Superman Is Dead

One of the more recognizable costumed characters on Hollywood Boulevard, a Superman impersonator named Christopher Dennis has passed away. I knew him a bit and have witnessed some of his struggles over the last couple of years.

I first saw him in a documentary called Confessions of a Super Hero a few years before I made my way west. His death is all over the news today and I'm realizing that he was a bit of a local celebrity.

One of my fondest memories was seeing him getting out of a cab near the boulevard dressed as Superman. The irony made me chuckle.

RIP Chris.

He was found in a clothing bin in Van Nuys...no foul play suspected. He had been homeless and maybe was looking for clothes or a place to sleep.
