Cringe Worthy

Do you ever read a blog and actually cringe? Maybe even feel the bile rise in your throat?

I have read a few....ones where someone, in my mind, is kind of icky boasting about their s*xual prowess for instance. Or ones where someone writes as an authority but it is evident they are ignorant or crazy?

I appreciate you bloggers who make me laugh and who give me glimpses into your lives. The ones that cause those wtf moments?.....not so much

Yet another gender blog

I, as well of all of you, have noticed the amount of blogs of late about gender differences/gender-blaming, gender-bashing and even some gender-loving.

No, I lie, there is no blog about gender-loving.

Now, it is easy to dismiss the more stringent threads which appear to be anti the other sex, these may look like the work of bitter and twisted individuals of both genders.
However, even if the language used is not conducive to most moderates joining in, the simple existence of blogs about these subjects shows that there is a concern out there from at least the minority of men about women (that is what I am going to focus on for this blog)

The main topics…feminism and menopause.

Yes both exist. We are all in agreement about that.

However, the definitions and experience of people regarding these topics seems to vary considerably, from non-existent to off the wall.
Yes, extremes of everything exists. Extremism exists in religion; politics; cleanliness; animal rights; cultures and yes, feminism and menopause.

But should anything be defined by its extreme elements? Most extremists frighten even the moderates of any belief. Moderate Muslims are in as much danger from ISIS as Christians, possibly more, and moderate feminists are probably hated more by extremists than men are.

As seen on Crazy’s blog, menopause isn’t the end of the world for most women. Indeed many see it as a new beginning. And it passes by others without as much as a wave. An extreme menopause is going to affect the woman terribly, and to a lesser extent the man in her life, but extremes are in the minority.

Most people who believe in equality of the sexes are not man-haters, they just believe in equality.

Personally, I believe that in many aspects of life in the West, women do have equality, but it has still to be fought for in other cultures.

And men’s rights also need to be fought for in terms of access/custody of their children; single father’s rights, etc. That is what equality is about, it has to be equal for all.

We are all in this together, we have to either work together for the greater good, or be divided and conquered

All thoughts welcome.

They Call Me Lucky

Well, that is what my late brother used to say. He used to can himself laughing whenever he said so for he was very lucky indeed. Or was he?dunno

When he bought a raffle ticket at the local school or church bazaar, he won it much more than often. He did not have any special number that he played every time as some other ‘lucky’ people sometimes have. He played just anything. Sometimes he even asked the person selling the tickets to mark just any number. We used to take friendly side bets on him winning the raffle. Few people were willing to bet against him winning. As for myself, no raffle ticket I ever bought has won any prizes.giggle

It was like that at the casino as well. Never any spectacular wins but he mostly went home with more than what he came with and he often treated us to a meal on their money while at the casino. I’m not really a gambling man but I loved going to the casino with him. I even gambled a few Rand away at such occasions.wow

I was the better golf player between the two of us but he managed that elusive perfect fluke, something I never got right. In fact, not even a close miss.doh

He never won the lotto jackpot but on two occasions he managed to get five plus. He always laughed and blamed his unfailing luck to his Jewish sweetheart he had when he was young. He was the proverbial smiling pawpaw, never with a long face. Always smiling or laughing.grin

But it seems that one can have only so much luck before it runs out. His luck finally ran out in 2000 when, at the age of 41, he collected a bullet in his stomach. He was taken to hospital and stabilized but 8 hours later he was in the morgue. The autopsy found that the doctor had pushed a drainage pipe through his heart. With a little better luck, he would have been alive today. As they say, shit happens!sigh
cats meow cats meow

May this day turn out to be very lucky for you.wave

Resumed with the renovations yesterday. Will pop in from time to time.roll eyes

Freedom Of Speech

I see some people don't like blogs about certain topics. I suggest just scroll on by. I know this is a world wide forum but in our country we value our unalienable rights and one of them is freedom of speech. Without it one has no recourse but to lay slave to "Big Brother'. Without it your opinion does not matter. Without it you sacrifice your manhood or your actual being.

"The people shall not be deprived or abridged of their right to speak, to write, or to publish their sentiments; and the freedom of the press, one of the great bulwarks of liberty, shall be inviolable."
James Madison June 8, 1789

That's my opinion and I welcome yours.

cheers

Britain must be punished for Brexit, says France

The Daily Telegraph.

The French PM has now realised how much his country depended on the UK so rather than negotiate he throws his toys out of the pram.

The French have a history of poking bears with a stick then running away when the bear stands up.

One has to wonder what will happen to France and Germany when other counties follow the UK's lead and leave the EU?

Bit of advice if you have Euros is to sell them quickly as the Euro is destined to collapse within the next 12 months.

DO WITCHES EXIST?

Yes they do. So be careful, especially this time of the year. How do you recognise a witch? Well, they are very crafty and try to be friendly with selected people. But, because of their DNA, they have missing ingredients. They can not feel emotion, or love, but only aggression and try to inflict pain whenever possible. They are likely to be evil extra terrestrials.
At Halloween they become more active and maybe a rhyme will illustrate this:-
At Halloween
You can hear her scream
When at home
You can hear her groan
Out at night
She gives people a fright
On her broom
She carries just doom
Making spells
And many smells
Beware of the witch
The nasty b*tch

So, be careful and watchful people. She could be closer than you think.

9-11-2001/9-11-2012

As we remember the tragedy in 2001.........
Let us also not forget on September 11, 2012 when US Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, USFS officer Sean Smith, CIA contractors Tyrone S. Woods and Glen Doherty, were killed in the attack on Benghazi.
