Internet Person

Through endless void of cyberspace
I see your typed out words
Never knowing your true form face
Often wondering if I'm just being absurd
by guessing who or what you really are
From what planet you're from or what distant star..

Sometimes you state you are nearby
Turns out you're in some distant place
Asking me to book an airline ride so you can really fly
Luring me in to just another endless chase
Leaving me to wonder who or what you really are
From what planet you're from or what distant star..

Whispers of the Wind

Can I tell you something?
It’s a secret so hold on tight.
Your soothing voice, I’ve been longing
They say this isn’t right.

And then I wonder what you would think.
If I told you what’s inside my head.
It’s scary but it’s either swim or sink.
Will my momentary bravery succeed?

Oh, can I tell you one more thing?
You have to know that in every twilight
It’s your voice I hear that sing
Of beautiful melody that calms my plight.

Wherever you may be
But through the whispers of the wind
A glorious thought of you like no any
I intend to keep with me til the end.

From The Past

Wherever you are
I'm not that far away
If you feel my presense
Its 'cause my mind won't stray

Its kinda focused
On the things we had
It brings me a smile
An makes me glad

Glad to know you
Glad to have met
Glad to have tasted
No sweet regret

No ifs buts or maybes
Only life an its path
A journey of chances
All within our grasp

A woman like you
Put character in my soul
Enriching my perspective
To make me whole

a slice of pie

compelling engaging substantially fragile
a reasonable crust
not to thick not to thin
supportive but easily broken
surrounding without completely encapsulating
cupping hopes desires need
inspiring delight speculation lust
will consumption disappoint or satisfy
oh my god you are gorgeous
all legs and svelte attractive femininity
i feel inferior sitting here
wanting to say something awesome
all the while holding in a violent fart

Until Better Comes

Just not good enough
Still I’ll settle for this
Until something better comes along
It worked well enough with a job
Maybe it’ll work for love

Fed up and dissatisfied
I walked away from my job
Surely I’ll find another that’s better
There were no regrets
Maybe I can do the same with love

Those unbreakable strings that binds
My heart ,body and soul to her
To say nothing of obligations
I walked away and left part of me
There were child support and alimony

So they would have us wed
Before we start sharing a bed
And when love changes to hate
We would rather separate
Still to each other we are obligate

The Gift of You

Memories tap us on the shoulder
Arriving on the winds of time
Pictures extrapolate our full attention
For a brief moment we become them

Brought to life by that captured second
I absorbed the essence of you.
Love empowers dreams to come true
I breathed the gentle breeze of your love.

We are every age we've ever been
Our past becomes our history
At that age so long ago
You became the constant I needed

I am free because you opened doors
I know acceptance because you validated
Love is no longer a faceless stranger
You are the hero in the cinema of my memories

A tale of two

While exploring a rocky outcrop
Of a place ever so dear
I stumbled upon some artifacts
From far an so near

Wedged between sand an shell
Weathered timber oh so fine
Perusing inquisitively i spied
Square nail holes depicting time

My thoughts beckoned of the past
Large ships an wild seas
How many foreign hands had touched
'Fore the ocean it did seize

What shore did bore this timber
What type of tree was it
Who shaped an nailed it into place
Where on this ship it fit

Ahh so many questions
Floating in my mind
Gathering all the thoughts i had
Until my next find

Two rock pools an thirty paces
Not far from my last
While spying on tiny blue fish
My eyes they did cast

Upon a tool of ancient times
Unbeknown to me right then
A rock of perfect proportions
From a history of when

The local tribes they did live
On oysters an the sea
Turtles that did beach themselves
Their eggs they did free

A tool of two minds
One way was a knife
A perfect edge for cutting
To get them out of strife

The other was like a hammer
To chip away the shell
Whichever way you held it
The thumb did perfectly dwell

Interesting it is to note
The wonder of this find
Within minutes of each other
Memories of two kind

walking home from the club
one dark and lonely night
i hears a sound behind me
it gives me quite a fright
but when i looks there's no one
in my line of sight
so i goes back to walking
without a second look
although i wonders what it was
thats scared me like a chook
was it just a puppy dog
or a bloomin' nasty crook
the wind comes up i look again
the hairs on my neck aghast
not a persons lurking
just like the flamin last
but what i did sees dancing
past me alls colourful and grey
pohutu bloody kawa leaves
livening up my way

The Final Port

The seaman sang a shanty song
while on his watch he stood.
On a moonlit night beneath the stars
on a schooner made of wood.
Leagues away on a widows walk
a damsel watched the sea,
And wondered with a lonely heart
where her true love might be?

He'd left the docks of Singapore
and now was homeward bound
The cargoe hold was filled with silks
the finest to be found.
Eleven momths he'd been to sea,
this voyage was his last.
He's sailed the seven seas too long,
his wanderlust had past.
Just weeks away he'd find safe port
and leave the seamans life.
To settle down with his new love
and have her for his wife.

The damsel walked the widows walk
just as the sun was risin'
A sail rose up far out to sea
above the blue horizon
She sang a hymn and said a prayer
of thanks unto the Lord
For bringing home her seaman safely
with all hands on board.

About this poem:
What a wonderful sight for a woman to behold when her husband returned to port after being gone to sea for months and maybe even years. The elated joy of the seamen aboard a windjammer returning home to their families on shore.

if only

if only you'd stop apologizing to me
telling me how naive how gullible you were then
if only i'd beaten you like you wished i would
instead of trying to talk it through
to convince you
if only you'd apologized to my face
five
four
three
two
one
year ago
i might be able to put it behind me
to forgive you
yea sure i'd have a criminal record
sure my kids would hate me
it couldn't be worse than now
could it?
if only i was a @#$%
