Yes, I'm in love !

This didn't happen overnight.
It took a while to develop.
I haven't talked about it on here.
But, I am definitely in love, and some of the neighbors aren't happy about it. very mad

I've been partaking for the past two weeks;
big, black, luscious, sweet, and juicy ! love
I've gotten some every evening, when I got back home. wink

Yep, it's blackberry season in my backyard. applause
Some of the birds aren't all that happy, about me picking a bunch to eat each evening.
I thought angry birds, was just a video game. dunno laugh

I suppose I don't blame them.
The birds are the ones who originally 'planted' them
and they have spread every year. thumbs up

I use to raise thornless blackberries, they are so good.
One year they were as big as a quarter over on the fence row. thick by grab-bins.a gallon bucket less than 15 min.
I have to pay $2.00 at the supermarket to eat those.

Enjoy.
A - I hope you have lots of mangoes where you are. That is my favorite fruit. I like papaya and pineapple also. Those are all tropical fruits.

h - mine have plenty of thorns, which I frequently encounter stretching for that big berry or two in the center of the brambles.

S - cool ! That's pie enabling. Yum ! I had many of those as a kid.
love love love

Send some over, Jim!!!! laugh
Am - not a bad price. For $2 indulge once in a while.
However, you never know what artificial chemicals are used on the
store bought ones.

e - Free, delicious, natural, and effective fencing. It doesn't get much better than that.

M - sure. Give me your new address.
I had my first blackberry during the week, and ut was gorgeous.
It is usually Aug/Sept before they are out in abundance though.
It must be one of the few berries people still forage for here. Although there are also wild raspberries etc., just not in the same abundance.
m - here both raspberries and blackberries are abundant.
For a couple of years, I had more raspberries than blackberries in my yard.
More recently the blackberries are much more abundant.
But, I do see some new raspberry vines starting too.
In the Princeton area in particular, there are large swaths of
raspberry bushes. There's been some times I've picked and eaten
lots of them, while deer are doing the same within 15 feet of me.
It seems, that we both understood why the other was there.

Thankfully, I've never encountered any bear doing the same. teddybear
I imagine north NJ is a different story regarding that. I dated a gal in north NJ, who frequently had bear in her yard. Raspberries are delicious, but not worth fighting a bear over. laugh
We don't have bears here so we're safe enough laugh
Hi JimN
I think now I could be in love with you for those blackberries. love
In return, here is your favorite so you too could be in love with me.... for these Mangoes.

Have a good weekend, JimN, Mimi, Molly, Exself, and everyone. bouquet
Oh Jim you lucky devil. Do they take full sun?
m - no bears & few snakes in Ireland ? Are there any wolves, coyote, or other predators, besides humans ? Hawks ? Eagles ?

K - I do love mangoes. But, those don't look ripe enough. The wedding is off ! scold laugh
You have a terrific weekend also. thumbs up

U - I don't know. My property has a lot of trees, so mine don't get a lot of sun. My guess is, that they
like partial sun, because I often find them in the wild growing at the edge of fields & woods.
We are pretty much a predator-free country.
In the past there used to be wolves, but unfortunately they were made extinct hundreds of years ago.
They are trying to re-introduce eagles i hope it works.
I suppose there are cats. Is the place crowded with rabbits & mice ?
Cats?.
Domesticated only laugh
Berry nice blog Jim. Berry nice blog...
m - even the domesticated cats will kill a lot of animals. Add to that the feral ones and here in the USA,
they decimate wild bird populations. They will also kill a bunch of field mice and rabbits.

c - I'm glad it was to your....taste. :)
And who was talking about wedding?! tongue
idea Wholegrain blackberry pancakes ! Yesssss ! thumbs up

K - I did. tongue
I think blackberries are too seedy. I bought a hand crank machine that would separate the seeds from the pulp for tomatoes, so I tried the blackberries and what I got was blackberry puree. I sweetened it up a little and used it on ice cream. Then my husband wanted to make wine, I didn't like the wine, he loved it.
oo - I hear your Fats Domino and raise you a Regina Belle.
This goes out to the blackberries I eat each year. laugh

No. I assure you, that they are quite wholesome. laugh

Seriously, I suppose crushing the berries & running the resultant liquid would yield a delicious juice,
or wine, if fermented.
Ekself in Syria they call it. Fence berries
