Have a little faith

As you get older, you develop an easy confidence. You realise what you are capable of in life, and the risks grow fewer and further apart... unless you step up and push yourself and take risks.

I was given an opportunity to become a Trainer earlier this year, to train staff at work. This is not as simple as it first appears, as I have been a manager most of my working life and I have always been responsible for training staff. This time it was different, this is statewide staff. These are staff I have never met; I know nothing about their backgrounds or their knowledge of the subject matter.

So I went to study, to qualify as a Trainer, because for me ... this was new and I like challenges. But often I have found as a Trainer, you feel like a performing seal. That you are expected to behavior in a certain manner... and I like to break rules, I like to make things a little edgy, but I always believe in being successful in what one endeavors to do.

It's nice this week to have had other managers from different departments giving me feedback that would indicate I have successfully met the challenges as a trainer. They have stayed back after each training class to give me feedback and they have been impressed at how I can hold a persons attention.

I am not here to brag, but to remind others that you should always have a little faith in yourself.

So you trained Seals?
Yes, Maddog... I taught them to clap.wink
grin laugh hehe.
At the end of the Day all you get is
"So long and thanks for all the Fish" frustrated
One would think that, One...but many years later, I have staff that I had years ago returning to say thank you for being inspirational to them. It's quite flattering considering I never thought I was doing more than my job at the time.

You can't believe that you don't make a difference to someone along the way. bouquet
Wow.. That's the coolest job ever hehe
So you have there --wait for it--Seal of approval.laugh laugh laugh doh wave bouquet
Backintolight, training staff is cool? I find it rather draining as I adapt to the individual personalities...However, there is something incredible when you connect with those individuals in a classroom environment and they thank you at the end of the day. smile
Waf, without that seal of approval.. I would not go further in this area of my career... so that 'seal' is very important.

However, the play on words... brilliant. I would give you a gold star, but there are none available... so a flower will have to suffice. flower
Waf doh laugh laugh
That's your worst to date thumbs up
Hi Abagail,

Would that now be the US Navy Seals you're training? Hell, it must be tough. Those guys are real good!laugh

On a more serious note, yes it is great to look back on a touch job well accomplished. The inner satisfaction lingers longer than the euphoria of a pat on the back!thumbs up

Hi Abigail, congratulations on your accomplishment! bouquet
I'm currently back doing more qualifications myself, I find it interesting and challenging and I personally think it's never too late to learn and get further in your field. Sitting down listening to a lecturer who not only knows the topic but can teach in an engaging manner is very important and makes a huge difference in following the topic and motiviation for assignments etc... wine
Best of luck and I hope you continue to enjoy it. wave
Thank you, Knenagh... I like learning and lately, I have done a few courses myself. Balancing training staff, doing courses and working is often a bit of challenge.

It's nice to know that I am not alone and that there are others out there that enjoy it as much as I do. bouquet
Thank you, Delatude. My communication skills might be the only skills I have... and born out of necessity in my life.

Thank you for taking time to read this. daisy
Hi Abigail,

Hello Bajanshay,

Thank you so much. I really don't think I have ever known any other way to do things. wine
