Global Warming Is Probably A Farce

I believe it is just another conspiracy to keep people in jobs. Everything is exaggerated for the sake of sensation and organizations like Green Peace cash in on it by thriving on the people’s fears.frustrated

We only have data for less than 200 years and now some people want to create panic by applying a few years worth of data to the entire history of Earth. It’s like as if you can paint the whole picture by picking up one tiny piece of a giant jigsaw puzzle.doh

Yes, it is a fact that the planet’s mean temperature is rising by about one tenth of a degree Centigrade per century but that is to be expected. After all, we are coming out of an ice age. It is also true that places with a higher population density had a steeper increase in temperature than the norm but other areas have gone colder. We don’t even know if the rate of warming is increasing or decreasing.dunno

Now they concentrate on those places that are getting warmer while ignoring the places going colder and bombard us with selective statistics. By using a different set of statistics it will be just as easy to proof the Earth is in fact cooling down. For all we know, we may be having cycles, spanning several centuries, of rising and dropping temperatures.hmmm

Okay, so the mean temperature of Earth is rising very slowly but we don’t know how much of that is caused by man. Astronomers say that every planet in our solar system is warming up to the same degree. So, are we responsible for that too; or do we blame the Martians and the Saturnians for that? There is just is not enough data to prove anything. confused

Our few factories and car exhausts are farting against thunder when compared to nature’s own pollution. A single volcano eruption can cause more heat, pollution and environmental damage in one week than all of mankind can do in years. Yet, Mother Earth coped with it every time. professor

Yes, I agree, we should be responsible and we should prevent pollution wherever we can but there is no reason to inflate figures or to brainwash us with selected data to proof something that is not certain at all.doh

Hey Miclee
i thought you were kidding until I followed your link. Amazing. Has it been reviewed by peers?giggle

Leave that card alone. Every time I played it i got into trouble.laugh
cheers
@ Mic,

For every action there is a reaction, so I suspect the Sahara will blossom but unfortunately the makings of a new desert in Southern Africa is underway. Cat can confirm how much water is available in and around CapeTownlaugh cheers
Lukie,
It's bad. We're still going to kill each other for water. When it rains a bit like last Sunday, everybody runs out with buckets to collect as much water as possible.doh
cheers
Catfoot, I just walked out side and the temperature 71 here in Florida and it is Jan 9 2018. yes Global Warming confused

I just wrote my Congressman a letter thanking him for spending so much money on this research and just asked him one thing to do for me, sir if you have any money left could you please buy my Grand Daughter a pair of shoes. sad flower
Wen
it's rather cool here in Capetown as well. Midsummer, early evening around sunset and the temperature is 18 degrees C (60.8 degrees F). Did not check it earlier.doh
cheers
professor

A simple method by which to guesstimate Celsius to Fahrenheit -
Just flip these sets of numbers around...

28 c = 82 f
16 c = 61 f
04 c = 40 f

AND
It also works just as easily to convert f to c!
Cool, huh? And scientific! batting

Mic
Cool, it's not accurate but close. I still do it the long way on a calculator

that is F=C * 8 / 5 + 32

and C= ( F - 32 ) * 5 / 8

laugh cheers
uh oh

Uhhhh...Y'all Saffers?
Desertification is gonna be the LEAST of your problems...

Things are lookin' pretty grim for Hawaii also sad

BUT...
The Great Lakes - such as Lake Michigan cool yay

Sorry Miclee,
I'm just pessimistic. Maybe we can make a deal with the polar-shift lady to warn a a week or two before the event so we Capetonians can scoot off to Antarctica to await the tropical paradise in parka suits. Maybe you must buy some property next to one of those frozen lakes; it should be a good investment. One must be ready when it happens.laugh

I hope you find such an alternative more comfortable.dancing
cheers
Hi String,
More bad news?hole I was just trying to comfort Miclee and now this. these weather forecasters are now driving me to cheap whiskydrink pouring and bad women.flirty mind you, lemonade and schoolgirls could be very boring.doh

Thanks Conrad,
I had a quick look and will bookmark it to look into from time to time.

There are so many scares flying around. Global warming, asteroid strikes, polar shifts and many others but of the lot an ice age scares me the most. We don't even need an ice age. We just need a few degrees cooler and the shorter growing season will shrink our harvests enough to starve a whole lot of people to death.

Anyway, it is bed time for me. Have not read for two days now. Shocking!

Back Again, wave Tomorrow thru Saturday our temps are going down to Minus 30 C, Celceus or Fahrenhiet its coldrolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing Our Christmas week was a bit colder, Would one of the Global warming advocates tell me where it is,confused
Hi 12121
You're just in time, I was about to log off. 30 after midnight here.

No I don't know where they are.

Conrad posted a very nice joke on Miclee's blog on the same topic. It does more or less answer your question. You must have a look.laugh

I must went to sleep now, it is too late to go.laugh

hhave often thought its all about easy jobs ...in local authorities theres thousands working all well paid to churn out more stupid laws regaring envoirement ....and funny thing is these councils are the biggest poluters pumping raw sewage into rivers wholsale ...weatherher I think has never changed is same as ever and I think as some have said its all new these stupid findings are bad years and good ones .and then you see some worring about drinking straws people here pay for water now in shops while water in taps is grand water costs more per litre than milk is all gone bonkers ..is all to frighten people as well make pay these stupid carbon taxes handy money for coffers to make more stupid jobs

seems that we have a mini ice age beginning.
Yet another, and quite plausible, apocalyptic possibility...

And yes.
Dr. Shakhova essentially described a methane digester nearly three times the area of Texas (2 million sq. km) and twelve MILES (20 km) deep, containing about 1/2 of the world's continental shelf methane under just 150 ft. (50 m) of water.

I thought I commented on this blog
Hi JJ
the world has gone crazy and we're helping it on. We keep those people in their jobs and pay their salaries. I think we should stop voting for parties instead of voting for the man to represent us
cheers
Hi String,
We can predict anything and it will happen if we wait long enough.laugh
cheers
Hi Miclee
Our planet is still full of mysteries. Many things that we don't know yet. We probably know more about the surface of the moon than what we know about the bottom of our deepest oceans.
cheers
You did Annlee,
It is in page 2 with my response to it. We are now on page 4laugh

All, it's certainly important to keep an open mind about the possible deleterious effects of fossil fuels on the earth's climate. For me, there are several important things to keep in mind here. 1) The dendrite tree, geological and other records show ice and hot ages in the absence of fossil fuels. 2) Relatedly, she's a big girl, our star, and does hiccup now and again---even tiny amounts of solar energy output do affect earth climate and ambient temperatures. We have much to learn on this science. 3) We think much of the earth's heat also comes from nuclear decay in the core---also a source of possible variation on our climate. 4) Newton and Kepler eclipses and planetary trajectories look nice on paper---but there are a lot of variations here, some better known than others. Precession, wobble, etc. 5) Perhaps as important, the so called 97% "scientific" agreements on climate change should be viewed as to their sources. Much comes from academia, or research funded by foundations or government agencies, all of which are far from unbiased, as science, properly conducted, should be. Just spend a little time on any university campus, or talk to faculty or our kids who were in government schools and now colleges. It all contributes to what now approaches a religion, whereby folks who simply raise reasonable scientific doubts are ridiculed, or worse. The fake emails from British universities are just one example of this process, which we also see in attempts in the academy to stifle different viewpoints under the banner of "diversity and inclusion". Look to the never Trumpsters for similar deficits in open mindedness. BTW--- jobs, the markets, and now praise from S. Korea's leader for our President's help moving things forward on that peninsula, and lots more---all will never be acknowledged by most of these folks, all sadly on board in ersatz religion. But personally, of course, I'm all for a gradual phasing out of using fossil fuels for energy, and reserving these as starter substances for many chemical-industrial processes. As such, I try to be scie ntific and open minded.A-V.

Got Snow?laugh
Roof-Avalanche!grin
Conrad,
Snow, snow. and more snow. It's coming out my ears now.laugh
cheers
Miclee
Mindboggling! Not fit to rule ourselves!

As if those with a vested interest (billions of dollars) in raping the planet will just meekly dismantle their own assets to give way to something cleaner which will put them out of business. The will hang on to them until the last cent was wringed out of fossil and nuclear fuels.

There are already more viable green energy generating or harvesting apparatus but they will suppress them till the very end.
