Service animals
I love animals as much as the next guy...maybe more. It might be the reason I was banned from the petting zoo. If I had my way we'd have 'heavy' petting zoos, but I digress. It seems to me that there are way more 'service' animals than services needed. Dogs aren't allowed on the bus unless of course it's a seeing-eye dog or something of that nature. Ok, I get it. That's actually a thing. Therapy dogs are a thing too, but now we're treading into ambiguous territory. And who's to say where the line is drawn?
No dogs are allowed at the farmers market...well unless it's a cancer-sniffing dog. Hey, I could get cancer any minute so I need to have the dog with me at all times. I just get a cute little doggy jacket and a tag and now my pet is a necessity while at the library.
And why limit these animals to dogs? How about a gluten-detecting squid? An autism armadillo? If I'm so obese that I can't reach my own backside, l could use a butt-wipe orangutan...um
I think Melania Trump already has one.

in some countries , dogs are welcome practically anywhere. Here, they can go farmers' markets and many other places. But they should be allowed into more places.
My dog used to look so woebegone tied up outside the supermarket I thought she'd be thrilled to go into Pets At Home but she was a bit of a menace - dragged me from shelf to shelf, had to be carried away from the bunnies on sale, and tried to attack a puppy for getting more attention than she did. She likes going out in the car but only for trips to the beach, she's always tense until we've gone past the vets and the shops so getting more places for her to be awkward and uncomfortable isn't really a priority in her world.
But there are lots of normal socialised dogs out there
Well of course she isn't. She does quite enjoy going to pavement cafes here. I'd never take her to a flea market, bad enough having to dodge the dogs already there, especially the tiny ones which I am always convinced will be stood on
Even if mine would be happy going, I probably wouldn't take them.
It annoys me though, when most walking routes specifically say no dogs. I can understand so dogs without a leash, but no dogs is crazy.
Britain is definitely more dog-friendly than here.
I only walk because I have a dog who needs walks, the concept of walking for any other reason is totally alien to me. What a waste of pedestrian energy -
To be fair, we do have hills (we call them mountains) that are definitely worth climbing.
