RAY OF HOPE

It is always my morning prayer to have enough patience and strength.Working in an Intensive Care Unit needs guts every minute of the day.Seeing those ventilated patients could really melt my heart .Imagine one can be just tough and strong woman this mother could be.
Hoping and praying that her daughter will be okay after multiple surgeries.

Hopeful stories are windows into the wonderful possibilities life has to offer. Stories of hope bring to life the ways in which people support each other, miracles make lives better, and individuals find new roads through challenging times. Turn to stories about hope whenever you need an encouraging boost on your path toward your best life.

May we know one of your untold stories

cancer...

An associate of mine lost a daughter to cancer. He is about to lose another one. Nearly each month he would fly out of town to visit and check on her condition. His last weekend visit ended up being 2 weeks as her condition had worsened. Not responding to treatment, he returned with news she had less than a month to live. That was Monday and what doctors said/predicted would be about a month is now updated to a few days.

He's flying out tomorrow to be with her.

During his absence, I've been following his projects (we are in the kitchen remodeling business) and staying late when possible to see the work gets done. My thoughts are to work Saturday and Sunday so I don't fall behind in my obligations.

As they say "It is what it is."
Things will eventually get done.

For everyone in the office and all of his clients who know his situation, are hearts are heavy.

A little Turkey humor

My baby sister, cuter than a bug's ear, has hosted Thanksgiving for many years. All us households have prepared our dishes. While I wait on a bro to pick me and the dishes up, I checked FB. First thing I see is picture's of my son's dishes, he is excited and probably on the road to this town. Then I see a post from my sister saying Happy Thankgiving - she intends on having a stress free day so she soaked the Turkey in Vodka and stuffed it with Xanax. Turkey coma forecasted.

Our First Get Together

Mom turned 84 years old yesterday. She has been married to Dad over 60 years but hasn't been able to see him since our world changed. The not knowing if he is being cared for as well as the worry about the new world hasn't torn her mind down but it shows in her weight. Before Dad fell ill she weighed about 115 then slowly went down to 70 pounds which is all skeleton with a thin drapery of skin hanging. The virus has earned a name for the weight gain since the lockdown called the Covid15. On the bright side even Mom gained 8 pounds but siblings and I gained the Covid15.

All 7 of us sibling (which includes their mates), my daughter, Mom and myself (total of 9) dined on a catered dinner plus the damn cake & ice cream. The greatest thing about this birthday is my daughter, unbeknowst to anyone, called the facility Dad was in and got permission to take Mom to the outside window of Dad's room. My daughter went at lunch time, told her Nana I'm taking you to lunch and surprised her by taking her to the nursing center. Then over the dinner, love & laughter we had the wonderful story of how great Dad is doing.

Mom getting to see her husband in clean clothes, clean shaven sitting in a wheel chair will bring her comfort for days to come. They talked through the closed window to his room. The old people's homes will probably be some of the last sites to open.

After getting to share that time with my family and writing this story I think I just got wet. What a climatic feeling to enjoy.

Hope everyone and all you love stays safe.

I am not sharing the story of how I almost killed my dog. Bella is okay now but I damn sure thought I lost her at one point. I can't relive that story but I can bask in the gratitude she is okay.

Moving away

As a very young child (I was about 5/6 when my mother left my father), we moved around a lot. My mother sometimes worked 2 jobs, but rent and other bills always drained her finances. Wherever she found better-paying work, and or cheaper accommodations, we moved to. I never minded much, as I was quite young and didn’t really understand the problems with it. In fact, I just enjoyed being in some place ‘new’.

Of course, with age brings reason, but even though I understood the process more I still enjoyed the feel of ‘newness’ that comes with a change of address. I plan on moving again soon. At first, I was very distressed about it because I was literally being ‘forced’ to move by my older brother who insisted on selling our house (I am currently waiting on him to buy me out). In a nice way, I’ve realized that even though it was not my choice, it may be the best decision I’ll make.

This house was bought and paid for mostly by my mother, with contributions from myself and older brother (who were co-owners with her), as well as my younger siblings. Over the years, she did two separate renovations, adding on extra rooms to it. She also ensured that her lawn, trees, flowering plants and general yard space looked ‘pristine’. This property was part of her legacy, and her vision was for it to be a haven for her children in time of need.

For a while it was just that for me and my younger sister (I returned to the house about 5 years ago), but since my older brother and his wife moved in and have altered its state as a haven, it’s now time for me to go. Only this time, I won’t just be moving, I’d be ‘moving away’. I’d be leaving something very significant behind, so this move will be ‘bitter-sweet’.

However, I’ve decided that my new home will be dedicated to my mom and dubbed “Joyce’s House, #2”. I plan on using it as the haven that she had intended; for my other siblings, relatives and close friends. And, hopefully, this may be my final move (on earth, at leastgrin).

Women and men....Tears at funerals, soap operas, sad movies......

Admittedly anecdotal, but we boys didn't tear up this week end, but sisters did. Yet, when youngest Sis delivered eulogy, not a tearless eye in the house. Mostly of laughter at Mum's funny nature. Is there a difference between the sexes over tearing up?

Friendsgiving

Because one Christmas Eve I became widowed I loathe Christmas, mostly because it is so commercial, however I LOVE Thanksgiving. This year my bouncing baby boy is hosting it so I have to drive that 100 miles to Orlando. My granddiva gets off this year and will be there as well as Orlando friends. I've made my cooking list of my boy's and diva's favorite dishes to make, that excites me.

I would love to go and return on Thanksgiving Day. I love coming home, however my son nagged and nagged me to stay for a few days. blah. I will go the day before and probably return Sunday. I know it will be fun even though I prefer to be a hermit for some reason.

I have to say I look forward to this event as I know my daughter in law will cook such a variety of foods to cause a feeding frenzy. There is always new foods that I've never tried before so I love learning her culture. Since she cooks chickens with their head on I was a little nervous about her cooking the turkey but the granddiva said she was cooking the turkey. YAY a headless turkey.

I've never had goose and dammit one of these days I want to try a goose.

Mikail Gorbachov.....

... the old reformed communist leader is 88, and in failing health. Did grant a rare interview to the Beeb, where he warned, again, of the dangers of atomic war. He tried to reform the economic system in his country, but of course corruption had the stronger hand. New oligarchs, with tight relations to the new pols, and the military, quickly took over. Mineral, pipeline and oil concerns, circumventing fairer neonationalization, were scooped up for kopeks on the rubble. The lumpen proletariat are on the whole better off, it's true, but almost all are still struggling for their daily bread, oily Wodya, not to mention western jeans. And increasingly, the West is seen as a threat to Mother Russia. Natoization of former slave states, almost all now with bustling economies, under more democratic rule, and much more,---reunite age old fears of encirclment and domination. And the important treaties worked out in wisdom and good faith between Gorbachov and that prototrumpian monster Reagan, are due to expire. Recall how the ueber left and biased media fretted that the Gipper would BRING ON nuclear war, in the day, rather than make it less likely. Anyone see similarities to the now three year, serially failing, attacks to overturn by coup, the 2016 election? There are much more auspicious pictures of life for our children today. These weapons should be cut back to only a very few, for tactical. not strategic purposes, in each nuclear power. A pleasant start to improve the world. then we can get on to other real problems. Such as?????
