chaga.....the king of medicinal fungus

Recently, I had a couple of friends telling me about this fungus that grows primarily on birch trees. I was told that it prevents cancer and it also helps with the symptoms of cancer....among many other things once I looked into it online.

One of my friend's father decided to use this instead of other medications for his cancer...and he lived 2 years while doing so. Again, I am not doctor...and this is just what I heard...and by no means am I making any claims here.

However, I am curious. Is this stuff really as good as it is claimed to be? I am lucky, I live in a part of the world where it grows naturally around here. So, currently I am on the look out for some and I am really interested in trying it out for myself. Again, there are many other qualities it has...not just for cancer...so it has been said.

It has been known about for hundreds of years. I wonder, has anyone here ever heard about this fungus? Has anyone here ever drank chaga tea and if so, what was your impression of it?

I just heard about this on Wednesday and I have not found any yet. However, I do intend on finding some and trying it. I will update this blog with my experience with it as soon as I find it.

Happy Saturday all.

Dont think i would try it. though
Not yet Johnny but I'll research.

Birch trees are beautiful. My first house here in the USA, California was full of these beautiful trees.

Minnesota has a lot of them, too.

Anyways I'll let you know what I'll find out about it.wave
A few bloggers recommend non medical "cures" and health enhancers without knowing if they are safe.
Some bacteria are harmful and are often found in wild vegetation. Some animals that inhabit these environments also carry harmful bacteria and viruses. So I would recommend checking first.

I drink four to five cups per day of my chaga/coffee brew, for some time now and there has been a noticeable change in my late stage COPD, I also don't consume any dairy because of the mucous factor in dairy that goes into the lungs. All goat milk products only. I'm not on any meds except puffers and I am slowly backing off on the use of them. I still get flare ups but nowhere near the amount that happened before. About 15 plus hospital trips in the past 4 ish years, with 2 of them in the past year. When a bad lare up happens you wonder if its pine box time.

Do some research on chaga, I love it and it tastes near coffee like and offers health benefits. It's been used for hundreds of years.
I harvest my own from the bush. Here in the Canadian shield.

Hello Ex,

Yes...that is what I am trying to figure out...if I should try it or not. So far, I am on board to it as there has nothing terrible said about it.

I have not found any yet. :(

Hello SR,

Thank you for any research you have done. Yes, they are beautiful trees. There is a way to harvest this fungus without killing the trees.

I agree Mer...I would not try this stuff unless I am certain that it is safe and clean. thumbs up

Yes Robert...those frogs are dandy creatures. Why don't you share your experience with them. laugh

Weed....indeed....will make you hungry, for just about anything. laugh ....including that gas station stuff...all of it. :)

cheers
Wow Luke....all great stuff. I am going to look into some of that. I am a big fan of all natural...if a person does not have to absolutely rely on manmade. However, I suspect a lot of our medicines probably come from plant based products in the first place.

Thank you Luke.

cheers
Bent...thank you for sharing that link....extremely informative.

After reading it, I am now even more excited about finding some. :)
If you harvest your own, be sure to leave a remainder proud of the bark, a clear plastic bag tied around the tree(will catch and secure your piece)and a hammer and chisel at the cut off point to break away a 70 ish % chunk. Don't go into the bark for the removal. Good luck in your search.
Thanks for the tip. I just bought some online. However, I still intend on harvesting it myself.
