Song Remakes...

I listen to a local classic rock music radio station that has a few hours of talk show in the morning and music at 10am. One day, they talked about little known groups who re-record famous songs that help start their career. They stated, the price to pay for this is 50% of the total royalties.

YouTube is my favorite source for music and I often follow song remakes.
For this blog, I picked "You keep Me Hangin On" in 1966 by The Supremes, remade (as a psychedelic rock song) by Vanilla Fudge in 1967, and again remade in 1986 with a disco beat by Kim Wilde.

Kim Wilde
I almost always like the original song best. There are exceptions though. I think Hendrix knocked it out of the ballpark with Dylan's "All Along The Watchtower.

Tall... good choice.
Remember Joan Baez?
She was first to do "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You"

(I suggest you lower the volume) laugh

Led Zeppelin 'covered' it...

and so did P!nk

First it was song by No doubt.

Then it was sung by Talk Talk

Roughly 300 year old song by Johann Sebastian Bach remade by Jethro Tull. Bouree.

Bearwoman, check your dates on that.
Another version of Bouree in a more comedic version.

chat I did recheck the dates and it stated one year then the other. That first it was No Doubt and then Talk Talk.

Nothing more I can say.I'm moving on.
Bearwoman... relax.

According to Wiki, It's My Life by Talk Talk was released in January 1984.
No Doubt formed in 1986 and released It's My Life in 2003.

GREAT SONG... thanks for your contribution!
I loved this song when I heard it first and didn't realize it was Dylan's until later.

Chat I wasn't upset but was and is still in a good and plan on remaining that way.lol

Wiki can be not all that reliable at times.Usually at the very bottom on the Wiki page it tells people to contribute any information but as I posted often times things can be wrong.
thumbs up
I welcome your comments. Just turn the bass down...

Remakes by the SAME ARTIST?

Eric Clapton: Layla
nam now that was funny.Ok not funny.giggle
If you are going same artist, how about Bob Seger?
Scratch that one.
How about this for a remake?

Sorry. I'll quit now while I'm behind.
Speaking of classical covers, here's a nice Korean version of a Pachelbel work:

and a parody of the same piece:
I wiki searched the song Alone which was first released by Heart in May 1987 and then released by Celine Dion sometime in 2007.I have most of Celine's CDs.

Here's Celine Dion's version.I also found out back 1999 that Celline Dion is related to me from my late Mother's side.My mother's ancestry were Canadian.

This one isn't a remake, but rather using the same music beat. Compare the two...Jack and Diane came out in 1982 and I Think I'm in Love With You in 1999. Looks like I'm going to have to post Jessica's Simpson's in the next post.

I thought this Dixie Chicks cover was great! kiss

VENUS by Shocking Blue was covered by Bananarama

CRUEL SUMMER by Bananarama was covered by Miss Krystle

One of my favorite remakes was Dwight Yoakam's version of "Crazy Little Thing Called Love". I first heard it as a Gap commercial. I'm a big Yoakam fan so it caught my ear right away. banana
A song written by Bruce Springsteen and remade by Manfred Mann... totally better!
Played daily on the local Classic Rock station: Blinded by the Light

Metallica covered Bob Seger's Turn the Page.

I give it 5 out of 10 as you really can't dance to it!
