I (don't) approve of this ad...

For a few months now I've been hearing the phrase "defund the police" and the first time it was someone who feared it (literally) meant taking away money appropriated for police, as in dismantling the police force. Woooo ~~~ so scary!
Yes, it sounds that way as it comes out it the light of current protests.

The TV was on and I was watching some talk show videos on YouTube explaining the purpose of defunding was to be proactive and develop community programs to help resolve issues BEFORE it escalates into a problem for the police to handle. That makes sense. In the case of domestic abuse. By the time police are called, it's too late for something that counseling may have helped avoid a confrontation.

My attention was steered to an ad on TV in the other room... a political ad. I missed the visual. By the time I entered the room the ad was ending and Donald Trump endorsed it.

15 minutes later the ad played again. It showed protest/riots and claimed you won't be safe in Joe Biden's America. The ad depicted a darkened unmanned police department and a single light flashing on the phone that was playing a recorded message. The recording instructed several options for the caller and if you leave a message, someone will get back to you within a week!

I'm thinking the season for dirty politics is in full swing.

I remember Doctor Fauci...

Fauci is the guy who attended several White House meetings where he told America we needed more testing, testing, testing. Three months later, we have the testing and some people are befuddled that more testing reveals additional positive cases of COVID-19.

This weekend I talked with a guy who made it sound like testing was the culprit. My response (to him) was testing doesn't create more virus. Why would you think that?
He was of the opinion that we didn't need so much testing as the numbers were significantly going up! Well duh. Now we have the tools/means to get more accurate findings of asymptomatic cases who could spread the virus without knowing it.

I shouldn't have to tell you this as we all hear it from nearly every news source as it comes from the White House.

Making an appointment to make an appointment...

True story. My brother went to the bank to speak to a financial advisor about his investments there.
He was told much of the staff works from home now, if he needed arrange an office visit, he would have to make an appointment. "Good" he said and asked who he should talk to in order to make the appointment. The response was, the person who schedules appointments also works from home and only visits the office on appointment.

So... his comeback to that was "Are you telling me I need to make an appointment with the person who makes appointments?"

He's thinking about changing banks now.

Coronavirus lockdown... again!

The Florida numbers are spiking at an alarming rate and Miami will begin another shutdown starting this week. Fort Lauderdale is not far behind.

Restaurants and gyms will be closed. Restaurants can open for takeout and delivery only.
Offices, stores and grooming services can remain open. Condo and hotel pools, summer camps and day care centers can open with “strict capacity limits”

Mandatory mask requirements and social distancing is in effect.

Visiting Old ______

I was born in New York and wondered what it would be like to visit Old York. I'm thinking, if there's a New York, they're must be an Old York... kinda like a parallel universe where Mister Spock has a goatee in one universe and clean shaven in the other!

That also has my curiosity about Old Jersey and if it looks the same as New Jersey.
New Haven... Yup, what's the connection with Old Haven.

Does New South Wales resemble Old South Wales?
Should I travel down unda... I'll have to check things out.

I'm sure there are similarities in New Mexico and Old Mexico as they probably make good tacos there.

Last on my list (for now) would be New Caledonia and how it compares to Old Caledonia.

I used to live in the Northeast section of Miami and the same street exists in the Northwest section. Similarly, they have the same house numbers over there and sometimes, I'd get mail intended for the person with the same street and house number but NE instead of NW. I'm sure they got my mail by mistake.

My brother asked if I could visit him in Dayton, Ohio. Oddly he has a neighboring city of Miami. I suppose there are people eccentric enough to buy houses in different states with the same named cities and the same street and house number.

I could use Google Maps and research dual houses with the same city name, street and house number. I'd need a pile of money to convince the residents of both houses to move out and let me move in. Then I could start a YouTube channel and upload videos about my move back to Miami... Florida and Ohio.

After I get the hang of it, I'll explore the same having houses in both New and Old.

Joey Chestnut did it again...

Every 4th of July, Nathan's Famous (company) sponsors a hotdog eating contest in Coney Island. This year added masks. Defending his throne, Joey Chestnut gobbled down 75 hotdogs breaking his record of 71 from last year making 13 years of competitive wins. Second-place fell short of Joey by 30 hotdogs.

Congrats to Kiki Sudo who took first place again in the women's division by wolfing down 48 'dogs' making it her 7th win!

4 out of 5...

I logged on this morning to see that 4 of 5 profiles (with photos) created today are bogus.
Guys, that's not good if your intentions are to meet someone for dating.

We've got Jessica Clements and Valentina Nappi hanging out here!

America...

Simple thought: You don't have to be outwardly patriotic to love America.

Goal Digger...

Interesting twist to the Gold Digger title of women who are in relationships for as much as they can get.
I scanned a Twitter profile and the woman said: "Be a goal digger. Earn your success."

Electric Toothbrush...

I'm shopping for an electric toothbrush. O ral-B looks like the company to buy from as they are available locally. Four models with prices and features are listed on their website. Seriously technology has (in my opinion) gone too far. Who would have thought that Bluetooth connectivity would be an important feature for a toothbrush. 10 meters is the extent of a Bluetooth signal. that would mean if I walked more than 33 feet my cellphone would alert me I've traveled out of range. Important?

WARNING, WARNING !! Bluetooth signal lost... brushing out of sequence.

Under my nose...

There was a time I had control of all my tools, gadgets and hobby parts. I could switch hobbies for months and when I returned back to one everything was in places I recognize.
Since my move, all the knowledge is gone. Guitar things are mixed with drone and model helicopter things, plumbing supplies are in the same box as my vintage record albums.
You get the picture. What's amazing is my partner has perfect recall for things... well, the things in Miami before the move. If I needed the little metal tool to open a can of paint, she could find it in a few seconds.
I had two bookshelves one with computer books and software and the other with model aircraft things. In the aircraft was a few SD memory cards and adapters that allowed me to plug the SD into a computer. This is how I transferred drone videos to my computer. Hold that thought...

Recently, I've been looking for different things that disappeared in my move and after searching high and low and about to give up, I'll see the item I've been looking for set aside within arms reach, close enough to say it was 'under my nose' all along.

The last model helicopter I purchased has new technology the previous models didn't offer. Telemetry between the model and transmitter. Things like RPM, battery voltage can be read via the transmitter. Very cool, except I need to do a firmware update on the transmitter communicate with the receiver.

I downloaded the file to make the upgrade and I need the adapter. I have at least 3 of these things and made no less than four attempts to find them. My guess is they are together in one small plastic bag... somewhere.

It's a holiday weekend and I plan to be at the flying field a good part of it. That upgrade would be 'icing on the cake' so I've got to continue my search and check under my nose again and again for the SD card adapters.
