Silent killers.....

Warning signs in legs
High levels of cholesterol in the body can lead to cardiovascular disease, coronary artery disease and stroke. High cholesterol has a lack of symptoms, due to which it is often dubbed as a silent killer. A blood test is required to identify high cholesterol levels.

People usually find excessive weight or body fat as indicators of high cholesterol. However, there are some warning signs that might crop up in other parts of your body, such as your legs. The blockage of the arteries in the extremities is known as peripheral arterial disease, or PAD, and some of the arteries that might be impacted may be supplying blood to the legs. Therefore, it is advised to not ignore these signs and consult a doctor if you experience them.

Cold feet and legs
High cholesterol levels can make your feet or legs feel cold or chilly all around the year, even in summers. This may be an indicator that you have PAD, though it does not necessarily mean PAD only. However, if you feel like one leg or foot is cold, but not the other, it could be time to talk to your doctor.

Skin colour alteration
A decrease in the flow of the blood due to high cholesterol can also change the colour of your skin. That's because the cells are not getting proper nourishment due to decreased flow of blood carrying nutrients and oxygen. Trying to elevate the legs, for example, can lead the skin to look pale, but hanging it from a table can cause the skin to seem purple or bluish.

Pain
Leg pain is among the most common symptoms of PAD. When the arteries of your legs are clogged, a sufficient, required amount of oxygen-rich blood does not reach your lower part. It can make your leg feel heavy and tired. Most people with high cholesterol levels complain about burning pain in the lower limbs. One may feel pain in any part of the leg, from the calf to the thigh or buttock, and it may be in one or both legs. This happens most often from taking part in physical activities such as walking, jogging, and stair climbing. This discomfort is usually gone when you take rest and may be felt again when you start moving your legs again.

Nature Moods - Vol. IX

Nature Moods
***
- Vol. IX
( - )
Foreword.

"Nature blessing mankind
filling the earth with Water,
from tiniest springs
tinkling among rocks and ferns,
till the marvellous waterfalls
enchanting the eyes
of the watchers,
as much as the narrow shores
where the tides come and go,
inviting the seagulls to squeak
across horizons uniting the ocean
within the abode of dusk
mirroring colors,
- as above, so below; -
Only the Recklessness of men
drive to insanity a whole world
making use of envy and greed,
aside desires to conquer and rule,
unspeakable crimes,
abominations, deviances,
in which nations have to pay
the holiness of Water!.."

Man man with a pig's heart...

Earlier this year doctors at the University of Maryland performed a transplant of a genetically modified pigs heart to a 57 year old man. It was a medical first. He lived for 2 months and suddenly died. 2 months later, they found a viral DNA in the pig heart that was causing an infection.
So now there is fear that animal-to-human transplants run a risk of introducing new kinds of infections to people.
Something to consider when signing documents to receive experimental transplants.

Faith in God will save you

Where come from the good and where come from the bad ?
The good comes from God, the bad comes from devil.
Anything against God is from evil ,
anything for God you do good will bless you.
So faith in God is needful.
Any thing against God if you do will lead you to sin and to evil and to suffer.
Anything for God if you do good will bless you and will lead you to healing,to life and salvation.
So don,t loose time because will be too late one day.So don,t loose time, seek God and read bible to get knowledge about God.seek to believe and obey God and you shall be saved.
God is love and is good and will help you when you pray in faith.
obey to greatest commandments: 1. Love God with all heart...,2. love your neighbours as yourself.
(neighbours are all people).
If you do this, you shall have life and lead you to salvation.
God bless.

Legitimate Publishers

I had signed with Dorrance Publishing to publish two of my books (Intorqueo: A Collection of Short Stories and Intorqueo: More Twists, More Turns). The contract, it turned out, made me the owner of the stories in name only. Oh, I will still get money if the books sell, whether on Amazon or in Barnes and Noble (or off of the Dorrance Bookstore online), but the company basically has the say on ownership. Even when the contracts end after a couple years, I would have to submit my withdrawal in writing.

Basically, they can do with my submitted books as they see fit, keeping my name as author and me as "partner", which is code for "I became a sucker to their words and promises".

I plan to have any contract from any publisher scrutinized by lawyers, as such will be cheaper than what was paid to have those two books published in the first place.

So, if anyone has any name of any legitimate publishing house that isn't trying to scam a person out of a lot of money, I'm all ears.

Cheap chairs...

I'm known for buying cheap office chairs. They usually last 3 to 5 years and get tossed out or handed down when a new one arrives. I've been through lots of fabric styles and a few ultrasuede versions. I dislike the bonded leather chairs as it's an emulsion of a polyurethane skin with fibers of leather for the backing. It looks and smells like plastic. Naugahyde is on my 'do not buy' list.

Also, I avoid real leather. Mostly for the expense and I don't like the smell.
Two years ago, I bought a stylish 'minimal' chair for my living room that was wood and thin leather cushions. I had to return it as the leather had a 'vomit-like' smell.

Someone I worked for years ago, bought an ultra-expensive judges chair with a high back rolled cushion top and rolled arms complete with the decorative tacks. Expensive in the range of $2,500, he made some statement his chair could easily last 15 years. Okay, but he used to shave his head and within a few weeks, the headrest started changing color from the oil in his skin! One day he came into the office (from working on something in the factory) and forgot to remove a screw driver from his back pocket. Deep scratch in the seat that will annoy him for the remaining 14 years in the life of his expensive chair!

Crab-it...

For people who don't know how to parallel park, there's the all electric Hyundai MOBIS with the c-Corner System. Each wheel has a motor and steering control to turn 90 degrees.

Not only can it drive sideways, it can do a 360 degree turn in it's own space and do a tilting 90 degree turn. On the road it can change lanes with all 4 wheels tipping the the car stays straight.

Saying goodbye to the Deauville Hotel...

The Deauville Hotel on Miami Beach was built in the 1950's and the place for many famous moments in history.
When the Beatles came to Miami Beach, they stayed there and recorded the shows for Ed Sullivan TV show. President John F. Kennedy was there and celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, Tom Jones and Sammy Davis Jr. performed there.

It was time to go... The building was in violation of safety codes at a cost greater than it's value to renovate, so the owner hired a demolition team to level the structure.
