NYPD:Brooklyn Man,86,Kills Grandson's Girlfriend,S

New York (CNN) -- An apparent dispute over housing ended with an 86-year-old New York man shooting his grandson and killing his grandson's girlfriend before fatally shooting himself, a law enforcement source said Saturday.
Police were still trying to sort out what led Heriberto Pagan to drive from his home in Brooklyn to his daughter's Staten Island house Friday and shoot two people before taking his own life.
A law enforcement source said investigators were looking into the possibility that the grandson "was trying to take over" the home with his girlfriend and Pagan "wasn't appreciative of the way" his daughter was being treated in the process. It was not clear whether the daughter was at home at the time.
Police found Pagan, a gunshot wound to the head, outside his car Friday evening near the home where the shootings occurred. He was hospitalized in critical condition, but died Saturday morning, police said.
In the vicinity, police were alerted to another shooting victim, Pagan's 47-year-old grandson, who was critically injured with a gunshot wound to the head and found outside the Staten Island house where he lived with his mother and girlfriend. The grandson has not been identified.
Inside the house, police found a second victim, Claritle Christina Huerta, 28, also shot in the head. She was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
"This is like a nightmare," neighbor John Rina told CNN affiliate WCBS.
Police said Pagan shot his grandson as the younger man approached the house. He then shot Huerta inside before driving a few blocks and shooting himself, authorities said.
"I just heard a man screaming 'help me, help me,'" a neighbor, not identified, told WCBS.
A 4-month-old boy was found unharmed in the home and placed in the care of child welfare authorities, police said.
"There a lot of problems in that house, I could say, but it never really exploded the way it today," an unidentified neighbor told CNN affiliate NY1 News. "This is actually probably a buildup to everything that's been happening for ... years."

Sreenath the Lion

Sometime in November 2005, I read Leon Uris's novel "Exodus". This novel is about the birth of the Jewish state of Israel which became an independent country on May 14, 1948. The heroine is Miss Karen Fremont, an American nurse looking after Jewish children on the island of Cyprus. There, she meets an Israeli freedom or resistance fighter Ari Ben Canaan. The novel had been made into a 1960 US feature film bearing the same title starring Paul Newman, directed by Otto Preminger, as well as into a short-lived Broadway musical (12 previews, 19 performances) in 1971. It was a worldwide best-seller, translated into a dozen languages.

Every able-bodied Israeli citizen(both genders) aged between 18-60 years should enlist in the Israeli armed forces to serve their nation during an attack or invasion or war from external aggressors. I appreciate this policy of the Israeli government. This is not the case in India.

When I was 13 years old, i.e., sometime in 1980, I read "Roots" authored by African American author Alex Huxley. The book is about a 16 year old Gambian teenager abducted in 1767 from the Gambian village of Juffure, West Africa taken on board the American ship " Lord Ligonier" bound for Maryland and sold to a Virginia planter. This book is based on fact and not on fiction. It has all the elements of a Hollywood movie; however, no US filmmaker has come forward to adapt it to the celluloid screen.

Still vividly remembering the stories after he grew up and became a writer, Haley began to search for documentation that might authenticate the narrative. It took ten years and a half a million miles of travel across three continents to find it, but finally, in an astonishing feat of genealogical detective work, he discovered not only the name of "the African"—Kunta Kinte—but the precise location of Juffure, the very village in The Gambia, West Africa, from which he was abducted in 1767 at the age of sixteen and taken on the Lord Ligonier to Maryland and sold to a Virginia planter.

Creation of Israel, 1948 On May 14, 1948, David Ben-Gurion, the head of the Jewish Agency, proclaimed the establishment of the State of Israel.

She didn't follow my latest design... oops!

A designer I worked with a few years ago took an assignment in a foreign country. I didn't ask, but the pay must have been enough for her to pack up and relocate. She contacted me with a request to do the design for her younger sister's bathroom renovation. I said yes and to my surprise, the sister already started some of the demolition, ordered custom glass doors and was getting bids from a few contractors.

The goal was to enlarge the bathroom by taking the wall out to the adjacent closet. Okay, I get it... where do you plan to relocate the closet? They had no idea.
Since it wasn't a bearing wall, she was okay with taking a few feet from the living room in order to enlarge the bedroom in compensation for enlarging the bathroom.
I took measurements, asked 30 questions and came up with a design... It was totally different than what was in her or her sisters heads.

She said she was 'blown away' I was able to make everything fit. She loved it.

My statement was "Thanks, but it's only the first round concept. We need to confirm if what I'm suggesting is doable. Plumbing, electrical and air conditioning duct work will need to be moved."

One of the requests was to locate the main wall more toward the living room from where I showed. The problem there was the custom glass door was in production and no changes could be accepted. That means the opening for the door has to be shifted a few feet. It's an exterior wall and expensive to relocate.

I resubmitted drawings showing the enlargement/revisions while she got a price from the contractor and was going in the direction of "Let's do it" but her older sister said, wait... this needs more thought. I agreed, since my dimensions were only concept and they knew I had to return to remeasure and get exact sizes.

On Tuesday, the younger sister said she made a decision and wanted to get started right-away. I couldn't go yesterday, but made it a point to go there today.

Thinking they would start in a week or two, I was surprised to find all the demolition was done. The contractor tore up the place. The floor tile was gone, all the interior partitions removed, gutted electrical and a/c duct work hanging from the ceiling.

The "Oh shit" exception: He already built and drywalled the wall between the bedroom and living room according to the OLD SET OF DRAWINGS. The sister wasn't working with the revised set I emailed 2 weeks ago. I spotted this mistake immediately as the revision had the wall about 4 inches from the door casing and I could see it was more than a foot.

I had a set of revised drawings with me as I was going to put my new dimensions on them. Too late for that. I gave that set to the contractor who will move the wall he installed today and will work through the changes to fit the conditions.

Hopefully they won't charge her too much to move the wall, probably a few hundred in labor.

It's a good thing I caught that mistake before all the electrical, a/c and plumbing was done. Otherwise, she would have to accept it the way it was, or pay a few thousand to have the changes made.

why unbelieving and why believing in God

If you say to your child:you get food tomorrow, will he believe you?
if he don,t believe you, what you feel so bad?
and if he believe you, you feel good?
so it is with God, if you believe his truth how he feel?and if you don,t believe his truth, how he feel bad?
So can,t you see, that is so important to believe truth of God.
so where comes unbelieving? unbelieving comes from devil to man.
so devil don,t want man to believe in God.
devil comes to steal, kill and destroy.so if you don,t believe truth, devil is glad to take you to hell to suffer you
so bad.So don,t be stupid, start to believe truth of God in bible, and learn bible, first new testament.
start to believe and obey commandments of God: 1.Love God with all heart..,and love your neighbours
as yourself, and then ten commandments in exodus 20:2-17.
and you get saved.
God bless.

Heterodyne: motion lotion...

A generation ago, many of my pilot friends were spread out as much as 50 miles. Local phone service beyond 20 miles was considered long distance and when we talked it was as much as 25 cents per minute.

One friend owned an electronics repair shop and got us into CB radio so we could communicate by car when getting to the flying field. It was also good when we broke for lunch and did a caravan deciding places to eat. Under normal circumstances car to car reception was only good (at best) for a few miles with a standard 5 watt radio. It was easy to tune the amplifier circuit and get more output. Add on an an external power booster of 150 watts and you could be clearly heard 10 miles. Talking on the radio became normal for us.

The guy with the repair shop took his hobby to extreme and in his house he had a 2,000 watt amplifier and specialized directional antennas that were on a tower with a rotating motor so he could point the array and easily talk 50 miles! It didn't take long for me to do the same. We were buying high quality ham radio gear and modified things to talk on CB frequencies and beyond. I always received good reports that my signal and audio was balanced and ultra clear.

My neighborhood was very 'radio active' and you could easily find someone nearby that would talk to in a group setting. If I wanted to go for dinner and asked if someone wanted to meet... a few people would jump into the announcement and join me.

With 40 channels to talk on, we were often separated by different groups. Rednecks stayed near channel 19 that was the call channel for mobile operation. the 'brothers' were on channel 7. Latinos could be found on 23. Teenagers often hung out on channel 1. Most of my friends would go to the higher channels as there was less traffic there.

Heterodyne is a noise made when 2 people try talking on the same channel at the same time. Neither can hear themselves and others listening would hear the strongest signal or when both were nearly equal in power a mixed signal. Sometimes. it a squeal and other times it's a buzzing sound. Often in group chat 2 people will talk and not know their signal is heterodyning with another operator.

When several people are in a fight you get several signals and different sounds of heterodyne. Most of the brothers were using a few hundred watts in their own neighborhoods as 'watts' dictated power. If you had sufficient power your signal could cut through heterodyne and block out the other signals.

The problem with too much power on tweaked CB radios is they 'splatter' sending a distorted wide signal that bleeds across several channels making it impossible for people to talk on adjacent frequencies. That's the reason for the different groups separating themselves across the 40 channels.

One day, I was getting splatter that affected hearing a neighbor. Someone was driving down a main road near my house. I knew he was a 'brother' and from the audio I knew he was running a few hundred watts. I turned on my amplifier and went to the channel the guy was on. He was telling his friends that he needed to get some 'motion lotion'.

Although I was an avid CB'er I usually refrained from CB jargon. I knew motion lotion was CB talk for gasoline. But, I wanted to rattle his cage as he was only a few blocks from me. I asked if the motion lotion was because his girlfriend was 'dry down there' and suggested he visit the local pharmacy.
Yeah, that touched a nerve and he started screaming some obscenities in retaliation. I could hear some heterodyne howling from his friends a few miles away.

Knowing I had considerably more power than him and operating with an antenna on a tower, I keyed the microphone and told his friends to tell him 'he got dusted'
To be dusted means someone with considerably more power comes over the top of your signal with the strength to eliminate heterodyne.

HUMILIATION: Creepy Joe’s SOTU Address Receives Worst Polling in Past Quarter Century

While the left salivated over Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address, the polling numbers tell a different story.

Even the far-left Washington Post has acknowledged that the figures do not match up to the hype.

In a report on Friday, the paper admitted that while the left vociferously praised Biden’s divisive, rambling and angry speech, it is “not so clear the American public saw the home run that they did.”

The report noted:

Democrats would like to believe that President Biden changed the 2024 game with his State of the Union address Thursday night, demonstrating verve and combativeness amid concerns about his age and mental acuity.

Biden’s campaign and some media outlets have pointed to a post-speech instant CNN poll showing 65 percent of viewers offered a positive review of Biden’s speech. Viewers also shifted 17 points toward believing the country is headed in the right direction — from 45 percent before the speech to 62 percent afterward.

It went on to explain that these positive polling numbers are somewhat of a red herring:

What’s also true is that State of the Union speeches almost always receive strongly favorable views, in part because viewership tends to draw disproportionately from their allies.

The 65 percent who had a positive view of the speech was actually lower than any such speech CNN has polled in the past quarter-century — the previous low being Donald Trump’s 2018 address (70 percent).

And the 35 percent who offered a “very” positive review was effectively tied with Biden’s speech last year (34 percent) for the lowest on record. The next lowest were Biden’s 2022 speech and George W. Bush’s 2007 speech, which each earned “very” positive marks from 41 percent of viewers.

The speech, which involved Biden repeatedly falsely claiming success over issues on which he has dismally failed, was best summarized by Tucker Carlson over on the X platform.

“Joe Biden is actually a cruel and vicious demagogue,” he explained. “A man who has no problem at all denouncing his fellow Americans and putting his political opponents in prison as he has done.

That was possibly the darkest, most un-American speech ever given by an American president,” he continued. “In fact, it wasn’t a speech, it was a rant, entirely lacking in decency or generosity to his fellow Americans.”

North America

Eclipse fever is building. Millions in North America are hoping to spend around four minutes in total darkness as the Moon blocks the Sun's light on Monday.

For some, those precious minutes will be an opportunity for often impossible science experiments - a chance to unravel the secrets of our universe.

Researchers will fly rockets into the path of the eclipse, stand in zoos watching animals, send radio signals across the globe, and peer into space with massive cameras.

Manzanos are $2 a pound now...

Whenever I go to the Asian market I try to get some bananas from Thailand.
They are short 'finger size' and have a thin skin. Typically, it's best to keep them in plastic and wait for the skin to split to indicate they are ripe.
Last night I see the local Publix grocery has finger bananas from Colombia that look like dwarfed bananas of the variety normally sold here that sell anywhere between 65 cents to 80 cents per pound. When fully ripened, the Manzanos are sweeter than normal bananas but cost prohibitive at $2 a pound.
