lift.
In the last 10 years, I've seen the 'winged' versions disappear and the multi propeller electric 'drone style' high lift vehicles show up on technical and aviation news.
A Chinese company had a 2-seater with 4 sets of dual counter-rotating propellers. The problem was the propellers were at knee level without any protective shroud. that idea 'didn't get off the ground' as it failed in safety.
Why is this talking so long?
A few things I can think of.
Cost.
All the wing style vehicles need a runway.
The idea of being stuck in traffic and unfolding the wing to take off won't happen as aircraft need to have a flight plan, start and land st an airport to be on their radar.
FAA certification of the aircraft and one important detail is YOU MUST BE A LICENSED PILOT.
This year is a new flavor... it's a car with a framework like a wall fan and lots of rotors that give it lift. $300,000 for pre-orders. The first of it's kind to have the go ahead of the FAA. Delivery of this flying car is estimated to be a few years away.
