A wise man once said: ‘No one who seeks the truth need fear the wrath of 'God' - only the wrath of men, and their thus compromised constitutions’ – a wise man.
Read your Sentence over and over, then Read it and Weep. How can you claim Knowledge without Knowledge. You're going to cause me to weep having to read such Contradictions. Nothing from Nothing leaves Nothing. Add Nothing to Nothing is still Nothing. Is NO-THING!!!!!
Yes, Gnome, I'm still laughing at your childish arrogance because, at 24 I'm entitled to laugh a little childishly at a man of fifty defending what is false - and calling false what is real.
And, no, Darwin DOESN’T belong with Stephen King, because Darwin was a break-through evolutionary biologist and Stephen King is an American horror novelist. Darwin wrote about some horrors he saw on his voyages that are far more terrifying than anything Stephen King has ever come up with; and Stephen King may develop his characters better, little wise wandering gnome, but Darwin’s ones are REAL.
Oh, and one last difference:
Stephen King stories will always have more popular appeal!
awwww Ray, that is such a lovely positive thing to say, Im nearly crying Thank You and I just hope I can live up to your belief in me, I think you know I will do my best
My studies are going well thank you my friend though they were hampered by the recent breakdown of my hard-drive and motherboard, maybe bad vibes were getting through from somewhere or other all is well now though and with renewed protections in place I guess these things are sent to try us and learning is a lifelong endeavour. Alas, there is the MA to get before the PhD but Im on the road now and although it stretches out long and arduously ahead of me I wont be put off cos I believe that anything worth having is worth working towards. The current phase ends around June 08
Its great to have your company on these 'God threads' Ray and I missed you too. When I wasnt able to participate I was like something with ants in my pants (hahaha) itching to know what was going on. I did manage to get a couple of points in at the end of the original though. I asked a friend to read me some posts over the phone even.
Sorry for leaving you to it though I see you had a host of other very worthy supporters.
Well, my self-appointed nemesis and refuter of everything in every single post I've ever written, wandering gnome, DOES - because he IS all the things I said he is.
And he IS going to learn that, to whit, he who laughs longest laughs last.
Because either one of two things are infinite: the out-come of the God debate, or Wandering Gnomes stupidity - and I'm not so sure about the outcome
Unless,of course, you equate Darwin's writings with those of Stephen King's,which is an unequalled Horror in itself, which not even Stephen King would dare perpetrate. (I hope) I wonder sometimes what the Inside of Stephen King's Mind looks like.
Ah, but you see . . . it's the implications of the question being asked that I'm more interested in. And evidently the more academically minded are on the god-thread.
Because the truth is like a rugby ball and all the members that comprise the two teams are heaped up on top of it.
And you're either in the stadium watching or you're in the game.
Because there IS a rugby ball under there.
But really, I'm interested in the implications of the question: why are all those bodies heaped up on top of THIS one ball?
What is the value of attaining it? What does its ultimate possession reveal? Why is it so important? Who is playing by the rules, who is not? What is it being used for, this game? Certainly everyone in the stadium is paying tickets to watch. What is it a symbol of?
Maybe . . . it's the symbol of a war between good and evil, true and false, right and wrong, real and ideal etc . . .
It's the implications of the question that I'm more interested in. Don't even care about the answer to it. Just the implications of the question.
The ultimate possession of the ball is illusory. The guy holding onto it is never getting out from under that mass, as you have alluded to. So what are the implications of the game? What are the implications of not playing? What are the implications of not watching?
Who is breaking the rules and appearing to win by cheating etc?
Hey, not a bad metaphor. Well, it’s not that good, but it’s not that bad either.

Oh my name it is nothin' My age it means less The country I come from Is called the Midwest I's taught and brought up there The laws to abide And the land that I live in Has God on its side.
Oh the history books tell it They tell it so well The cavalries charged The Indians fell The cavalries charged The Indians died Oh the country was young With God on its side.
The Spanish-American War had its day And the Civil War too Was soon laid away And the names of the heroes I's made to memorize With guns on their hands And God on their side.
The First World War, boys It came and it went The reason for fighting I never did get But I learned to accept it Accept it with pride For you don't count the dead When God's on your side.
When the Second World War Came to an end We forgave the Germans And then we were friends Though they murdered six million In the ovens they fried The Germans now too Have God on their side.
I've learned to hate Russians All through my whole life If another war comes It's them we must fight To hate them and fear them To run and to hide And accept it all bravely With God on my side.
But now we got weapons Of the chemical dust If fire them we're forced to Then fire them we must One push of the button And a shot the world wide And you never ask questions When God's on your side.
In a many dark hour I've been thinkin' about this That Jesus Christ Was betrayed by a kiss But I can't think for you You'll have to decide Whether Judas Iscariot Had God on his side.
So now as I'm leavin' I'm weary as Hell The confusion I'm feelin' Ain't no tongue can tell The words fill my head And fall to the floor If God's on our side He'll stop the next war.
yea! Only Bob Dylan (being a jew) could stress only on the number of killed Jews( during WWII) what about other 34 million Russian Speaking Nations? Makes me wonder.
ha ha Graham, I think we have been friends all these yrs cos we think alike - or could that be the other way around - I posted this exact song yesterday
The whole thing (second world war) should never have happened, nor the first for that matter - it was sad for every parent, child and lover who lost their loved ones no matter which side the came from. Surely there has to be a better way of sorting things out - but I guess thats for another thread

I know I am a bit ruthless at times, but that is my method. And that is all I am willing to give for it in the way of an apology.
And yes, philosophy is the absolute antithesis of empty-headed.
And I am sick and tired of hearing it called as such.
