Roll Call - My Name is

Its Shay = Sh**** A****

I had this name for nearly 29 years now. Of course I do like my name. My mother told me my name was taken from a young Filipina actress who was famous when I was born. She adored her that time, and thought how pretty she was and that would make me pretty also carrying that name(of course that didn't work out, lol). My father let my mother chose my name, no discussion whatsoever.

Where your name came from? A combination of your mother and father's name (Yes, we do that)? Do you like your name? If ever one day you could actually change your name what would you choose?

Me, I would like Janina Caroline. Sounds gorgeous. blushing

No intention of exposing your real name. wink

My initials are DM. I was born in Germany, obviously before the days of the Euro, when the currency in Germany was the Deutsch Mark, or the DM. Not the most romantic reason behind a name, to be called after the currency of the country where you were born....but thats the way it goes some time!!

Shay....don't go tryint to tell people you're not pretty. You know we all think you are!! kiss
shay hug bouquet

My first name and my last name were given by my father and my middle names were given by my mom. They came from different islands or different ethnics so they had fair contributions over my full name giggle

My first name was taken from a folk story, a legend about a small kingdom in my father's hometown. It was either the name of the queen or the war goddess of the kingdom grin

I am not interested to change my name at all. I like my first name as I think it's kind of unique and people seldom to hear it unless you come to my father's hometown laugh

Oh, so there was a discussion of your name then. Sounds beautifully traditional and respectable. Nice. I like it.

So Lach, your family name is your father's family name also right? And your middle name would be the surname of your mother when she was still single? That's how we compose our full name. Is it the same for you?
Hey Morgen, is it? Or Morgan? (a or e)?
10K, comfort I quiet get a grasp on your real name. P. It sounds strong and confident.
My first two names are my father's first two names in reverse :)

Hi Laz, good afternoon.

My real name is close to the one you mention. Sounds the same.

Our family and friends do tend to call us with pet names, right. Its kinda adoring.
Sweet, for us siblings its different letters. My three siblings have two names, and I wish I had two names too.
OK Shay,

Sorry if you took it that way, i did not know if i say it in a cute way seems with a pet name. That wasn't my intencione.

Wish you a nice evening! wave
Hhmm, okay D. Would you tell me your other name? grin

Lach, just a friendly lips to D.... grin
OK Shay! Let's start with the important stuff first. You are absolutely correct in saying you are not pretty! And that's because you are beautiful. I love your beautiful face and I love seeing your array of pictures. Each time a new one comes up I like to stare at your beauty for a long time! I love and respect you as I do a number of women on CS!

My name is Ed and it came from the horse, "Mr. Ed"!! hee hee Just kidding. Years ago there was an actor and singer named Eddie Cantor. That's where Mom picked my name. And coincidentally my last name also begins with a "C" just like Eddie Cantor.

If Dad would have had his way it would have been "Ciro". A popular latino name. And if my uncles would have had their way it would have been Jose Luis in honor of the then newly crowned boxing heavyweight champion of the world, Joe Louis. Jose Luis is Joe Louis in Spanish.

I have never really thought about liking or disliking my name. but I like it when people call me Mr. Ed which kiddingly makes reference to that rascally talking horse.

I wouldn't change my name.
I forgot to mention. My middle name was given to me by the parish priest in our hometown church. It was taken from an apostle and also the name of the church!
Two names also for you Laz...cute.

I want two names also. What I have now I consider a short name. I want a longer one.

Nothing to be sorry about Laz. You did not say anything that you should be sorry about. What I mean is I like to be called in various names by my family and close friends, just like your family and friends did to you. comfort

To my close friends, I am Shay. To my parents and grandparents, I am Anak. To my siblings, I am Ateh. To my Uncles, I am Lalang. To my Aunties, I am Ryl. So, few names also.
Thanks, shay bouquet

Yes, my father's last name is my last name, but my mother came from a tribe who doesn't have family name so my middle names were purely her ideas to give my name a certain meaning (kind of a hope or a prayer I think).

Oh, there's a belief here that you have to be careful when you choose your name for your children, this happens especially in my mom's tribe. If a child gets sick often, the parents or the elders would notice that the name given to the child doesn't really suit him/her, so it's advisable to change the name with a certain rituals (usually the parents have to prepare this red beans porridge which may remind you of the story of Jacob and his elder brother). Believe it or not, it's part of the traditional belief about names for your info teddybear
Btw Laz, we have a common name in the Philippines, near to Aura. Its Aurora. Cute also, and traditional name.
Hey Michael. So its not M, you should sign J! scold professor

Names in reverse, interesting. I'll investigate.
From where are you? Asia? And connection of what? confused
Hydrabebe, wave

Why naman po kakakilabot?...Charmaine sounds nice. Along with Cassandra, Casey. etc...

You seem to fit your name po. The idea na nasa other country po kayo is enough to say you are a strong person para tiisin ang lungkot at pagkalayo sa pamilya. Continue to be strong po.
Believe it or not, I was named after a priest.... who is probably now rolling over in his grave.
...connection to my father tongue his names...

There is a very small connection to Asia....can't give all my secrets away here! devil

I have to be mysterious for the ladies

i like your name/codename ............shay......

Hey Ed, good day to you. wave

Thank you Ed. That is so nice of you. blushing

So Eddie, sounds charming. Thank you for sharing your name origin. So, delightful to know where our names came from and the story behind it. We have also names like that in our place. The Spanish had influence a lot on us, and that includes the Spanish names we have been using in the Phils.

I would agree to your Uncles though with the Jose Luis. I like the J. Your middle name must be great as well because it came from an apostle's name.
Morgen, i do like your real name!!!! It's from your country. My name means battle maiden in most languages.....My daughter and i have "pseudo names"" we call each over on occasion. Her's is Adelaide and she calls me mama Taylor.
Hey Jim. wave Nice name. Near to my fave, James. grin

To the priest, everlasting peace to his soul. innocent

Well, Jim is short for James, sort of like how Tom is for Thomas, or Mike is for Michael.
Calli, wave

Battle maiden sounds dependable and strong also. A fighter.
