The next costume party is close and a wedding invite!

On the 29th of December, my cousin and her family is hosting our annual New Years Eve pre-party, since all of the family is spread all over the country, and can't get together on New Years Eve. It's an evening filled with food, snacks, treats, confetti cannons and fireworks - so basically a mini New Years Eve celebration.

Last year was fun! No theme, so it was just come as you are and BYOD. This year, however, there's a theme: The Great Gatsby. We each have to dress up in 1920's costumes, so I have bought myself a costume. You might think "did you buy a full suit?".. Yes and no.

I bought a gangster costume and an inflatable tommy gun. I still have makeup from the Halloween party, so I will use some of that to draw a beard on my face. You know, go full meta 1920 gangster.

I am also in charge of the champagne. I have my eyes on one bottle, but.. Well, it's quite expensive. 549 danish kroner, which equals to about $79. The problem with that, is that it's 1.5 liters, which is way too much for us to drink. So I am thinking about buying a regular sized bottle. I just need to find the perfect one!

Do I go with Bollinger? Or perhaps something else?

I also received an invitation for a Turkish wedding yesterday. The wedding itself is at the end of December, so I have some time to prepare. The invitation itself was very creative! It's a "passport" and a "ticket", with a boarding time. When I opened the envelope, I went "Oh that's very creative!"

I love when people do stuff like that!

Great news from the SCOTUS today! SCOTUS Allows Texas To Start Arresting And Deporting illegals!

This should reduce the head count in the next census that includes illegal persons as well as legal persons which would definitely increase the number of representatives in those states seeing more illegals invading the USA. Lets go Brandon.

The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday allowed Texas to enforce a law that would allow local law enforcement officials to arrest people suspected of being illegal immigrants.

After the high court temporarily blocked enforcement of the law, the Supreme Court issued a decision to reject an emergency request that was made by the Biden Department of Justice, which argued that states have no right to enforce immigration law and that it violated the Constitution’s Supremacy Clause.

The Supreme Court’s order provided no reasons, but Justices Amy Coney Barrett and Brett Kavanaugh filed concurring opinions. Three Democrat-appointed justices, Elena Kagan, Ketanji Brown Jackson, and Sonia Sotomayor, dissented.

With the ruling, the immigration law can now go into effect while lower courts consider the law, known as SB4. It was passed by the Republican-controlled state Legislature last year and signed into law by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott in late December.

Specifically, SB4 allows local and state police to arrest people who have illegally crossed the U.S.–Mexico border and imposes criminal penalties. State judges are also given the power to order illegal immigrants to be deported under the measure.

In her concurring opinion, Justice Barrett wrote that the high court has “never reviewed the decision of a court of appeals to enter—or not enter—an administrative stay.”

“When entered, an administrative stay is supposed to be a short-lived prelude to the main event: a ruling on the motion for a stay pending appeal. I think it unwise to invite emergency litigation in this Court about whether a court of appeals abused its discretion at this preliminary step,” she wrote.

The three dissenting justices, however, decried the law and said it would upend the federal government’s authority. “The Court gives a green light to a law that will upend the longstanding federal-state balance of power and sow chaos, when the only court to consider the law concluded that it is likely unconstitutional,” Justice Sotomayor wrote in her dissenting opinion, which was joined by Justice Jackson.

Reacting to the Supreme Court’s decision, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton wrote on social media Tuesday that his state notched a “huge win” and that the law “is now in effect.”

Last month, a federal judge blocked enforcement of the law, arguing that it would supersede the federal government’s authority over immigration. The judge also rejected arguments from Texas that the state is currently experiencing an invasion due to the enormous numbers of illegal aliens pouring into the state.

U.S. District Judge David Ezra in February ruled that SB4 violated the U.S. Constitution’s supremacy clause, which grants the federal government sole authority over immigration matters. The judge also rejected state arguments that Texas was being invaded under the U.S. Constitution’s Article IV.

He wrote at the time that the law would run afoul of federal immigration laws and said that if allowed, Texas would then be able to “permanently supersede federal directives,” which would “amount to nullification of federal law and authority.”

The law presents a “notion that is antithetical to the Constitution and has been unequivocally rejected by federal courts since the Civil War,” Judge Ezra wrote, adding that it “threatens the fundamental notion that the United States must regulate immigration with one voice.”

Days later, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals blocked Judge Ezra’s decision and upheld the law before the case was appealed to the Supreme Court. Justice Samuel Alito issued several temporary holds on the law, the most recent of which was on Monday.

The 5th Circuit is set to hear arguments in the case in April

One year 1, 5 months and 10 days!

That's how long I have to wait until my next USA trip. By then, the date will be October 28.

The plan is to experience Halloween in the US. Once again, I am staying with my friend, her son and her cat, which I have nicknamed The Terror.. It's a long story.. Anyway!

I plan on booking the flight in six months. That gives me just over 4 months to save up, which is entirely possible. I am getting a second payout from work next month, so that's going to be put on my savings account. Before you know it, I have enough for my flight to the US.

This time around, I am flying direct! I don't want to change flights, because it can end badly, like my trip home earlier this month. I am also going to go a class up, and select Premium Economy rather than regular economy. More space on the plane and lounge access - two things I have never tried in my life, so I am thinking that now is the time. I also think the food is better, but I'm not sure.

I am prepared this time. The last time, I just picked the cheapest option available, which showed. This time, my flight will leave in the middle of the day, rather than at 6.35 am. That means I can get a good nights sleep at home before I head to the airport. Now that I know there is a direct flight from Copenhagen to DC, that's what I will take from now on. I gave Lufthansa a chance, and they blew it. I will explain more in a future blog.

Now I have my next trip to plan in a few months. And yes, that means another installment of my "Making plans for my USA trip!" blog series!

The 55 minute timer...

In the days of black & white Television, my parents owned a model that had a timer as part of the on-off switch. My guess is people who used the TV prior to sleep wouldn't have to get out of bed to turn it off or experience the 'snow' in the middle of the night when the station wasn't broadcasting a signal.
The dial went to 55 minutes maximum, but you had to turn it a little more until it clicked to keep the TV in on-only mode without the timer. A few times my father forgot to click it into on mode and it would shut off unexpectedly. Annoying, it was.
One night my mother was watching Perry Mason as many people watched religiously. For reference to anyone who isn't familiar with the series. It was a prime time weekly one-hour show that ran on CBS from 1957 to 1966. A courtroom drama about a criminal defense attorney Perry Mason... who never lost a case.
As usuall the last few minutes of the show were the most exciting and that's where the 55 minute timer would click off. Startled, my dad would run to turn the TV back on, but the time it took for the tubes to turn on and get a picture & sound, the climax of the show was over and they were playing closing credits.

"That's it" my mother shouted. The TV was moved to the bedroom and they bought a new TV... one without a 55 minute timer.

Hodgetwins and more.

It is interesting to see the back lash from blacks in high places. Ones they worked to achieve. Watched and read comments in regards to naming people and groups.
When I grew up, I heard about Negros and Caucasians, Asians and Indians. Altho there were color terms, only a few used them, black, white, yellow, red. They were races of people, nothing more. We took them a face value no matter who, what, or color.
The discussion I saw was the term African American. Seems the blacks often take umbrage at it. They say they are born American. They have no links to Africa and view them as totally separate.
On the other side, Africans object to the term because THEY are Africans. And view the US blacks as inferior. Africans say they believe in hard work, achievement, family values and raising their children.
My question is who decides what names are used to define humans.
Long ago a sailor by the name of Columbus reached a new land. He met darker skinned people living here and was mind set he had sailed around the world and reached India. Therefore..these were Indians. No matter the homes, habits, customs, language and towns were so different. His ego said he reached India! Wonder if he had sailed north and ran into those Vikings. rolling on the floor laughing
I use names determined by anthropology.Classifications that are made by DNA, genetics, characteristics, habitats and more. Not by some bunch that think they can neatly catalog people as they see fit. Maybe they ought to first ask them what they prefer. And stop dividing us.frustrated

Google it!

My car has a front radar used in the safety system for Forward Obstruction Warning (FOW) and Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) but sometimes the system gives a failure warning. I called Mazda USA and spoke to someone in customer relations who says they have no records of this happening to my model or others.
Last month, I dropped the car off for it's first service and told the service adviser about the failures and showed him photos of the warnings that appeared on the dashboard display.
He did a search and said there's nothing in history of this happening to any other vehicles.

Since they need to put the car to a test drive to try to reproduce the problem, I need to schedule an appointment for them to have the car at lease 2 days and arrange a (free) loaner. While I can make arrangements, I wasn't real sure about them being able to find the trouble. For me it starts while I'm on the highway and it's raining happening about 80% of the time.

I spoke to a friend who used to work at a car dealer and he asked "Did you Google it?"

Pretty simple and I found a few Mazda Tech sites where people post questions and get responses from other car owners. I found EXACTLY what I was looking for. It appears on my model and several others current and dating back a few years. Not a new problem.

At this point, I now have the ammunition I need to get back to the dealer for something that should already know about. Making my point, I'll send the service manager some links that explain the issue, with photos so they can get to the source quickly.

Thanks Google!

- Chapter I:
The ALGORHYTHM

XXXIV.

“While people’s stupidity goes on an on with praising royalties, worldwide massacres unveil the greed of mankind. History is being re-written with each generation that passes, for a new learning period in which the worthy scholars wearing the heroism banners further with concocted fairytales to enchant the blind masses, so as in ancient times theatres fully operational, preparing the waves of the culture of lies about to be spread from one corner of the earth to the other, to places in which rhetoric conquer the minds of the clever ones, poetry and writings to spoil the desires of both rich and poor, while painting to depict even grotesque ranked to eulogy. And this is how history is made, for the likeness of the crowds, embalming them with nice little stories of conquest which are far away of reality depicting treachery and murder, - here is how the heroism is born, out of theft and rape, saturating the greed of royalties and the blindness of the masses too large to recognize what’s obvious under a deeper look with the horse glasses in the shelves of the academia, - here is how the banners of civilization were risen, through the massacres done by the rulers beset by the state of action, through the same lineage of those Scribes and Pharisees from the old Judaism condemning Christ, which by their genealogic chain spread their branches in secrecy, through sects and secret societies to dictate the edicts of lawlessness and governance over the world. One could be amazed, to find a whole labyrinth of endless lies depicting history, if not shocked of how much evil could mankind conceive until boasting these days with its inventions; just that these stories, are not to be told openly, but just whispered to the ears of those understanding the foundation of this world, for in rest, nothing is really permitted or rightly said, allowed, and slices of the truth, if there are, being grabbed in hurry and just thrown to ludicrous. It becomes insanity, for the commoner, to even mention of these paths of finding what’s really going on with this world and with the people, as while everything is on the verge of collapse – even the society itself – and thrown by a controlled demolition to Anarchy, the dream for a better sight is widely spread, nurturing the idea of progress and evolution of mankind. In a world in which truth is truth only when comes out of the mouth of the state, through the edicts of governance and laws made-up over night and presented as valid in the early morning, everything that can be said, is to be called non-sense, - or in the modern context – misinformation, misleading. In a world in which truth is valid only from the expertise of academia, everything else is just thrown to the garbage bin of the modern terminology in a wording gamut called theory of conspiracy. In a world in which the actual truth is suppressed by any means possible, being replaced with a surrogate who can not be even challenged, under the premise of fact checking, it is imperative to silence, even when allowed to speak, for a counted time in the hourglass, as who’s invited to speak freely, it becomes like the culpable brought to the scaffold awaiting the executioner’s sword. It is more simple, to just show a brick, to the honorable ones treasuring lies and deceit, for none of them don’t know truly what is made of. It is enough to just indicate the angles of a brick, to the pitiful ruling classes, to let them know why masonry hits the corners of the Law. It is enough to use a scutch hammer with two combs on each side and leave some marks on a brick, to just show everyone else among the listeners that they barely if scratched the surface of what’s truly going on into their world, the earthly kingdom of the insane… “

Just to make her happy

Bring a smile to their face, With just a gentle embrace. A kind word, a simple deed, Can spread joy, that's all you need.

Make them laugh, chase away their frown, Turn their day upside down. With gestures big or small, You can make someone feel it all.

A bouquet of flowers, a surprise lunch, A movie date, a heartfelt punch. Of love and laughter, don't be shy, Spread it all, watch the tears dry.

Bring joy to their life, be their light, Make them feel special, hold them tight. For a happy heart, it's easy to see, It starts with making someone happy.
