My apologies to all. every time I looked at the word 'exsists' I thought it looked wrong, so I finally checked the spelling my 'exsits' should have been 'exists'
No wonder we haven't been getting anywhere on this thread!
and with that cleared up I will make my exit for the day.
Nope, simply a Statement of Fact:Unless he has been where some of us have been,it is simply beyond his experience. Of course,if you consider stating a Fact to be Judgmental, more power to you.
Interesting comment, you clearly "looked behind the scene" !
Whenever I'm in Zürich the next time we should exchange some ideas over dinner, be my guest. Which you prefer: Sonnenberg, Dolder, Baur au Lac or Taggenberg in Winterthur ?

It has been proposed that Theology (Religion) is a device used to 'control, the masses (mankind).
For this hypothesis to exist, there would be an entity that would profit from this control, would there not? who would profit from this 'control'? Christianity?? If so which denomination? Ther are so many, with significant differences in doctrine that there is no way such a plan could remain un revealed. The Jews? Again different denominations, and they are rebounding from the last time prejudice against thier faith singled them out. Muslems? A theology on the rise, again with divisions in doctrine. No one of these groups could put aside thier distrust of the others to participate in such a project much less keep it secret.
Who stands to profit? The intellectuals? Again there is Science, Philosophy, Mathmatics, each with thier own pride. And thier search for more knowledge leaves them little time to control the masses, though they may wish the unwashed rabble was controlled.
Government and economies have vested interest in control. that's where I'd look for the guilty party.
Repressive governments seem to concentrate on controlling two segments of thier society to maintain control of the populace, The Church, and the Intellectuals. It is from these groups that insurrection has usually come.
The ntellectuals and religous groups are usually the centers for insurgencies.
Trish, Wandering Gnome is – bar none - one of the biggest fools I have ever come across on a forum in my life.
And no, he can't do any better and doesn't know any better than this. To call what is inside gnome’s head a limited intellect is to presuppose there WAS an intellect that at some point could have beCOME limited.
Classic, typical, stereotypical case of a church-bred man who applied faith to what he couldn’t explain and understand his entire life and remains with a child-brain.
He’s just limited, you know. He’s the last clinging remnant of the inquisition, who relies on empty-headed round-about notions and people-support because his inquisition isn’t allowed to burn us at the stake anymore with our books for fuel.
Their revolution is OVER, Trish! The new age is here, it is dawning.
The new age in which their children will lead them!!!
Religion IS a device used to control the masses and always has been, fool; at the same time man has a metaphysical need and it meets that need.
So it suits all.
Or used to . . . but the times they are a changin' . . . man is starting to say: the hell with my metaphysical needs, so I’m going to die and return to dust, so my loved ones are going to the worms, too . . . so be it . . . but I will not LIVE A LIE FED TO ME BY THE CHURCH!
I will not live a suppressed life and be taught to forsake my body and worldly things and sensations and pleasures for love of the filthy earthen grave and the worms in it.
Tell me something people, has anyone on this thread doubted that faith exists?
or has this fool decided to worm his way around certain questions he was asked - or certain things asserted - and is now defending something no one has refuted.
'Still think faith exists'
WHO SAID IT DIDN'T, YOU MORON?
Bah! Blockhead!!!
Of course faith exists, I see young women driving cars into school buses in the name of God.
Enough proof for me - of the power of faith and that faith exists.

Wow Ray...your hatred for Gnome tells me you are scared to death of him because deep down you know he is right. Put aside your arrogance and have an open mind and heart. Indoctrinization works both ways.....good luck to you.

Again I refer you to Shakespeare, young follower.
"Fool We'll set thee to school to an ant, to teach thee there's no labouring i' the winter. All that follow their noses are led by their eyes but blind men; and there's not a nose among twenty but can smell him that's stinking. Let go thy hold when a great wheel runs down a hill, lest it break thy neck with following it: but the great one that goes up the hill, let him draw thee after. When a wise man gives thee better counsel, give me mine again: I would have none but knaves follow it, since a fool gives it. That sir which serves and seeks for gain, And follows but for form, Will pack when it begins to rain, And leave thee in the storm, But I will tarry; the fool will stay, And let the wise man fly: The knave turns fool that runs away; The fool no knave, perdy.
Hi Conrad my judgemental ?? was before this statement and ref to your post You wouldn't know what she's been talking about,if it hit you in the Face. That type of experience is forever closed to you.!!
that is what I was refering to as judgemental but maybe I should have gone with assuming,
One of the most persistent issues concerning any belief in God is the problem of evil.
The Greek Epicurus's argument back from 300 BC (!!) still holds up:
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

Well I see we are back to the angry line of attack. Which Church is wiping everybody out like there's no tomorrow? Is this really what you think? You really need to get out more. You can have freedom of choice, but you have to accept responsibility. Until you can open your mind to accept other's viewpoints, you are not going to change the world. And to get anywhere you will have to accept different point's of view.
Until you stop yelling I doubt if anybody will even attempt to enlighten you.

Well Charlos, to get the answers you are looking for you COULD read the Bible, since it's explained there in pretty simple terms. But if that is too difficult you could probably go to churh, and get the answers you are seeking.
You might be pleasantly surprised to learn that there have been NO documented cases of lightning striking sinners dead at the doorway in the last couple of years, Holy Water doesn't melt your skin, and exorcisms are hardly ever performed on the first visit.
