A perfect start

I arise, dress and stroll through the quiet crime free streets to the local coffee bar.

Its only 6:30am and the sky twinkles with stars.

We are regulars there, just nods not words yet, we await the beans to be ground, cups two at a time are passed around, sips and slurps are heard, and then the satisfying sigh of contentment passes through frothy lips.

Adjoin outside, clicks of lighters, scents of tobacco; scent of coffee and the sweet scent of Aniseed liqueur permeate the area. Colorful glow of smartphone screens upon faces, wifi is free.

As the first cup empties the sky changes, brightness from the east and shadows of the palm trees decorate the pavement.

The second cup arrives, more sighs...We talk now, Barcelona, tractors and olive trees, we are animated, the caffeine, nicotine and for those on the Aniseed liqueur the alcoholic awakening starts.

Coffee guy puts up the umbrellas, the suns up, it’s bright and the heat from the Sahara burns away the cool of the night.

Walking home, passing a fountain full of birds the scent of fresh bread, a few rolls straight from the oven in hand, they are hot and their scent makes the mouth water, they will be good drizzled in olive oil and sieved tomato.

Best thing about it...I get to do it again tomorrow and the next day and the next.

Am I a coward and loser for settling here?.......No I’m blessed content (better???)

Red, We all have our morning rituals, some are a rush with burnt toast and lukewarm artificial orange juice, some of us make the mornings special and a perfect start to the day. Have a good Sunday.hug
I should add for those that don't know, loses is Spanish for losers professor grin
I didn't know that, Z.

Thanks for the Spanish lesson professor

professor
Mimi, I should point out my Spanish is a local dialect, only spoken, well in my house really laugh
I'm gonna download an app that can translate up to 200 languages to English grin
Mimi, better make sure before downloading it that it translates my Spanish into Spanish laugh
Mimi, it should include outer Mongolian too as its widely spoken here.
rolling on the floor laughing

Outer Mongolia! wow

That's too remote.

I've only come across one Inner Mongolian my whole life!

What a beauty she was. Long black jet hair. Porcelain skin. Exquisite features. Graceful like a gazelle.....
That must be a local feature to your town Map, outer Mongolians are stretched a bit thin on the coast.
Z, I think they sound Mongolian after a few Anis, we did have a Peruvian wig maker and her Scottish husband pass through a few years back, otherwise as far as foreigners go, I'm the only one.
I would not complain if somebody boot me out to Spain. Think i would find my space there easily.
Hi Bloody, You probably will, everything imaginable is here.
Mimi!....Id say that he won't grab a Latvian hottie off the street as Canadians can be far too polite.
You're probably right, Map wink

Ok, MiMi's off for some yummy dinner now.

Fish head curry anyone? applause
Map,

That sounds like heaven, and I think Biff could get very used to that lifestyle.

Well, heaven apart from:

a. Getting up at 6.30am (middle of the night). I am a night owl. 6.30am is when you go to bed after a good night out.

b. It being still dark at 6.30am in the summer. I am used to long days of sunlight here)

c. Having to drink coffee....yuck

laugh
"the quiet crime free streets"

Yes I have noticed all the Spanish are over here running amok.
I may join you one morning just to escape them. laugh coffee
Not convinced that you are 'blessed'...!!....
No sea breezes...intense dry heat....!!...

Whether one is sitting by a Lake...watching the sailing boats...paddle boards....or by the Sea...the lull of the waves...sand...joyous faces....

Surely that is 'blessed'....

For my sanity...i need to live by water...

wave ...
For me, I need to have a shower first, and the sun must be up.
Molly, Its my thing, no one else has to get up that early, they serve tea or colacao for those not into coffee.

Non, Not my local Spanish people running amok?, they dont even run.
I guess it makes sense now, why they have to sleep half the afternoon... Because they got up before dawn to drink coffee and sambucca or whatever.
Map, wonderful life you have. any coins in that fountain i can steal?
Free, No coins in the fountain, they clean it every week so a bonus for whomever does it.
