Life's Wake Up Calls

After 12 long years, I finally have a family doctor. It isn't that I haven't received medical care, I have. I just haven't had a family doctor due to a shortage, so it was wonderful to meet the new doctor in my community and be taken on as a patient. Woohoo!

The bad news. He took my blood pressure and it's really high. This is a bit concerning as I've always had low blood pressure and I can't think what might have changed that it's so high right now. He's advised me to take my BP twice a day for the next two weeks and then he wants to see whether I need to go on meds or not. I can guarantee you I won't be going on meds and will be doing whatever I need to do to lower it.

I've been going on my regular bike rides around my area first thing in the morning, getting up as early as 4:00am to catch the sun rise. I've been richly rewarded in some of the photos I've captured and awed by every single sun rise. After wondering how far I really rode my bike, I finally downloaded the app to map my ride last night and remembered to set it a couple of blocks from home.

Although I'd been told my bike ride was probably only 10km, I kind of figured it was closer to 15Km and I was correct. It's actually over 15Km and I figure, based on the couple of blocks I missed today, it's probably about 15.25km for my circuit. I may have to start doing that twice a day to get my blood pressure down, although I haven't seen any one thing that'll do it, and do it relatively quickly.

I have to admit to being quite shocked at my blood pressure, and perhaps a reminder to take better care of myself. But that's what happens when you have no family doctor, you don't have any one doctor to keep tabs on anything. I had my blood pressure taken a couple of times over the last two years and both times it was normal/low, despite the stress I was under. I rarely went to the doctor, as I figured my issues were minimal.

I guess this was my wake-up call. help

Women and men.....doctors....

After the US civil war, few records tell of lady physicians are found. Just after the First World War, women (and some fellas) opened the first medical college for women, in Pennsylvanis. The rest is history, if a slow one. Up until 30 years ago, women represented below 20% of doctors in training here. Not so elsewhere, and in Russia, much earlier, women physicians were more common than men. Turkey has almost no cosmetic male dermatologists. Many othe examples. And today in the USA, women represent nearly half of incoming classes. And just this year, almost all OB/ Gynecologists entering specialty training are ladies, more or less. But all of my urologists, (with their intimate yearly prostate exams!) are men. We all wait for the ladies to broaden the ranks. Bend over Aaltarboy, says Dr. Esmarelda. Yeowie.

Cesarian sections vs. natural births........

Reading this doggie home health tome, mostly for knowing Bravo better, and seeing the differences betwen species out of curiosity. Next will read a cat one, then perhaps the spider medical book. Almost done, and they are discussing assisting in puppy births. Should have thunk it, but as vets do all sorts of surgery, why be surprised that they do CS's? Got me thinking for another blog/forum. Each, of course, has it's place, and both have life saving benefits, along with real risks. Our twins were CS's born, but mom was high risk for being very athletic, but in mid forties.

Men and women....... Between the sheets....

Or on the grass, sand or kitchen counter..... Young or older. I've always, at every stage of life, prefered the maturity and knowledge of older women. I know some men prefer much younger females. Perhaps having a young thing on one's arm has its merits, but I'm rarely impressed. The hot and willing 40 somethings while in my 20's and 30's were the bomb, and the trend continues. But I have little experience with the SEXtogenarians and up. Have to get moving here. Supposedly, European women are without s*xual hangupe at all ages. But people say all kinds of things about foreign ladies.

The end

Apparently, just before the World ends, we are all going to get sucked off. Stringman kept quiet about that.

Women and men......Human aromas......

Some better than others, no? But maybe our scents that we don't seem to perceive (like pheromones) are behind so called, "love at first site". And much else. Women, living together in barracks or dormitories often synchronize monthlies. And many women here on CS in Profiles specify "must smell good" in searches.

Men and women....Pregnancy.....

They have us beaten thumbs down, fellas. Unless, of course, one considers male representation in almost everything else of value. But I digress. Truly a biological model of near perfection, including the typical pain at the end. Even breast feeding acts as an effective contraceptive. All those hormones working together. Four, count them, maternal tissues involved in the development and protection of the Embryo/fetus. Premier among these, the Placenta, the final part of three stage delivery, and a marvel of nutritional/toxic protective physiology, not to mention for research in autoimmune illnesses, After all, over half of genetic and mitochondrial complement here is maternal---with no rejection, almost always. Yes, and what effects do the nine months have on committed, loving, involved male partners? Lots, one imagines, and may have experienced as well. Must be desired as their own lives for women who are never blessed with the state---from the rush to infertility treatments. And the painful regrets over CFM, both male and female.
