Last night my best woman friend tells me she asked her husband for a divorce after 17 years. She is a very athletic woman who runs 50 mile races, so being in her early 50's she has starting the process of menopause. We use to discuss it a lot because usually women get it by the time they're 51. And many now are getting it younger and younger. I know a woman 38 is going through it now. But my friend never got it and didn't show any signs, we chalked it up to her extreme physical fitness.

I've experienced many women getting divorced in the 45-49 age group, even celebrities who have been together for years, but always around that age number. It appears to me that woman (who never forget anything)bring all the negative items from the beginning of the relationship to the forefront. The man is overwhelmed he doesn't know what's wrong, turn right, turn left, he is very My brother in law who has the patience of a saint said to me that he couldn't live with my sister anymore as she was going through menopause. I told him to hang in there it will get better and explained in a little more detail the hormonal imbalance that was occurring. He survived, because he is a saint. ALL others have succumbed to this natural event.

The part that disturbs me (and I'm a victim of this as well) is lack of knowledge about what is occurring in the body of the woman. Most of us realize that we may get moody or annoyed when we're tired or hungry, but changing the chemical balance inside our bodies is a whole new dilemma. One hundred years ago (in America) the average age of a woman was 48. Ah just in time before the crisis unfolds..now with the lifespan much longer man gets to see it all.. This is the time that man needs to use but two phrases, YES DEAR, AND I UNDERSTAND.....chances increase substantially.

I had another friend who use to carry her portable fan everywhere and used it all the time..(hot flashes)
another woman had to change her PJ's three times a night they were totally soaked......this is a major major change and many not as much a change of life as for many relationships a change to death....almost every pharmaceutical company is working on a drug to relieve and reduce the symptoms but like alzheimers the pathologies are almost unique to every body.....so once again another place where education would be most helpful.....oh by the way men also experience this hormonal change and it's called andropause....

I watched some, not all, of a highly emotional video although I REALLY hate videos which try to manipulate my emotions which is why I didn’t watch it all and haven’t linked it.

It was a tale of abortion refused, and the year that followed. Stripped of emotional throbbing-voice content, the facts are pretty simple.

The couple had five children already. They had previous drugs and drink issues. Four – FOUR – of the children had already been taken by the state as they were judged unfit parents. She tried to get number six aborted for a very real health issue but was refused. Strike one.

That health issue - she’d fallen pregnant again when her earlier child was three months old. The embryo was embedded in the C-section scar from her last pregnancy which meant chances of carrying to term were non-existent. Chances of life-threatening complications, extreme. Not good enough reason for an abortion. Strike two.

Complications indeed but both mother and child survived emergency premature birth and the child went straight into an incubator. The closest hospital with suitable facilities was an hour away. Mother America dug deep to pay the mother the life-changing $14 a week paid to mums whose kids are in hospital at a distance, to spend as she wished.

The baby was discharged, still needing a feeding tube and specialized care, and did I mention quite severely retarded? on the first birthday of its older sister, presenting serious care issues. Too young and too disabled to be put into day-care facility, but here’s a little problem, both parents work, neither parent eligible for European-style parental leave or support. In fact, it seems the states refusing abortion ironically offer the least support to mothers of newborns. Some American logic for you. Strike three.

Well, I gave up on the video at that point. Even the American who had posted it didn’t seem to realize how shatteringly badly it reflects on you as a supposedly advanced country, it was posted as a heartwarming tale of courage in the face of adversity, to tug at the heartstrings. Aw.



I drew some conclusions, then deleted them. What's the point. Add your own if you feel a need. I do find that my interest in your Big Issues, now I've seen your ignored ones, is diddly squat.

There’s a blog at the moment mocking the way Europe tries to look after its own and hoping America doesn’t go that way. I deleted my comments on that too.

Some years ago my wife and I went away for the weekend; my mother stayed at the house and minded the kids while we were away. Not long after we returned we noticed that the inside of our teapot, which was normally tea stained almost black, was now gleaming white. My mother had a tendency to be ‘helpful’ in unwanted ways and we were rather annoyed that she’d cleaned the teapot, as we quite liked it how it was. Some time later, It came out in conversation that there was more to the cleaning of the teapot than we had imagined.

When the subject came up, my mother was all too eager to describe the ingenuity she had demonstrated; her pride in which was apparent in her tone of voice. It was my mother’s practice to soak her false teeth in bleach overnight, and, seeing an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone, she cleverly used the teapot as the receptacle in which to do it. By the time we eventually heard this story we had, of course, made numerous cups of tea in that teapot and the implications were very quick to strike us both, but, to our credit, we somehow managed not to let our faces betray our true feelings about her thoughtful deed.

A Judge Sent 3 Kids To Juvenile Detention For Reportedly Skipping Lunch With Their Dad

My special thoughts and prayers for a special lady who's going through double mastectomy right now...and victory for everyone who's battling against cancer.

But I know I can't. I am realistic about Life. But I think it is okay to wish.

Yesterday my oldest daughter got married. The legal part of it. The actual wedding is in two months.


I went to the cemetery in the morning and laid flowers on three graves. My Dad, my late husband and my late parents in law. I was asking myself why I was doing it. Of course I miss them and wish they were here. But more than that I am forever grateful for them being a part of my life.

I didn't mention her of her dad. I just wanted her to be happy. So it was a secret visit to the ones who passed.

I joined CS after my husband's passing. It was a difficult time. There are lots of people who have been kind to me here. I won't mention names. Though we don't talk often on blogs, I am forever grateful to all the wonderful people. You helped me to move on.

Welela, Wallops, KN, Sands. Even Ian who are not in CS any longer. Thank you for your kindness and understanding. I hope all of you are keeping healthy and happy.

Of course there was a troll or two I got to know. Somehow you came to my mind RC. Funny, I feel you will read this.

Life goes on. People come in to our lives for reasons, seasons and life times. Even death does not seem to part the one I once loved, married and had children with. I think it is natural to think of him and feel his absence on days like these.

Just heard a few days ago that Hungary is encouraging young Hungarian families to have more kids (due to population decline) and with that comes some benefits for the mother as well. Benefits include a $36,000 loan which is cancelled after a certain period of time etc. I think after the fourth baby is born the remainder debt is cancelled....
I truly don't know if this is true but would like to find out if anyone on CS might confirm this

I began to like this guy, when I read that he used his leather bound I Ching so much, that he had to replace it several times.
Culturally time period stipulated advice, sure enough. But doubt he would turn his parents in to the authorities on the basis of politics, or anything else. But who really knows?
